Hello folks. I ordered Callaloo from you 2 seasons ago. Those seeds germinated still this year. I've seen comments about it being amaranth, but it seems to be different from that. Thanks for all you do. Dave
I accidentally found a plant of this variety growing in my yard.I got many plants from it but now they have all seeded so I am trying to replant to retain them now that the rainy season is coming. I have reaped much but came here to find out how to keep them from seeding too quickly.Listening to you I now know how far apart they should be planted. The ones that were in pots by themselves thrived better .The others were too close.Thank you !
Thank you for greens care. My neighbor probably wonders why I am daily peering at my very small urban garden. I have learned from real growers such as you to constantly watch the growth for changes and any infestation.
I live in Ottawa and believe me, we have harsh winters with feet of snow. Every year I have to weed out most of the callaloo. They survive our harsh winters. Soon I will be going out and plucking out the smaller ones and leaving the bigger ones.
Incredible garden, you can see the hard work. I am going to replant callaloo this week. The bugs ate all of mine down but I will use diatomaceous earth this time.
I've never heard of amaranth called callaloo. I thought I found a new veggie to try. Your garden is absolutely beautiful 💜💜 Praise God for your bounty 🙏 Love from another Georgian 🙏💜🙏
I continue to learn from you always interesting. I live in New Jersey I gott seeds from you last year. I grew my callaloo in an elevated self watering container. There were tons of seeds. I was unable to collect all the seeds and left a lot in the raised garden. Well this spring i had thoudands of seedlings , maybe millions. I am offering friends and anyone who wants and will be preparing some for the freezer.
We cook it the same as we do spinach. I can also be juiced for someone with an iron deficiency. Yes you eat the leaves but the stalls can also be eaten if they are soft and not woody. Just strip them first. We have a video on how to clean and cook callaloo.
Hey there! This is broad leaf callaloo also known as cow tongue or Jamaican callaloo. You can get our seeds from our seed shop at the link in our description box above!
@@inhiscare1 we cook and eat it the same as you would spinach. Very nutritious and rich in iron, vitamins A, B, and C as well as fiber. It thrives in heat and will grow as long as the weather is hot. Once it begins to cool down, it will go to seed.
If the leaves of the corn is drying does that mean its done growing i think calaloo is the pretiest greens in the garden did u plant okra yet when you do organic ferti your food taste so much better
Hi there! Dying leaves can many several things depending on the length of time your corn had been planted. Did you see ears on your corn stalks. The ears of corn will be ready long before the stalk and leaves start to dry up. Unless there was a severe drought that would also cause the drying up on the leaves prematurely. We planted okra and had to go in a replant some as well because the rolly lollies were eating the heart of the seedlings before they could even burst the dirt. We talking about it on our garden update a few videos back.
I live in Texas , what variety of calaloo are you growing . I ordered an African variety but it didn't look like what was pictured on the packaging. I could really use some guidance.
