That’s a good idea. I’m sure some folks would lament the thematics of characters ‘forgetting’ spells and proficiencies, but it seems like it would be worth the added drama for the college choice. And people do become less proficient in skills when they don’t practice them.
Nice video! I am in the middle of reading this book, and I think it's an excellent setting with lovely student NPCs. I am also a fan of the relationship rules. However, the adventure itself is a bit sparse, and will require significant beefing up by the DM. I might straight up replace the first year story. It is also clearly meant to be played with lots of slice of life school drama in between, as you mentioned. I am planning to run this, but will need to take a fair bit of time to prepare.
Heavy spoilers: But still very important! .... .... .... .... Okay... Please DON'T play all Spellcasters if you play this adventure as written! There is an encounter that WILL TPK your party if you don't have someone who can tank and/or redirect large amount of damage.
I think the encounter is in the Second year? It comes out of nowhere, and I highly recommend DMs rebalance this encounter, because it's WAY too dangerous for the CR given.
@@strangeassembly5595 I read it, and was like this seems kinda tough. And then I've only seen one person reviewing the book actually even acknowledge it, and he pointed out just how deadly the encounter actually is. (I wish I could remember who it was so I could recommend his review)
I've seen a bunch of reviews of this book and you gave the most complete and comprehensive one. Great job !
Glad you found it helpful!
Just let them switch background at the end of the year if they go into a different college.

It isn't a setting if they haven't detailed half the colleges. It's an adventure book where the DM has to do a lot of work.

Thanks for the advice!
