Here's what I love about the vintage sewers who wear their stuff everyday. No matter the culture, no matter how far back in time, their wardrobe NEVER goes out of style. That alone wins the internet.
@@janedoe4316 God Bless SewRena. She has a nice little figure that doesn't appear to change much except with pregnancy. Sigh...not my case. Alas. So, for her, everything she makes is a good investment in her time and money. And, I suppose, if she tires of an outfit, she could likely sell it via Etsy or somesuch. How I wish I were young again and sewing was not hard on my back. I could totally have gotten into this kind of thing.
My grandfather gave my Mother “Your Manners are Showing” when she was growing up. We had it in our family when I was a teenager. I acquired it as an adult without kids. However, I keep it prominently displayed for the nieces and nephews. 😊 I love it.
If you haven’t already heard of BLK MKT Vintage they have a great collection of Black vintage stuff-magazines, books, collectibles, etc. They can be pricey but it is Black owned and they have some cool finds. A great haul!
The way I see vintage home decor is, if anyone lives long enough they’re going to collect things from different decades. I think of my mom’s (50’s to 90’s) and my grandma’s (30’s to 70’s). Almost everything in my house once belonged to someone who has passed on from the 30’s to the 60’s. It’s solid furniture.
Very few pieces of furniture in our home have been purchased. All accumulated from my family and my husband’s. Some belonged to my great grandmother who died at age 97 in 1953. I don’t care for cheap furniture.
I had that design (your wallpaper) as material my mom made my curtains (Roman shades actually), in 1967🤗 I took Home Economics from 7th grade through 12th (graduated HS in 1970). We were using 1950s etiquette books in those classes - just wildly hysterical to us 😂. As for patterns, I’ve still got some from that era of my life & I have a couple from my mom & my GRANDMA 🤗 I did 40s-50s vintage in the late 80s/early 90s. Had my 2nd wedding in Chantelle lace dresses for me & my bridesmaid. My mom refused to wear the one SHE had worn in the early 60s to my aunt’s wedding 😞 I real adore your channel BTW!!!
I am so here for the vintage hauls and outings. Vinyl and book hauls are everything. Kudos for the comments to not minimize your individual traditions ❤ Your manner are showing is a good find. More please
Omg I'm packing my house because we just bought or first home! But I have found so many vintage goodies whilst packing, I can not wait to start decorating my vintage 1956 (which happens to be the year my mother was born!)😅mobile home! I am going to try and salvage all the vintage stuff that goes with it!
Wow, lucky you! Congratulations! 1950s is my favorite decade for fashion and interior. I used to have a 50s stereo cabinet that was awesome, but eventually died beyond my Radio Shack skills to fix. Have fun! ❤️
Before you over-dye the fabric with the red daisies try rewashing with several Color Catchers (along with detergent) to see if that pulls the red out. If not, well pink and red do look nice together as well as orange and red. Looks like you got a lot of cool vintage items. My favorite was the three pics of the children playing dress up.
Love love vintage style I like the painting and time magazine and della Reese is amazing singer and Harry Belafonte too I like the fabrics style thanks for sharing ❤😊
Love your haul! The beauty of shopping in a different region other than your own is that you can find different items to buy and collect. Thanks for sharing! 👏♥😎
I love your haul and the way you’ve decorated your home. Have you carried it over to the bathrooms? While house hunting wirth a friend, we saw a gorgeous bathroom with a tub/shower combo I’ve never encountered. Imagine an old, narrow shower only drop the floor to a shallow bath level. All the original fixtures, tiles, and porcelain were still there. I wish I’d taken photos of the entire house.
Very interesting seeing what you got! ❤ the music choices! I hear those colour catchers are good to use if colours bleed. And being in my 60s we always referred to him as Sammy Davis Junior ( Jr) 😉 Della Reece i remember her on the Mike Douglas talk show. She seemed an awesome kind lady and had nothing but good things to say about our ( London, Ontario,Can) hospital when she came for a serious treatment.
A thought? Having a weekend get to get her for all Dressmakers to wear their decade of fashions they made to visit hostes town to go fabric shopping and antique shopping for a 3 day meetup.
Interesting and charming finds! Vintage shops are a delight to visit! I get so excited but the hard part is to choose between everything you want to get 😅
❤ your videos are perfection! Your historical awareness is aspirational! You are leading the way with your cultural appreciation! ❤❤The Life mags are just awesome! Harry Belafonte is the GOAT! I'm just dying for the day that I find the vinyl with he and Miriam Makeba ❤
Great haul video. I love those pictures of the kids playing dress up. 😍 I’m sure it’s such a great feeling to get vintage items displaying people that look like you. We existed back then too and I love getting to see “us” depicted just enjoying life☺️. Yes to more haul videos please!
Terrific finds! My middle class side of the family would have had Jet Ebony , and various Time Magazines (but keeping the black celebrity covers)....and yeah! They would have bought a Marilyn Time magazine too! And the Moon Landing issue.
I like some etiquette from vintage or antique books, but just as you said, it's cultural! Some things implemented, but not all that in my Hispanic household!
I adore those actors/entertainer's i grew up seeing people for their souls not their color and ive always enjoyed culture and color as a variety of beauties
Even if you could tell the scribbles - the daughter did that to Mommy's magazine, and so now Mommy has wrested it free, and is taking a break w/ it - cue your motel photo shoot ;>

Very true.
Nothing beats a fitted outfit! Made for your body, it is a look every day!

I have a pretty hefty collection of 60’s and 70’s home decor books. I can sit and flip through them for hours. We should compare titles!
😍😍😍 I love 70’s decor it’s my fav
