Sailing the Bauer 10 Tender
Location: Dunedin Causeway to Honeymoon Island - West Central Florida
Boat: 1988 Bautech 10' - Upgraded standing and running rigging
What happens when you forget to install springs into the clevis pins on your shroud fittings?
In my hurry to get onto the water I did not finish the setup of the standing rigging - omitting the springs that keep the shroud pins in place.
A Nice scramble ensues to try to keep the mast in the boat - and minimise any damage to the mast base.
Luckily this incident occured on shore - and not some distance away in deeper waters.
Also, nice that the spare parts container was on-board and at hand - allowing for a quick retrieval of spare parts.
Lessons learned - a smooth sail follows.
