Boris Tchaikovsky (1925-1996) was a Russian composer. Unrelated to his most famous namesake Piotr Illych, he became one of the most prominent students in the class of Shostakovich and considered among his musical heirs. Music coming from his early period is characterized by directness and ingenuity, albeit some conservativeness for it was conceived during the Zhdanovschina. One of the most important works of this period is the Suite for the radiophonic version of Korolenko’s The Murmuring Forest, a revenge tale in which a serf puts an end to the despotic machinations and treatment of his master. The score, originally thought lost, was found lingering in the Moscow Radio Archives and recorded here for the first time.
Boris Tchaikovsky (1925-1996) fue un compositor ruso. Si bien no tiene relación familiar con su conocido tocayo Piotr Ilich, se volvió uno de los estudiantes más importantes de Shostakovich y se le considera entre sus herederos musicales. La música de su primer periodo se caracteriza por ser directa e ingeniosa, muy a pesar de su conservadurismo al ser compuesta durante la Zhdanovschina. Una de las obras más importantes de éste periodo fue la suite para la versión radiofónica de El Bosque Murmurante de Korolenko; una historia de venganza en la que un siervo pone fin al maltrato y a las despóticas maquinaciones del caballero a quien sirve. La partitura, alguna vez perdida, fue encontrada en los archivos de la radio de Moscú y grabada aquí por vez primera.
