This month just been on a cruise in the Mediterranean with my wife, and casually it was our first cruise! We spent our vacations in Europe (France and Italy) and wanted to include a cruise. We went with Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas, started in Ravenna and visit Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, and then Athens and Santorini in Greece. Originally the cruise included a stop in Mykonos but 2 months before the trip it changed to Athens, and for us it was perfect. In Split and Santorini we booked the excursions from the cruise, it was the best choice. In Athens we did self excursions, it was so much cheaper to take a bus to the center and visit the Acropolis on our own. And in Dubrovnik we booked excursions from other agencies. Being our first experience in a cruise we absolutely love it, and wanted to do it again soon. Thanks for giving so much information of your trips.
Do book French Polynesia! We were just there in Oct. 2021 on an 18 day Windstar and it was definitely a trip of a lifetime!! You will be spoiled for any other cruise line!
Thank you for all the information. Many places w/ tips and hints mention head and shoulder coverings you’re the first one I’ve heard mention knees being covered.
Im from Australia flyng out on Oct 19th to Singarapore then Rome then on the Norwegian jade coming back to Australia. November 13th.. i cant wait so exciting been watching your videos... great help and great videos
Nice video once again. Wife an I did that in either 1999 or 2000 on the Marco Polo. From Athens to Istanbul. Did some islands in about 12 days or so. Our favorite cruise. Love your reviews.
Another great video! My family and i are going on a cruise in December this year and your videos have been really informative and they have helped us understand more about cruising. 😀
@@tipsfortravellers We're going on a Royal Caribbean cruise around the pacific islands for 14 days. I'm going with my parents and my younger brother. (Thanks for replying btw) 😄
in our first cruise on costa atlantica we have visited Rhodes, Napoli, Messina, Limoassol, Santorini, Katakolon, and Marmaris. i agree these places are must to visit and really enjoyed them as we believe that these places are enough to visit for one day via cruises
Another nice thing about the Adriatic approach is that Corfu and the Ionian islands have lots of trees and offer a contrast to the more bare and stony islands of the Aegean.
Gary, your videos are so helpful. Greece and the Greek Isles are on the top of my wishlist, and I think that when the time comes, my first cruise will be to this area of the world. I really enjoy all of your videos as I am a traveler who also appreciates art, history, culture, and local cuisines. And of course, your voice and presentation style are delightful! Thank you!
we’re going Athens round trip in early October.we are supposed to have about 3 days in Israel. Plus Crete is on the itinerary. We are going with Holland America for the first time as I liked their itinerary best. We usually sail with Oceania or Viking. I was wondering what the weather will be like then. We’ve been to Athens, Santorini, Kusadasi and Rhodes before, but this also goes to Cyprus. I hope we will like Holland America, we have been very spoiled before. I booked a Vista suite on deck 7.
Planning on doing the Azamara Intensive Adriatic Seas trip next year....LOVED Croatia. Like the idea of staying in a smaller area and really explore....
Hello Gary--I just discovered your delightful channel yesterday. I'm planning a cruise to Italy, Malta, & the Greek Islands. If you include suggestions on where to shop in your videos, that would be beneficial, especially for expensive items. For instance, on a Caribbean cruise I took, the cruise director recommended "Touch of Gold," as a good place for jewelry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I purchased a bracelet there, which is my favorite. An example, would be to mention a glass place in Venice that you could direct your viewers to that would be appreciated. Also, a good place to have a snack or meal while in port would be helpful, in particular for long port times of 8-12 hours. We have to know where the safe places are to eat, otherwise having an upset stomach could ruin our cruise. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE--GREAT CHANNEL.
I live in Turkey. What problems are there in Turkey that aren’t in Europe or US? Also Turkey gets overall way more tourists than Greece. Who cares if Islamophobic US cruise lines come to Turkey or not. They should be careful not to get shot in their wild west.
I truly appreciate your professionalism in presenting quality information in the creating of these videos. Thank you so much.
Great to hear! Thanks. Much appreciated

Great advice as always

Sounds great! Hope you have a great time. I really enjoyed Azamara
Because of your comments, I researched the ship. I prefer smaller ship around that area.

Excellent 💖
thank you very informative.
Yes smaller cruise ships go to different places and are quieter ships but the problem is they generally cost twice as much e.g.. Silvrsea and Azamar.
Jim McIntosh that is what I have found.
its a pity they don't do Istanbul anymore 😒 but great video I agree the eastern med is beautiful
Agree. Istanbul is fascinating
Crete!!!!!
land plus sea tours allow you to visit land locked places and enjoy floating resort, making expensive excursions un necessary.
i just wish more cruises were later in the season, as I hate the heat.
What's the weather like in October around the Mediterranean?
israel, morocco, middle east africa are sometimes mediterranean destinations
You might want to point out that Greece is a lot of hills and stairs.
Could you tell me the name of the caves you talked about on the island of Gythion please? Thanks
hello does anyone know ofcruises that embark venice..but dis embark at athen? in other words... I fly into venice.. but fly back from athens.
I just wondered if on your cruises you ever ran into Jane MacDonald ?
Not yet !
I think this ride 6:30 would freak me out.
what about ithica?
Thalassophobia. I ain’t getting on a boat of any kind except for kayak or canoe. Greece needs to be less sea-y and more densely forested land-y. 😂

turkey is getting bad bro nothing about muslims
