I love Vonzell and my favorite from the contestants that covered this song.. But she had some struggle with the first half.. The end was great. Clive Davis had a point tho: She shouldnt had a smile on her face on a song like this. It totally disconnected from the feeling, She should have took lessons from Anwar and other contestants that you can´t sacrifice half of the song just to nail some hight notes at the end. Not enough. She was killer on her other two/fun performances tho. Vonzell´s problem on her season was the lack of depth and more estable vocals on most of her ballads. Comming after a season with the three divas/Fantasia as a winner and two R&B/soul singers winning back to back, people were more into the first great country and the great rock/soul singer to grace the show, despister Vonzell infectious personality.
Vonzell killed this vocal..it was simply timing..and after Ruben and Fantasia..no 1 expected her to sell..eventho she couldve outsold both of them..terrible situation...such a beauty
I think Vonzell sang all the songs almost perpectly during AI. Doubtless, She has amazing and powerful voice.I think she sang the best among those who sang this song in this competition.
Letoya London is the best singer Idol has ever had. Technical perfection. But Vonz has the best voice if u ask me. She was just doing vocal gymnastics all over this season. And still to this day.
season 4 were great..Vonzell with her R&B root..Bo Bice with Rock & Roll and Carrie with her Country root..three deserved to be the top 3..the best top 3 of all season

I don't really like comparing Vonz to Carrie, but Vonzell singing this blew carries "Man I feel Like a Woman" away vocally and performance wise, and she went on to have 3 solid performances that night, I'm hoping big things for her eventually, she has the voice and the personality to be huge.
@LushedMonkey She has an album coming out this summer and released a single called dirtbag available to download on itunes and cdbaby. She just released it not too long ago. She's about to make it big if her fans show strong support her.
@LifeintheformofSean she actually made that album before idol and put it on itunes after. Although I do think the first album wasn't even bad her music has still gotten A LOT better. Check out her song Dirtbag, for example. She's trying to get her new material out but management was was holding her back. Now she's finally trying to do her own thing. That's why it's taking a while for her to get out there. I have tons of faith in her though

I guess it's the style that vonzell sang it in I guess it's her runs and range tone like a younger Whitney Houston .singing her cousin dione warwicks hit ballad...imagine if Whitney had done her own cover version of this song. It would've been mind blowing.

Yep, Fantasia got enough album sales worldwide after releasing her I Believe but I think consumers now are wiser. Since Fantasia, Tamyra and Latoya have same genre - there are so many great voices, pretty looking and especially modern style in their voices like Beyonce, Rihanna, etc. which these female black AI alumni got common style in their voices.
