Hey Scrap! Another youtuber called Blitz started playing Trailmakers. We'd like if you two have some videos together, like: "Noob vs pro" or "Who can make the best build" kind of videos.
That's amazing! out of curiosity, did ScrapMan correctly explain how you did your turning? And my guess is the number logic is the acceleration thing that's used for thruster-like parts?
You don't need to program the turns, you just need to program it to not hit the walls. if you it make it follow the right walls it will be fine. I was eyeing that the entire time and decided to comment when you looked at the others. I always think about this when i watch these videos especially with the space ones, programming a vehicle to turn and hit everything with precision.
The large jet engine isn't in line with the center of mass on the F1 car. This is forcing the front into the ground and the rear to be lifted slightly. This causes the front to turn in super quicky while the rear has very little grip to keep itself in line, meaning the rear kicks outward into a spin.
23:43 Yes it is, enough. It's still consistent when it's inconsistent. What you can do is use the delay feature that ever logic block has and hold down backspace so you consistently start at the same spot facing the same direction.
"Scrapman builds elongated vehicle made almost entirely for speed, that mostly lacks stability, then learns the course until he succeeds". I'm not saying that it's easy to do these races, but it's generally 'Speed Stick' and 'Glitch Racers' at the top of the boards.

Can you actually program a vehicle to do the race by it self?? Maybe thats a good video idea no? I'd love to see scrapman trying to make one of these 😁😁
15:40 i think a possible solution for the ridge may have been to have a more rounded shape at the center instead of the box the wheels are attached to, maybe a slope there instead of the corner to make it have less of a chance to clip that edge. (btw i have typed this right as i thought of it so if Scrapman did end up doing it then my bad) edit: visual example, imagine the vehicle longways, [___] (box shape) => \___/ (slopes on the corners) Looking at the vehicle from dead on or longways would make it still look like a rectangle however from the side the slopes would be visible. I also do realize this might affect the aerodynamics of the build. I do like the much simpler move of making the wheels jut out more.
I think the sensor on #3 was to always keep engines on low power so that if the engine is off it doesn't have to build up speed again, otherwise, I think Scrapman could have added logic to turning to just have a less than full power turn for the light turns.
I'm watching Ulysses 31 again and then my intrusive thoughts kick in and say that I would suggest scrapman to do the odysseyus in Trailmaker space ^^ Love your video like always ^^
There’s a lot more skill requirements for this race so if you can build a decent vehicle you can get pretty high on the leaderboard off of just skill. I was able to get to 35th place in the jet league off of just wheel power. No rockets or jet engines.
Watching this vid made me remember the first time I ran into nurb. in a racing game . Trying to remember every turn and every bump that would send you flying off track .
For the Fins for controlability you can slow down the speed of the fins, so you can still go sharp, but at I speed you can juste tap the input for more precise input
this made me think of when i used to play a lot of gran turismo!! i bet a lot of high ranking folks had relatively low speed builds so as to not sacrifice control. interesting stuff
Here is a suggestion that I normally use for these, add a logic block that goes to your steering but have the output power set to 0.5 so you have an even finer control available, then its a case of learning which corners need which keys to turn them perfectly.
I got Trailmakers FIRST on the Playstation4 and wanted more controls, so I got it on the computer, but now I use a controller on the computer when playing vehicle games because steering (and engine controls) is way better when it's not all or nothing. Zeepkist does steering really well, having gradual changes.

I think it could be fun to have a multiplayer challenge on this course build the best vehicle you can in Formula league, no glitches, must have at least 4 wheels on the ground, and at least half of your powercores have to be engines (basically to encourage more car-like designs)
having a lot of people racing on this course would be fun scrapman should bring back some of the old crew and just have everyone on the course at the same time
The first place guy might be doing something similar to trackmania action keys. The number of steering gyros would be explained by him having different steering modes for different turns, optimized to turn at the perfect rate to maintain as much speed as possible through the turns
