Where has this series been all my life? Lemme just say, this has been a joy to watch in 2020. Thanks for making these videos.

Thanks for explaining really well how the expansion link/steam cutoff works! 😄

I realize this is an older video, however, a little tip if you ever have to do something similar in the future. Use a program to put a cross mark in the center of every hole you plan on drilling before printing the pattern out and you will always be on center using a center punch at the crossing of the lines. Just an idea that absolutely helps.

When working to a template like that, I always like to have the centers of the holes or other radii marked on the drawing itself. It's generally easy to put a little cross-hair or dot at the hole center when you make the drawing. Then you have a mark to put your center punch in to locate the drills. You can do the same things at the ends of the slot, and a centerline drawn down the slot would have mad it easy to center punch to locate the holes for chain drilling the slot.
Of course, a rotary table would make the process a lot easier and quicker, but there's nothing wrong with the way you're doing it. Parts have been made by filing to a line for centuries, and with care (and a lot of time) precision work can be done that way.

Wow ! This was very impressive, that shaking table / vice would drive me insane great job though

You might consider carburizing that part after you work out the bugs.

Aren't the two eccentrics 90 degrees out of phase? I think you said 180 in the video.
I'm enjoying this series no end. If I need to mellow out, I watch Keith Appleton. If I need some excitement, I come here.

is there a central set of plans we can use to build along with you?

I won't release the drawings until the engine is completed as I haven't finished it yet and many things may change as I am building it and want to improve / fix things.

Files only cut in forward direction, but good work I’ve had to do the same myself with no milling machine.
