My beloved husband and I were married for 52 years before he was transported to heaven.
Our marriage was abundantly blessed because right from the beginning we decided to invite the Holy Spirit to be the third person in our marriage. All glory to our Heavenly Father. 🙏

I was married to a very abusive psychopathic husband who tried multiple times to kill me, my mother and my child multiple times. He was found to have severe mental illness. The law advised me I had to leave him or we would all die. I had to leave him to save my life and my families life. I don’t think God wanted me to stay in that situation. I later found a wonderful husband who also came from a very abusive situation where his ex wife would beat him daily and would torment him emotionally, mentally and physically. He turned out to be the love of my life. A wonderful kind and very gentle soul. He just passed away from Covid and I am so heartbroken. My first abusive husband has passed away as well. I am now a widow 😭

Can I get a divorce if my spouse commits adultery? Never!
Can I get a divorce if my spouse is abusive to me? No!
Can I get a divorce if I no longer love my spouse? Absolutely not!
Can I get a divorce if my spouse has abandoned me? No, you can't!
So, under what circumstances can I get a divorce? Absolutely none. The Bible is absolutely clear: only death can dissolve a marriage in God's sight. Our only option is to separate from our spouse and stay single. If things get better between our spouse and us, we can get back together (1 Corinthians 7:10-11, Bible).
But what about the exception in Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:1-9? There is no exception in Matthew’s gospel: Once you are married, you are married for life.
No one in the Bible ever got a divorce for adultery or fornication. There was no need for divorce because those found guilty were stoned to death. All divorces were for reasons other than adultery or fornication.
Once married, always married until death do us part, with no exceptions. This applies to all human beings, regardless of whether you are a sinner or a saint.
If I am already divorced and remarried, how do I repent? What should I do to make it right in God's sight? The options for repentance in this situation include leaving your current partner and reconciling with your original partner if possible. If reconciliation with your original partner is impossible, you should remain single. You have a difficult decision to make-you can either continue to live with your current partner for the rest of this life or choose to live with Jesus for all eternity, but you can't do both.

I made a huge mistake when I was 19. I was manipulated by an older woman who was a professional con artist. After she got pregnant, I stayed in a horribly unhappy marriage for ten years. She eventually left me and took the kids. The moment she left, a huge black cloud left with her. I decided to file for divorce. I eventually married a beautiful lady who cannot be bettered; we’ve been together 20 years. The Lord told me years after I divorced the first wife, that she wasn’t truly saved; we were unequally yoked. That explains a lot that happened. I honestly believe He put it in her heart to leave me so I had a fighting chance at a proper life.
Looking backwards, I realize she was likely cheating on me at various times as well.

If your first marriage was to a woman who had never been married, then she is your covenant wife. If after you divorced her and married another woman and your covenant wife is still alive, then you are in adultery. “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery (Mark 10:11-12 NKJV).” “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery (Luke 16:18 NKJV.)”
Anyone who does not repent and forsake an adulterous marriage will go to hell. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor ADULTERERS, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV).” “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: ADULTERY, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21)." Please believe the Bible. Your eternal life depends on it.

@Janet HickeyMark 10:11-12 and Luke 16:18, which also discuss what Jesus said about divorce and remarriage, do not have the clause "except for fornication." These two books were written to a Gentile audience. Because the book of Matthew is written to a Jewish audience, and does contain the clause, "except for fornication", you need to study the Jewish marriage customs during that time to understand why this clause is included.
You will find that the Jews recognized two types of husbands and wives. They had a married husband and a married wife and a betrothed (or espoused) husband and a betrothed (or espoused) wife. A betrothed couple is similar to a couple that we say are engaged to be married. However, a betrothal was a legally binding "engagement to be married". It could only be broken if the betrothed wife committed fornication (sexual relations outside of marriage) with another man. She was to remain a virgin until her marriage to her betrothed husband. If she was found to have committed fornication, her betrothed husband could break the betrothal only through a divorce. This means that the Jewish culture had two types of divorce, one from a betrothal and one from a marriage.
You can verify this in the Bible in Matthew 1:18-25 where Joseph was referred to as Mary's husband and Mary was referred to as Joseph's wife when they were only betrothed and not married. In these scriptures, Joseph was thinking about divorcing Mary because he thought she had committed fornication when he found out that she was pregnant with Jesus. So, the "except for fornication" clause in Matthew 19:9 meant that Jesus was only allowing a divorce from a betrothal and not a divorce from a marriage.
Jesus did not have an exception clause for the Gentiles because they did not practice betrothal in their marriage customs.
When people use their own cultural norms to interpret scriptures, they can often misinterpret them. I hope this helps your understanding.

@@eruiz1180 Haven’t you read in Mark 10:11-12 and Matthew 19:9 and Luke 16:18 where Jesus said that any marriage to another that happens after the divorce is adultery. It is adultery. It is not a marriage.
Adultery will land anyone in hell if they do not repent and forsake the adultery (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and Galatians 5:19-21).
Only the death of a covenant spouse frees the surviving spouse from the marriage allowing him or her to get married again (1 Corinthians 7:39 and Romans 7:2-3).

Marriage is a covenant relationship, one man & one woman until death parts, the exception clause in Matthew is fornication, not adultery or all sexual immorality as some translations read. It is speaking about a betrothal divorce.
Only the Jews had this marriage
law. Mary & Joseph were considered husband & wife
      before the marriage was legal.
      but were only betrothed.

This is my first marriage and I am a believer. I wrestled with this topic for quite sometime and could not understand the teachings of marriage and divorce in the bible. I tried to figure it out on my own but each time I tried, I became so afraid of what the truth will turn out to be that my mind could not comprehend what was right in the sight of God as it pertains to marriage to someone who has been divorced. I want to be ready to meet the lord and I am also helping my husband along the way. Lately he seem to be very interested in learning about Christ and how to be prepared for his return. It was amazing to hear you talk about that. Thanks for praying for me prior to your preparation of this sermon and after you were finished with it.

The words “not bound” in 1 Corinthians 7:15 are actually the Greek words “ou dedoulotai” which mean “not under bondage”. The root word for “dedoulotai” is Strong’s G1402 “douloo” which means to enslave; bring under subjection. Therefore to interpret “not under bondage” in v. 15 to mean that one can remarry would contradict the command that God had given in 1 Corinthians 7:11 which says that a wife must remain unmarried or reconcile with her husband if she leaves him and a husband is not to divorce his wife. The interpretation of “not under bondage” means if the unbelieving spouse leaves the believing spouse, the believing spouse is not under bondage or obligation to keep the marriage together. However, the believing spouse is not to drive the unbelieving spouse away.

But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man (Romans 7:2-3 NKJV).” “A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:39 NKJV).”

@@Dustandfuzz Did you not hear what Jesus Christ said? "he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery". There are no legal grounds to get remarried. Just because you can separate does not mean that person is no longer your spouse, in God's eyes. The word "bound" is either "deo" or "dooleo" in the Greek. One means "enslaved" and the other means "tied/joined." So you are not enslaved if your unbelieving spouse departs, that´s why you can let them depart. But you are still joined to them in God's eyes and CANNOT remarry unless you become widowed. God joins together in one flesh a man and a woman and they are tied in God's eyes until one of them dies, as per the scripture "a woman is bound by the law of her husband until death". So I don´t need to know the reason for the divorce. That´s what the Pharisees were trying to explain to Jesus and He wasn´t having it and took them back to the beginning, Genesis.

I need prayers and wisdom, I found out that my marriage is not Biblical and I have been living in adultery for over 30 years. You see I grew up in a strict Christian family and my wife was my first because I was taught that there's only one person out there for me and in time God will bring us together...that was mistake #1.
It was love at first sight, but when I found out she has been divorced my heart broke. But after talking to several pastors from different denominations they all agreed that it was okay to marry her because she was abandoned by her first husband.
So I thought I was doing everything right; we even had premarital counseling and after they listen to her story about her divorce, they agreed with her and determined that since he abandoned her she was free to remarry...Mistake #2, I should have asked for Biblical proof, because there is none.
Right after our honeymoon I realized that she was changing, the lovebombing turned into rejection, manipulation and discard. But I hanged in there through the worst and just when I was about to throw in the towel, she would love bomb again riling me back in. So to make the story short, somehow we had 3 children and then she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Her psychiatrist warned me that there's also a manipulation behavior there hiding behind the bipolar, and advised me to leave because he said; "You need to take the children and leave, the stress can and will kill you, your children need a father not a hero, and this behavior can be passed on to the children!'' ...mistake #3, I didn't listen, I said that my faith doesn't permits divorce, and my God can and will heal any illness.
But the healing didn't happen, it got worse and over the years I ended up I the emergency room several times with severe chest pains...and the doctors said that it was stress related.
But I still didn't give up, I kept praying, and as the years went on I realized that my youngest daughter was developing similar narcissistic behaviors. Then I ran into a friend who knew her ex very well and what he said stunned me. I further investigated it and realized that the real reason her ex left her was obvious... he didn't leave, he was forced out of marriage by her behavior. So we went to Christian counseling and I confronted her, but she denied it and was able to get the consoler on her side. Looking back at my life I realized that I have been tricked to live in adultery for over 30 years and that is the reason my prayers were not answered... What do I do now, how do I fix this? I can't continue like this, now that I know, I don't want to go to hell...

First, are you under the blood of Christ. Have you asked forgiveness for any error you made? Then why are you accusing yourself of adultry? Don’t you believe that he died for our sins. Are these pastors suggesting that men and women who made mistakes early on can fix that by divorcing their current wives, husbands and children. So we fix divorce by divorcing.
What really bothers me is that this pastor is ignoring the laws of Israel at the time. My husband (now dead) was transvestite. While dressed as a woman, he raped my 9 year old daughter. At the time of Jesus, he would have been taken outside the gates and stoned. That would have left the innocent party (me..I did not know about his perversion before marriage) free. But according to this man’s teaching, even though it would not have been that way in Jesus’s day, I would have to live alone the rest of my life. I guess since he raped my daughter you could say he was unfaithful. I have also read scholars who said that spousal abuse was a cause for divorce being granted in Israel, even to women. I’ll bet you abandonment was covered also under Jewish law because dowries were given. It is hard to believe that one sentence could possibly cover the whole complicated matter of marriage and divorce.

You are admiring false teaching regarding divorce and remarriage. Read the following scriptures:
“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery (Mark 10:11-12 NKJV).”
“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery (Luke 16:18 NKJV.)”
“For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man (Romans 7:2-3 NKJV).”
A person can only remarry if the covenant spouse is dead. If you divorce and remarry while your covenant spouse is still alive, you are committing adultery.
Please study the Bible yourself so that you will know the truth.

If your living in a marriage where both parties, have been in and adulterous relationship, and You both have repented , Do you not believe God will forgive or can? All anyone can do is totally rely on the Grace of God, when you have confessed that sin of Adultery and ask for forgiveness , then there is nothing left to do except Trust God, and just have to leave in his hands!
Where sin abound Grace abound much more.. Marriage and Divorce is Very very serious. As the Minister says and yes God Hates Divorce, yet he hates all sin. But you have to repent is to turn away form that life style and have a change of Mind and heart about it….there is hope for the sinner and it’s only by forgiveness of sin that we can be restored Back to the right relation with God! And it’s only found in the atoning work of Christ on the Cross. Without his forgiveness there is no remission of sin! Today if you have made those mistakes or maybe your in this situation today ask God For his forgiveness and mean it and then put your faith and trust in him….and his Mercy..don’t continue to divorce and remarry. It’s Jesus’s Blood that cleanses us from all sin! Acknowledge the sin , and be sincere when repenting and depending On Christ to take care of the rest……once you have truly repented. Marriage is ordained by God, a covenant between God, Man and his wife...until death. Divorce was NEVER of God, but it was permitted to Moses under the MOsaic law due to the hardness of man's heart. People who are on their 2nd marriage finds scripture or should I say twist scripture to satisfy their flesh so they dont feel guilty of committing adultery.
Jesus clearly tells us about divorce and adultery in Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, 1Corinthians 7:10-11.

This teaching is against the Bible. To divorce and remarry is adultery.
Only death frees a person so that he can remarry.
“A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:39 NKJV).”

There are no complexities in the scriptures regarding divorce and remarriage. Jesus made is plain and simple.

Or do we all have to arrange for our ex-spouses to be accidently killed to free us to remarry? That would make no sense in the kingdom of God. Not sound teaching just like most big ministries though he is a pre-Trib rapture believer like me. Fornication is not the same word as adultery in Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19. And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for FORNICATION, and shall marry another, committeth ADULTERY: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit ADULTERY. His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
    Matthew 19:4‭-‬12 KJV
So nothing ends the one flesh covenant except for the death of the spouse. In those days the Jewish betrothal began the marriage, so divorce for fornication only applies to Jews like Joseph was going to DIVORCE Mary though she was really still a virgin- Thank you Father for sending your Son, Jesus Christ.
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; and they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth ADULTERY against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth ADULTERY.
    Mark 10:6‭-‬12 KJV (no exception)
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither FORNICATORS, nor idolaters, nor ADULTERERS, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
    1 Corinthians 6:9‭-‬10 KJV
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; ADULTERY, FORNICATION, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
    Galatians 5:19‭-‬21 KJV
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and ADULTERERS God will judge.
    Hebrews 13:4 KJV
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: that every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: that no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
    1 Thessalonians 4:3‭-‬8 KJV
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: but and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
    1 Corinthians 7:2‭, ‬10‭-‬11‭, ‬39 KJV
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth ADULTERY: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth ADULTERY.
    Luke 16:15‭-‬18 KJV
Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be DEAD, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an ADULTERESS: but if her husband be DEAD, she is free from that law; so that she is no ADULTERESS, though she be married to another man.
    Romans 7:1‭-‬3 KJV

Question . Since my second husband has passed away ( now 3 years ago) but my first husband does not want to reconcile, just remain friends ( We are not living together) and I have repented of all of this , where does this put me in eternity ?

@marshalynn2712 If you have repented of your sin, then go and sin no more- living single and holy. I just uploaded a testimony of a woman in her third marriage who has come to repentance if you want to check it out.

I was forced to divorce for unbiblical reasons even though I didn't want it! I have since remarried to a confessed Christian after18 yrs. She is remarried several times and doesn't want to divorce without taking me to the cleaners financially! She was taught thru the Baptist church that she is forgiven and is not committing adultery. What should I do because I know I am not right with God!

Could you please do a study on woman being silient in the church. I know it's because of what Eve done in the garden. Thanks

@Arbogast454. Eve sinned in the Garden. So did Adam. Ezekial 18 :4. “Behold all souls are mine. As the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul that sins, it shall die.” It is also in Jeremiah. He says, quite clearly, he does not punish children for the sins of their parents. How then are women punished for the sin of Eve? This is a doctrine made by men, not God. Nowhere in Gen 3 are children of Eve mentioned. Men believed this false doctrine because their society subjugated women. Then Moses wrote about the Garden of Eden and men jumped to a Scriptural interpretation that would justify it.
Later, through two prophets, God corrected them. They did not listen, nor do they listen today. And it wasn’t just the Jews, the Greeks were worse to women. Aristotle published that women were “misbegotten”, something went wrong during conception, perhaps too much moisture in the south wind. These are the people Paul was converting. And Greek philosophers infiltrated the early church bringing their pagan vanity with them. I do not know what Paul himself thought of women though in many places he clearly worked with and admired them. But Corinth was Greek. 2Cor6:3 “ giving no offense in anything, that the ministry be not blamed.”. Some pastors try to explain that this church was out of line, people misbehaving during service. Others, like John MCArthur, actually think women are second rate citizens who have nothing worth saying. I think that Paul was not a social justice warrior. He believed Jesus would be back soon. The most important thing for him was to get the word out. He sent a run away slave back to face crucifixion. And he silenced women. And all of this in the cause of getting the word out because he didn’t think it would be for long.
One Timothy chapter 2 starting in verse nine and ending in verse 15 is without excuse. I have heard so many people try to explain it away, but it’s beyond that. First he addresses how women are clothed. He never addresses how men are clothed, and men also among the Gentiles wore costly clothing and jewelry. Then there is that silent thing again and subjugation. Finally you get to verse 13 and here you find something that is not anywhere else in scripture. He is trying to justify God subjugating women….“For Adam was first formed, then Eve “. No where in the whole Bible does anybody try to justify what God does. God is the creator he has the right to do whatever he chooses but here is justification of subjugating women because they were created after Adam. This really makes me question whether Paul wrote this. Paul was a great debater… I find it hard to believe he would fall into this trap. In the beginning there were rocks and water, then came fish, birds, reptiles, mammals then Adam, then Eve. Adam being formed first is not a plus, it puts Eve in the position of supremacy. I just can’t believe the apostle Paul would write that.
Then in verse 14 he goes on to say that Adam was not deceived but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. I’ve raised three children. A child who is disobedient because they are deceived is not nearly as bad as the child who knows exactly what they’re doing and doesn’t care enough about the parent to behave. Again we have a verse that’s supposed to make us look at Adam as supreme but which clearly shows that what he did was worse than what Eve did.
Then comes verse 15 “not with standing she shall be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. “This agrees with no scripture at all. I have seen so many people try to make this OK but it is not OK. We are saved men and women by the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. By grace through faith we are saved. Nobody is saved by childbearing if they continue in essentially what is good works. Nobody is saved by good works. I have seen pastors try and say this really applies to the Virgin Mary. That’s a stretch. It’s a stretch applying it to any human being. Women are saved by grace through faith in our Lord. How these verses got into scripture is a question to me. Perhaps some scribe back 2000 years ago was trying to help Saint Paul out by clarifying what he thought he meant. We have seen Wescott and Hort change the words in scripture in the 1800s. It happens. We have seen it happen. There is no sense sticking our head in the sand and saying it can’t happen. The fact is, it does.
I would also like to see this pastor explain the “silence” of women, how the punishment of Eve is passed down to 1/2 of her children when God says he doesn’t do that. And what 1 Tim chapter 2 doesn’t agree with the rest of Scripture. And just for fun, why a run away slave was sent back to face crucifixion with nothing but a letter.
