I purchased a 2004 model brand new 0% financing.. it's now February 2024 and it's still my daily driver. With almost 300,000 miles, this has been hands down the best vehicle I ever owned and still runs like a sewing machine. Definitely not getting rid of this vehicle but looking for another SUV and if the Lincoln Aviator is half the vehicle this has been I'll still be happy.. You cannot go wrong with a Sport Trac they're about bulletproof . Mine still looks incredibly good ..have done all the maintenance and repaired everything that needs to be repaired as with any vehicle.
My husband adores his 2004 4x4 Sport Trac, to the point where we're saving for a new engine, not a new vehicle. lol (No issues now, but it has over 220k miles, so it will inevitably need rebuilt.)
I got an 07 limited 6 months ago,(my first vehicle ever) and it had some issues. But I loved it so I fixed it up and its running like new again!!! At work, quite a few farmers(we buy rice from farmers) told me they were looking at that truck while it was on the lot at the dealership. If I didn't get it when I did, I wouldn't have gotten it. Love it so much.
I have a 2007 Limited 4x4 V8 with just over 90k miles. Big enough for family camping, too small to help anyone move. I actually love the door release handle seems more eronomic and intuitive. Height of bed is great cubic ft space for mulch, dirt, ...
That V8 is a beast. I love the uniqueness of it but just can't get over the impracticality of it as you mentioned. If it got decent MPG it would be a win but otherwise the maverick is a great reiteration
Nice video. Low key compared to "RUclipsrs" but not boring either These came out at the time when i was looking into my first car in high school. I thought they were neat in high school and i still like these today though I never owned one
I got 2005 sport trac XLT with 350,000miles rear Wheel drive love doing Donuts rainy days one owner live South Carolina runs great here in mountains. Off-road 2.
I have 2008 Ford Sports trac xlt - i've had it since then - and I love this truck. it has 181000 mile on it, and don't want to buy a new truck , does anyone know how much it would it cost to rebuild the total truck to new standards?
You missed the most ultimate Sport Trac of all times the Adrenaline... amazing body graphics and design with peppy performance of the 4.6. I honestly think an updated version of this vehicle would sell like hotcakes
This kinda caught my eye too while I was looking for a used midsized pick up or sport ute as an outdoor recreational vehicle. Your video helped a lot. I appreciate you.
My firat vehicle was a 2002 sportrac. It didn't have 4x4 which was only downside for me... but I couldn't have had a more reliable and amazing first vehicle and stayed strong wth no issues for 10 years
Just bought a 2010 Sport trac limited with 210k miles. From what the truck in your video sounds like and how you described, it’s sounds like at almost double the mileage. The Sport trac has held up really well.
The Sport Trac Adrenaline has been my dream truck since I was in highschool! I've been looking for one, without 200k miles 😂😂😂! These things were used and abused. No doubt!!
@@BernonCars They came out in 2008 during the recession and only made until 2010 so very few were sold. Tragically this was the last of the Sport Trucks, like the tacoma X runner or Chevy S-10 Extreme. I really wish they would do sporty slightly lowered trucks with body kits again.
I love the first gen Sport Trac. A friend of mine got a brand new one in high school and it was a wonderful little truck. I might pick one up next summer as an extra vehicle. Edit: Those SOHC 4.0L engines are 'junk'. As much as I love these trucks, it would be wise to be careful. They MUST have their oil changed religiously every 3k miles because of the timing chain. The engine has three timing chains, there is one from the crank to the jackshaft, one in the front of the engine to drive the cam for the left bank, and one more on the back to drive the cam for the right bank. It is not so much the chain but the chain guides are plastic and with dirty and hot oil they wear prematurely. VERY expensive to repair and may as well buy a totally remanufactured engine with the known issues fixed. I had an 04 Explorer up until recently with 148k miles and it ran fantastic but she did like to slowly leak a smidge of oil, but never had to add any oil. I changed the oil every 6-months or 3k miles, it was a secondary vehicle and it never left town, even though it was in great condition. So as stated, I'd love to have one but service records are a must have or skip the first generation and get the second generation with the V8.
Nice vid but I have to correct you about the full time all wheel drive, this gen of explorer had rwd bias all wheel drive, while the later generations had fwd bias, I believe you mixed up the two
I have a 4.6 4x4 Sport Trac, it's absolutely not front wheel drive! The full-time four wheel drive system is Borg Warner's Torque on Demand, which is _rear_ wheel drive by default, with a computer-controlled clutch locking the front wheels to the rear in increments, up to full lockup. With the 4.6 motor it's possible to get a little _rear_ wheel spin before ToD and traction control kicks in. With Michelin X Ice tires, my Sport Trac was very stable through Wisconsin winters and a Chicago blizzard or two, and with all season tires it gets through New Mexico dirt roads no problem.
great video and great truck. I have a 2007 IronMan edition 4x4 V6. That thing has been offroad and rear-ended by a camry at 50 mph, still going strong. 150k miles and it still runs well. 5-speed is holding up well. I just had to get some front-end suspension work done and it drives like new now.
I LOVE my truck. On my second one. Coming from a luxury sedan I am not cramped and can tow and haul. Perfect for me. Found in the ATL area where they seem to breed like rabbits😜. Here in florida they were very rare.
This vs the explorer 2010 don’t they all just suffer of transmission issues ? I’m asking because I’ve owned one for 2 years and it’s really bankrupting me (I own the explorer 2007 tho) is there something different about this one ?

Is the 2002 sport trac worth the buy? Ive heard alot of good and bad

Can it tow a trailer? I have the same with 62000 original miles on it from my late granny.
@LovelyBri depending on the size/weight of the trailer...Yes
