    @The Engineering Mindset It's always good to see another informative video from your channel, keep up the great work....however I need to correct an aspect you mentioned which is false, The markings on hobby servos don't arbitrarily indicate torque capabilities as stated, for example those small blue servos commonly known as SG90s do in fact weigh approximately 9g and are commonly described that way for use in light RC aircraft, their torque rating is around 1.6kg/cm and have a voltage range of 4.8V to 6.0V.

    At 2:05 shouldn't the weight be 8.33kg at 3cm (or the distance be 4 cm for 6.25kg)?

    • @varunlolla2654

      I had the exact same doubt. Maybe the distance is supposed to be 4 cm.

    Just a heads up, larger motors show the torque rating on the servo, but micro servos it is actually the weight. Micro servis can typically deliver 1-2 kg-cm of torque. Also, at 3 cm, a 25 kg motor can support 8.33 kg, not 6 kg. You just divide the torque by distance in cm from the center of mass.

    You should make a video on industrial servo motors instead of rc servo motors. They’re basically the same but they have a lot of technical differences.

      @@Pyth110 well.... It's important. There are lots of engineers that think that it is the only servo you can buy. I know RUclips is not the place where an engineer should learn, but education in some countries... and the name of the channel... you know

    I like your channel and you have done a great job. However, this servo motor video is a bit misleading because it mainly deals with servo motors intended for consumer and toy use. Devices and machines such as industrial robots use completely different types of servomotors. They have an absolute encoder directly on the axis of the ac servo motor and the transmission uses planetary gears or even better gear solutions. The servo controller is also a separate device with very versatile features.

    2:05 I thought that with torq you double the length and half the torq. The last image shows the weight at the 4th hole (4cm), but is labeled 3 cm. The weight is half the 2cm value, so I think the lable is incorrect.
    Just wanted to point this out. Great video as always.

    • @dasboots3272
      @dasboots3272 Год назад +1

      Remember that torque equals force times distance. For a motor the torque value is the constant. Most often people discuss how a longer lever makes it easier because they apply a constant force. Just throw some numbers into the formula and solidify your understanding. T=F*d.

    • @tapuska650
      @tapuska650 Год назад +2

      @@dasboots3272That still doesn't explain the numbers. If T=constant, then F*d has to stay constant too. If lenght is d*3, then F has to be F/3, which it isn't in the video.

    A 9gram servo does in fact refer to its weight and in turn its size. They are much more capable than a measly 9grams of force. Do you think you stalled your servo by holding it with 9grams of force?

  • @snowpaw360
    @snowpaw360 Год назад +1

    Also apparently servo motors are very efficient, hence why the wood lathe by Harvey can get away with a 1HP servo motor.

    1:31 the Micro Servo 9g does not have a rating of 9g. It weights 9g. It's got a rating of 1.6 kg / cm.

  • @Ozzy3333333

    You forgot about the signal, what it is, how it works, the different protocols and refresh rates, and standard servos are simple dc brush motors with encoder attached, your video title should be RC servos.
