Findin g a great swap meet deal and then modifying it to suit your project is one of life's great joys in my opinion. Looks amazing Gary, finishes off the rear end nicely.
That is how a back bumper we installed in a dune buggy we built back in 1987 mounted; to the shock towers. I believe it was Bugpack and the mounts to the towers were very flimsy. I believe you are making everything better and stronger.
They still make them that bolt both ways but it was a cheap score at a swap meet so I couldn’t pass it up. Should be stronger than before and do all I ever need it to.
Gary you did a great job on the engine guard and hitch.I'm old school and I hate roof racks.(Everyone's Different ) I fell they take away from the curve of the roof on bugs. But it's your car do what you want sir.Glad your shoulders doing good
Hey man, You nailed it. It's perfect. You could tow a tank with that. Hasn't this build really come together. You gotta be proud of what you've achieved. So Anyhoo thanks for sharing now the roof rack. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
You have done an amazing job one it, the bug looks frigging amazing. And your welds are 🤌👌, apologies I havent been able to watch it until tonight, working nights sucks
@@VWJawbreaker forgot to ask, which air shocks did you go for? Monroe again? My front torsion bars are crap on the bug, I keep thinking of getting the monroe ones on the front, same as you did on Jawbreaker
Great work , i just got the same kit and was about to do the same with the rear , now you have just made my job twice as easy with this video thank you 👍
Nice work Gary. Love to watch the creativity developing the project. Overkill on the metal work. On mine they just squashed the pipe at the shock mount. But I’m not pulling a trailer!
Looks great. I think if you had cut a section out of the lower tube, the tow bar welded in the middle would have been well strong enough for what you would be using it for. Still over engineering isn't a bad thing.
That’s probably true and I agree it would have worked. However I had everything laying around so I wasn’t out anything and like you said, it’s over engineered, which is a theme around here lol
Looking awesome man. I love that you moved the plate. Looks great. As for the camera issues, consider switching over to time lapse mode when your just welding and stuff and not giving commentary, I know there's no sound, but it doesn't heat up the camera as much. Regardless, love the video... I never really considered towing with a Baja, but with that sweet motor of yours, its gonna do great with the trailer. I can't wait to see the final product!
You kind sir are a professor of fabricationology. Man that looks awesome. You did a great job.!!!
Wow, thanks!
What you came up with, seems much stronger than the original design, and your welds certainly aren’t going anywhere. I approve this bumper!👍
Thank you sir! It should be good for anything that I’ll want to do. It is a VW anyway 😂
Excellent work Gary that turned out fantastic!
Thank ya sir!

I agree, really helps the budget when you can save a ton plus you can make any changes necessary.
Appreciate you as always.

Just came across your video...only 3 minutes in an I gotta say "The 'Sickxty'' is cleeeeeean!" Very nice looking build & I've only seen the back!"
Compared to where we started this is a totally different car!

Awesome job Gary.

The roof rack is going to be different so hopefully it’ll compliment the curve if the roof…. That’s the plan anyway.
Hi Gary, sickxty really came out cool. you did a great job on her.

This is what we call 'Clyde Built' in Scotland, well over engineered like the Clyde shipyards built. Well done looks great... 😀
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Good looking bumper 👍
Thank you.
Great design mate, no one will tail gate you with that set up 👊🏽😎😊
Hopefully not!
Nicely done 👍

Yeah it’s overkill but I wanted to ensure it’s was there to stay and it’s what I had laying around.
Hope all is well!

It’s tempting but I think I should pass 😂

Great job man Master fabricator!! Still use the titanium 90% of the time?? I still want one
Thanks, I appreciate that!
I’ve switched back to the titanium from the yes welder… Botha elf good. Most of the car was built with the yes welder.
