When you share stories of your loved ones, the more people who know, the longer that loved one lives on. In this way, we keep our loved ones immortal. Now every time I see poppies, I will remember your mum and how a loving daughter shared her memory with us. Thank you. Saludos desde Asturias. (And membrillo is very yummy.)
loved your video like everyone else. I learned and laughed a lot with the quinces' antics. Thanks. I'm 73 years old, I live in Sintra, I'm Portuguese and believe me, I smelled it when you was picking the fruits for marmalade or roasts. Hugs to the couple and may the rain come for all of us
Meraid and Dan, this is especially lovely to follow along as you tidy & harvest your garden and get to replant so many baby self seeders. Lovely remembrance of your beautiful mum.
Happy BIrthday to your beautiful mother 💐 and Congrats to you both for what you created on that naked land ... when you bought the property. You made an Eden on Earth, so beautiful, full of life and positive energy. Your passion and pride shows from every plant and tree and your vlogs are a real pleasure ☺
Hi, we love membrillo and passion fruit. How beautiful to see the fruits of your labor! California poppies are so beautiful…love to see your get all these free plants! Great job. Stay well.
I never plant a quince tree in my garden but a pear tree and 1 year I forget to take off all the green tthinks growing from the base. And spring the following year it was cover by some light pink big flowers. As thepear tree was always poor in leaves, fruits, I choose to let the quince tree grows ( pear tree is growing on quince tree roots). Now I have a big bush around the pear tree, with leaves early in the year until late, not like the pear tree, beautiful flowers and then quinces too give a nice fragrance home, do dome quince jam or jelly, even cook as vegetables. It go well xith apples, pears.
My mum brought me over a packet of shamrock seeds, took me 15+ years, after she had passed, to actually throw some in a pot. Didn’t expect them to even grow. But they did. Now they are popping out in all my indoor plant pots. And every time I see them I think of her❤
Thank you so much. Seeing you with your garden and making quince jam “marmelada”, harvesting olives, and talking about the kindness and compassion of the Portuguese people brings back fond memories of my grandmother avo’ . My family migrated to California from Portugal and we still cook traditional meals. California has a large Portuguese population. We still have festivals “festas” and bull fights, and many cities still have “Holy Ghost Festivals. PS My avo’ would have watered your window boxes. Thanks again . Abrigada Tony C.

I absolutely love watching your videos not only to see what you two are doing but to admire your beautiful surroundings! Beautiful memories of your mum and she was beautiful herself! I see where you get your beauty from!
I loved your video - very relaxing to watch on a Sunday morning over a cup of tea. Can’t wait for the house to be done and for you guys to settle in. I absolutely love membrillo with a bit of hard cheese, quite tricky to find here, but when I do I always stock up. You house must have smelt wonderful when you made the jam!
Your garden is so beautiful I never get tired of watching! I saw you at Indigo Escape helping out in their garden. It is nice to see people helping people! They are a lovely couple as both of you are also! Take care! See you next time.
Marmelos are commonly used to make marmalade. The British term "marmalade" originates from the Portuguese word "marmelada," even though in the UK it is typically made with oranges. In my region, marmelos turn yellow when ripe, but even then they remain quite sour. My mother used to have a craving for raw marmelos when she was pregnant with me, so it is possible to consume them uncooked.
They are indeed dormant in summer, but they have to come out of the ground for the winter as it gets rather wet and chilly here. I have many different aeoniums that I’ve grown for years. I brought lots of cuttings with me as I couldn’t bring the full plants. They’re all looking great and growing big in pots. 😊
Oh, OK! I forget that in Central Portugal gets much colder than in the Porto area, which is where I live😊, here, all my plants, including the succulents stay all year in the same spot in the garden. We rarely get below zero degrees temperature. Love your videos
