  • A really great novel about a man seemingly stuck in the past, but also unwilling to face the truth about his behaviour. We see the reverberations of how it affects everyone around him, and yet, he chooses to see things through his own biased memory.

Thank-you Maxwell. The last few years have been especially good for finding great books to read. I would like it if my videos were a little better, but I try to keep them short and just make a few comments that will hopefully encourage people to give these great books a try.
      Thanks for the kind words!

I really enjoy your videos after a long day at work and after that with my little boy (1 year, 9 month). It's my little pleasure time, when he is (finally) asleep, to have a beer and watch your book reviews. Gives me good vibes. Thank you!
Btw: I loved the remains of the day but didn't like never let me go. Not sure about ishiguro so far.

Hello KainUndAbel, Thanks a lot for watching my videos, I am sorry I can't watch yours. Ich spreche Deutsch wie eine Kuh, die den Schönheitswettbewerb gewinnt.
The Remains of the Day is really a triumph. You didn't like Never Let Me Go? I suppose it got a bit high-handed towards the end. I liked that he seemed to set up a twist, but to give it away on page 80, that it wasn't really a twist and anyone could have figured that part of the story out for themselves.
When We Were Orphans is really annoying, and The Unconsoled is too long, it's like he was just having fun with himself.
But this one is good, I really recommend you give it a try! Hope you are well in Germany!

Thanks for your honesty regarding world affairs.
I relate 100%. Fortunately al my friends are in the same boat.
Needless to say we are artists, and even those of us who are writers share similar non-priorities.
Thanks for your honesty all around!

My pleasure Constance, I am glad you enjoy the videos. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and the support. Sometimes I get a bit down and wonder how much longer I want to keep going with the channel. But then I get some nice comments and that gives me a lot of renewed enthusiasm. Thanks!

Right. Nagasaki. There's a catchy song named _Nagasaki._ Maybe that's what you are thinking of. ("Nagasaki" is an American jazz song by Harry Warren and Mort Dixon from 1928 and became a popular Tin Pan Alley hit.)

Thanks Deb! I will let him know. We are happy because he is a very happy baby... when he is not screaming bloody murder because he wants to be picked up.
