This week I was excited to get to ride the all new Kawasaki Z900RS. With styling lifted straight from the established classic that is the 1973 Z1 this bike has been high on my list of must rides since it was announced.

I owned Z1000 back in the day, absolutely loved it a bit hairy going into corners. But in my opinion, Z9 and Z1000 what are the best looking bikes ever! I don’t own it anymore, but ever since they brought this out, I keep looking at it I’m thinking should I. They did try with a zephyr years ago but this is the dogs.
I had a 1978 Z1R and a 1980 KZ1000 with a 1075 kit, cams, valve-job, and carbs. That's sort of the way this bike looks. Very nice retro.
I have over 15,000 miles on mine.

Why is it that NO ONE ever points out how INSANELY COMFORTABLE that bike is? I swear it's more comfortable than sitting on my couch!
The BEST winter motorcycle hands down is a Moto Guzzi. Those two big cylinders sitting out in front of your legs blocking in the cold and throwing a ton of heat on you is great for winter. Not so good for summer in California when it's 110F out but winter.. No problem.

This bike looks to be a real kick in the knickers. But, the chain is a pain. Wot do you think about Kawi going with belt drive?
I had a test ride on one last Saturday in Melbourne, Australia and we’ve certainly got the beautiful summer weather for it at the moment. The original orange and brown (what we call the Jaffa color) is going to be the one to have, and that’s what I rode. Still haven’t quite made my mind up yet. There’s only a handful in showrooms but if we’re quick we can grab one right now.
Hey gm, Thanks for the message... The Orange/Brown is the big seller here too. Orders today will be waiting until June for bikes now. Great uptake on this model.

Great review, I wouldn't buy this bike in the UK with those road conditions, I would buy an offroad bike. luckily I live in France & I'm buying the Z900Rs.

How is the gearbox?
I found the gear box to work really well. You definitely feel the advantage of how the ratios are set and shifting between gears is slick.
The z900 is a real bike . Its what a What a bike should look like. Retro bikes is like the debate in sexes. Retro bikes you know what's between your legs... Modern bikes you don't know what your mounting.
All my bikes have been classic naked road bikes. A lot of modern machinery these days look like insects.

As far as stand still looks..rear fender to far off wheel...radiator sticks out to far on sides...the original was cleaner..sounds like it runs better...
