    Pegula looked really off, so many errors, some of that attributable to Gauff's speed. Regardless, I still don't see major changes to Gauff's forehand. Hoping something drastically changes in the off season with her new coach. Happy to see her really cut down on the double faults. Major improvement with the second serve today.

      This doesn’t make sense Gauff’s forehand has been much better since Beijing and many people have noticed

      She literally changed her grip lol

      @bryancarson5908 there is still a huge gulf between her backhand and forehand. The swing is way too long and loopy still and that's evident even in this video with all the mistakes she made on that side due to Pegula targeting it. Her backhand goes through the court MUCH faster. It just shows how good she is that she can still beat almost everyone when her ceiling is so much higher.

      @ yeah she had a grip change only a month and a half ago - it is going to take time to strengthen. Her forehand is the best it’s been in Beijing and Wuhan and today was a great showing. It’s not breaking down under pressure, she’s able to use a variation of flat shots and spins, and also her placement is on point. Her forehand now is better than what it was during the 2023 NA swing. I think it’ll be a threat next year. Let’s wait and see - she’s still 20.

      also i think in regards to coco’s forehand, pegula hits a flat low ball that really is a bad match up coco, who loses control when she has to hit up and needs to work on the specific part of her technique, but i am curious to see how her forehand works against a heavier more topsinny forehand (iga or sabalenka)

    What a good match from Coco! JP seemed to be in good form, but it looks like her confidence in some of her strokes was lacking.

    Believe me, if coco gets stronger she'll be like serena for sure. Because her defensive skills is great.😂😂😂

      This has racial undertones the fact she is being compared to Serena simply because she’s black and “strong”. I’m so tired of the racial comparisons. This does not happen with white players

      @Repent-p3k 12 часов назад +1

      @j-dub6122 nobody mentioned anything about race. Can't you see she hit the ball cleanly but with less power, if she gets stronger her serve , backhand and forehand will be booming. And unbreakable. Tennis wise no race wise.

    If Pegula could retire from the tournament, she would in a heartbeat. I bet she’s thinking about it right now, but she knows it would upset the WTA and Saudi too much, she could lose her next match 6-1 6-1, there’s no desire there.

  • @Thomas-u1r
    @Thomas-u1r День назад

    wow, Pegula is done, she looked so slow, it's obvious she hasn't been working out to keep her game up, this was no indication that Guaff is playing well, Pegula is just really, really bad
