    Doesn’t Tesco do individual chocolate croissants baked in store? Think that would be a fairer comparison 😉

    • @benwu7980
      @benwu7980 6 дней назад

      The 4 pack was unfair. Here they do have individuals, but I believe that they are the usual Cuisine De France frozen stuff that are then baked in-store.

    Harrods £65, TESCO £15. Ask yourself, is Harrods over four times better tasting? Been to Harrods a few times, the food Hall is fantastic, normally buy 2 of 3 bits as treat but that’s about it.

    I used to always get Tesco's food when was living in the UK. Their bakery, fresh ready made pies and quiches, frozen food and even canned foods. They also had THE BEST meat free products. Everything was SO delicious and good price. It allowed me to eat nice foods on a budget.

    Just a tip on getting the best out of the squadgy supermarket croissaints/pain au chocolate, you need to heat them up in the oven at 150C fir about 3-5mins and then let it cool for a minute and you get a lovely crispness on the outside and fluffiness on the inside. Still not as good as the bakery made ones but way better than eating them straight out of the packet.

    I am not one to blindly say a cheap thing is good/tastes name brand, in fact, I am incredibly fussy on that and very few things enter my cheap but great space!
    However, Tesco's own ready salted crisps are far and away the nicest ready salted crisps I have ever tasted! Absolutely love them! Also, if you gave me a glass of Ribena and a glass of their own black currant I could not tell you the difference! Every other black currant outside of Ribena I find vile, yet Tesco's is once again super good! Also, slightly unrelated but shout out to Lidl's chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. It's loaded with chunks and the ice cream and dough taste super nice and have a great texture! You are not missing Ben and Jerry's if you eat that! Weirdly Aldi's version was awful though haha

    • @benwu7980
      @benwu7980 6 дней назад

      It's not like Tesco (or Lidl etc) are the producers of pretty much any pre-packaged stuff with their brand on it. Who they use for some of their products can be a little intriguing to guess at, and they can have subtle differences from the actual branded ones.
      It's funny looking back at the time I worked in a bakery. The same bread mix, would get baked, then sliced, then wrapped into either their branded ones, or 2 or 3 shop own brands depending on what orders were in.
      The branded ones would sit next to the shop ones, at around double the price, and some people said they tasted different and worth the extra cost.
      When would do the restock in the afternoon while getting next days orders, if the shop needed more of their own or the brand ones, we had a wrapping machine with the various wrappers in the back of the van, and would just swap the wrapper.

      Yeah, they can easy load up the packaging machines with alternate branded stuff, but they rarely alter that stamping machine too much. Nutritional values are handy for that too, or the percentages in the ingredients. They can have variances though.
