Thank you so much for this! I have a notion template setup for this with formulas that calculate all the stats automatically so entering the data is effortless. Now I don't have to pay for tradingview 😁
Thanks. I use the same method. Only issue I have is that if you are analysing a chart and then go to the higher timeframe, like 1hr-4hr, it ends up revealing the next bars. Hopefully they'll eventually include a feature that allows the user to prevent the chart from showing future candles on all timeframes and manually reveal the subsequent bars on a specific command.
Backtesting is typically a long process. I think the spreadsheet would be better if it's demonstrated as a graphic content. I'm still learning how to do that btw.
Yes, that's why it's important to get something like NakedMarkets to speed up the backtesting process: ruclips.net/video/AdhATifFlvQ/видео.html Using a spreadsheet is free, but it takes FOREVER.
The big issue for this sort of testing is that at any point in time (except for the current time) you have all the future loaded and visible too. That will lead to many incorrect a priori trades. You need future bars to be able to be loaded manually sequentially with them not all visible....
That's why you scroll back on the chart, then move forward one candle at a time. It's not as good a solution as Forex Tester obviously, but this method is free.
@@TradingHeroes one more thing sir. I already have an account of MT5 and I got my 30$ bunos .. can I trade this 30$ ? Because I try it says not enough money .. I did use 0.01 lots for currency pairs .. please help
How do you get the data onto the chart after you have downloaded it? All i get is the whole current chart and these instructions don't seem to work. I wonder if some brokers do not allow you to do this.....
Once you download the data it's already available. You have to scroll back to see the older data. You might also have to increase the max bars on your chart: help.darwinex.com/mt4-mt5-more-candles-and-bars
Ah, OK. In order for you to get more historical data, you have to manually download the data. If you're OK with the amount of data that automatically gets loaded with the chart, then you don't have to do the manual download.
Hi I opened a live account there is 2600 USD in my account the person who helped me open the account (Customer service) wont let me withdraw money. How can I do withdraw without her ? Help please
Close is the price at the time the candle closes. This will depend on which timeframe chart you are using. The take profit is the price that you set your take profit at, like a stop loss. Price can hit the take profit before the candle closes.
Why with the "calculation pips" flag we get 10 times less pips than when the symbol has jpy? By doing this the balance becomes different between pairs without jpy and pairs who have jpy 😵 Backtest example with 10k initial deposit between EURUSD and GBPJPY If both get 1457 pips we have a balance of 11457 for EURUSD while 10145.7 for GBPJPY. It would appear that GBPJPY has a performance = 4.57% against EURUSD = 14.57% If the backtest is read alone the other parameters are ok because they all have the same pips (ex. profit factor, average profit, etc…) only the balance is wrong but if we do a multicurrencies backtest we have the problem again! Clear hope 😂😅
@@TradingHeroes you don’t understand what I said. Try backtest “pips” and will note the difference. Now I’m trying to x 10 when there is jpy so if I get 23 pips terminal will print simply 23 (like others pairs) and not 2.3 🤦♂️
@@TradingHeroes I cannot. If I flag “pips calculation” it has always size = 0.01 therefore 7 pips gain are printed 0.77 🤔 while the others print simply 7!!
Riding in low gear all the way; after walking through this i don't think i understand what your doing. this parks the narrative often to promote stuff only to rejoin and huh??

i remember that exists some addon for mt that can fix that and make backtest with multiple timeframes, but i do not remember the name of addon
Is there any way of doing it so the future isnt available until each candle is requested? What's the point of downloading data when its already there?

HELLO SIR I'm a new subscriber can you please pleas please post the sheet u used to track your trades in this video
how are you calculating the profit/loss in $. ive been trying to figure out the formula and its driving me nuts!

i cant change my timeframe, i saved the 1HR timeframe and when i load it, i cant change it to other timeframe
If you're doing manual backtesting, like I demonstrated in the video, then just change timeframe after you load the chart.
Helpful video.. one question sir do you recommend mt5 for trading stocks? Or only currencies? Thanks
Glad it helped. It depends what you like best. Try a few different platforms and see what works for you.

What happens right after 1:38? How do you load the data to see it in a chart and start backtesting? Basic question, I know. Thank you.
Once you download the data, it't on the chart. Scroll back on the chart to see it. You can also see in the data window pictured in the video.

what are the exact steps you do after making the request in order to import the data into a chart ?
www.tradingheroes.com/download-mt4-historical-data/
hello thank you keep it up! i see your using white background now... would you agree its better for the eyes? or are you still using black?
I use black to trade, but white is easier to see in demonstration videos.
1:41 You lost me here I think you skipped something. How do we put the data we just requested on the chart to start testing from it?
It's already there.
Are you stuck just on that one time frame that you pick?
You can only test 1 time period at a time. The timeframe can be switched after the test is done.

Hi how can i get to set up charts after requesting data?
Why is your take profit column empty?
Because there were no take profits on those trades.
Whats the difference between this and the strategy tester?
This is manual backtesting. The Strategy Tester is automated.
0:30 the data downloaded from MT5 are those of the broker and not those of MetaQuotes such as MT4 (very bad)..?? 🤦
great video
Glad it was useful.
Your procedure (downloading bars by request) is as opening a chart and wait that bars appear?
I don't understand your question, please rephrase. Thanks.
@@TradingHeroes usually, to load the bars on the chart, I open the chart itself and wait for it to appear
Ah, OK. In order for you to get more historical data, you have to manually download the data. If you're OK with the amount of data that automatically gets loaded with the chart, then you don't have to do the manual download.

JPY pairs are only quoted in 2 decimal places. You have to adjust the multiplier.

No, nothing worthwhile. It's hard to store that much backtesting data on a mobile device.
