Your new home is so beautiful. I grew up with a bathtub, and while I don't think I'd choose to have a bath every night like I did as a kid, there is something to be said for the experience of a good soak once in a while.
I love that you’re really showing that being zero waste and eco friendly can also be maximalist/artsy/fun! So much of the “eco aesthetic” is minimal and white… which I personally hate 😅 Leo is definitely my favourite part of your bathroom, I want a Leo in my bathroom!
There's nothing wrong with reusing the paper that loo rolls come wrapped in but make sure it's a good friend that knows you if you're gonna give them a present with "who gives a crap" on it 🤣
Smaller baththubs don't consume much water since your body fills most of it. I love long showers & by not filling the bathtub too much, I save a ton of water 😁
Regarding the tub thing, something I never would’ve thought of when we were buying a house, but my mom mentioned to me is IF you want to have kids at some point, you pretty much need to have a tub for that. And depending on when you might be selling the house in the future, it can be a deterrence to not have a tub as it rules out pretty much anyone with small kids or who is planning to have kids as a potential buyer. Obviously, this is a specific situation, and not necessarily relevant for someone who isn’t planning to have kids or sell their house in the near future, but just a consideration factor I wouldn’t have thought of on my own!
Love the golden/blue combo. So pretty! For the secondary bathroom, because it's so cold in it's colors, I think I'd use a warm toned paint when you paint it, to warm it up a little. You could consider painting the mirror frame and cabinet as well, to add some warmth, because I think the black might enhance that cool tone of the room. Just a thought.
I´d say a bathub isn't a horrible idea, especially if you don't use it often. It can also be handy to wash big things (especially if trifted or found and are dirty). or to wash Molly! (I know is not a big dog, but might be handier(?). I'd say a bathtub is both a bath and a shower as long as you have the showehead installed, which can be a good things, as you're not loosing anything that you alreay have, but gain a bathub! Plus, if you decide to have kids, is also a handy and fun for them, and I'm sure there is a million ways to find a new purpose to the water used (maybe a circuit that brings the bath water to the WC, and use that water for flushes!)
Depending on how high you fill the bath it’s probably more economical in terms of water to use than a shower. There are calculators online but if you were going to spend 15 mins in the shower washing your hair, face, body, shaving, hair mask etc then you will have used more water than if you floated around in the bath for an hour doing the same thing!
I have only a tub and, meh! water became cold really quickly in a tub, so the whole idea of stay there and relax thing work to a point - unless you add hot water every now and then. And actually washing and scrubbing in a tub isn't that glamorous. Add some "grass is always greener on the other side", but my long term plan is to get a proper shower and dismantle the tub.
My boyfriend and I do have a tub in our bathroom and we both hate taking a bath 😅 we just use it for showering our plants 🌱 And I’d paint the secondary bathroom in a burned orange colour! 🍁
I don't know if this is possible where you live but iffffff your backyard is private enough you technically could have an outdoor tub or a very small one or two seater above ground pool (for skinny dipping) or you could get a second hand kiddie pool for summer and let the sun heat the water naturally (zero waste goals) then the gray water can water your grass. I hope your tub time dreams eventually come true!
Do the bathtub if you really want to. I don't think you will have a bath soo often. It is good to treat yourself from time to time and release stress . Maybe you can add savon and not so much water. I have never filled it entirely.
I love who gives a crap! I'll never go back to any other toilet paper brand. Since my sister moved in and struggles with using reusables, we also grabbed some of their tissues and paper towels. We love them!
Thanks for making this video, Gittemary. My husband just asked me, yesterday, to decorate our master bathroom. We need to decide on a theme. I thought "what would G do?" So I made a list of themes I already love like Victorian, craftsman, cottagecore, Bohemian, and modern farmhouse... all of which would be fairly simple to thrift and/or upcyle from what I already have or trash! So keep us updated on your house decorating. Consider crafting/upcycling from trash? You've already started with stuffing your scrap fabric or "cabbage" into your pillows.
I personally also watch Rachel Maksy for her aesthetic, you migh want to check her out if you don't already. She also moved recently and she's decorating the house herself.
full body bathing has holistic and theraputic benefits. what about creating a wild swimming wallow in the garden while you ponder the ins and outs. I reuse bath water to water my salad plants,or to wash undergarments, dish cloths, tea towels. I dont use oils so my salad is fine with it. also for floor mopping, washing my cat litter tray etc. just about all my bathwater gets used a second time even if I just use it to sluice down my balcony.
Tubs do not need to be unsustainable. I kneel at the spigot and wash my hair as the tub fills. By the time I’m washed and conditioned and rinsed, there is 3-4 inches of water. That’s plenty for a good bath. I get out, dry off, bath the cat ( he loves warm water baths!) dry him off and go get the dog. ( she hates baths). Then I sieve the dog hair out and drain the tub. Try doing all that in a shower.!🧙🏻♀️🐱🦮I also wash dishes by hand and then use the sink of slightly grotty water to mop the kitchen floor with.
Early bird today, just here to tell I love to watch videos of all the different rooms, decor and thrift etc. ❤️ New home is very interesting in a way and the way you are explaining the transition and plans is very much engaging 💯
I neeeeeed that wall fish! Freggin amazing art and usable too 😍 and what made my eyes rest on this videos thumbnail was the cheetah. So maeby its a good spot for it? Lots of ideas for my sustainable bathroom, thanks 👍
I really love what you're doing with your new house! It's so exciting to watch you decorate! I hope to be where you are someday. I would love a house of my own!!! It's hard to afford one in the US. Congratulations on the new place! I can't wait to see what you decorate next!!
Okay hear me out, my friends call their second bathroom their "poop bathroom" because it's the extra toilet set apart where guests can do their business with some privacy. In summmary: I suggest to paint your second bathroom brown (but a pretty brown). Embrace the poop bathroom phenomenon.
Love the tour of your bathrooms, Gittemary! 😊 They both look pretty good. I would definitely paint the secondary one a warm colour. As for a tub, I personally am not a fan. I have one with jets, and I never use it. I would rather have just a shower, but I'm in a rental, so that is not an option. I know that baths are supposed to be good for the body, but they use so much water. Also, I can never get over the thought that you are soaking in your own dirt. Having a bath, I would always want to have a shower after to rinse off anyway. LOL But that's just me. 😄 I love your unique style of decorating, that you use mostly thrifted decor in your home (me too!). And it is so fun watching your new home get your own personal touches as you and Jens decorate. Plus I love how much you enjoy the process. Have fun! ♥♥
Yes!!! Love wgac! They have a Christmas series every year too so you can use that to wrap, and they have bamboo also so if you want ultra soft paper that’s an option! And you can add paper towels and tissues to your subscription 🥰
We have a bath and to help save with water I bath first then my hubby gets in after me. Plus u don’t have to fill it up too much, though u can stay in the bath longer. Xx
Again, I'm in love with the house content! For the painting of the bathroom: I'd suggest either a mustard/orange or maybe blue, so they come together in the over all interior? It would match nicely with both the seventies towels as well as the dark grey ones. I also like the idea of embracing the black (in the 2nd one) and go for a more dramatic/graphic vibe? And then Leo for contrast. I'm sorry if I'm going overboard but I just love thinking about interior design :D Can't wait to see all the next updates!
Another fantastic video Gittemary I use bamboo toilet roll ( it's not grown from the bamboo panda's eat). I use a bamboo toothbrush. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Gittemary.
how can we get you to take a few baths in your life?! you deserve it, and you can reuse the water for your garden? So it doesn't go to waste? You can route the drainage toward the garden or into a tank for saving..?! I hear what you're saying but I think having it for special moments is okay, also tubs are just useful for projects and pets and other dirty things lol
Hey, I'm just wondering. I saw the Rituals incense in your bathroom. What are your takes on Rituals? I can only find them doing not so bad but I'm not sure. Thank You!!
Thank you so much for your video I greatly appreciate it I've been following your videos for a very long time. Can you do zero waste mackup videos I enjoy your makeup videos please thank you lol 😎
3:34 are you using a Chloe perfume? Just wondering, because they test on animals, unfortunately. :/ Other than that, great video! I love that you have a really unique style when it comes to decorating your home! ♥
@@Gittemary Okay, thanks for answering! ☺️ I also shop secondhand a lot but when it comes to cosmetics and perfumes I can't do it when they were tested on animals. It just feels like wearing their pain and blood to look or smell better. But I might be extra sensitive because most of my pets are former lab animals. 😅😭
I feel you, sis. I also love to soak sometimes in a bath. To not feel guilty I see it as a "resort of my mental health". And I shower and wash myself shortly before and just soak (the Japanese way) in the tub, and after that (even some find it gross) I handwash some of my clothes in the tubwater and rinse it afterwards shortly with fresh water. For me it is completely fine, cause the clothes are often dirtier from all the chemicals (even I only buy secondhand) and the water has another usage and I don't feel guilty. 😬👌

Use your bath water to water your plants inside and outside.
It what they do in CA during water shortages.
Tub soaks are wonderful, especially with some epsom salts for achy muscles. I recommend 😁
Paint the second bathroom in like yellow brownish colour, use the cool brown yellow towel in the first bathroom as inspiration. :)

You could totally do a claw foot bath tub in the yard situation to use in the summer months 😍

a vibrant pink or dark blue would be beautiful in the bathroom!
A mustard shade will be great for the guest bedroom! I suggest just painting a wall, not all of them. Congratulations on the new house!

Molly is bilingual:) she obviously understands english as well. I like your bathroom(s), old towels are so cool!

Beautiful room! The leopard is hilarious. So refreshing to see something different from the extreme minimalist-white styles!

An outdoor tub maybe surrounded by ferns? Don't know if that is feasible where you are from with the ferns!
I don't know if this is your style but I love blue or green bright? pastel colors for a bathroom. Also I really miss having a bath tub😅😅

I love your new home, you are decorating it so nicely 🌟!
I really love all your homely touches in the bathroom. 🥰
Trying my best 🥰🥰
I don't like showering, I do what people did before: wash with a wash cloth then take a nice bath once a week
I love how you style everything and think Everything through :) Also I really randomly want a japanese soaking tub and I don't know why.
Maybe it’d great the colours of sunset 🌅 for the secondary bathroom !
Lovely!
