I loved Inspector Gadget as a kid, though I always wished he wasn't quite so utterly clueless. Partly thanks to my fondness for that cartoon, I later got into watching Don Adams in reruns of Get Smart. Compared to Gadget, Maxwell Smart almost seemed like a genius at his job.
This series was aired on Nickelodeon, local syndication, Family Channel and CBS in the 90's because I do know watching this on Saturday mornings/early afternoons on CBS as reruns the same with Nickelodeon, local syndication, and Family Channel. But I do know promos stating that that it was aired on CBS in the 1990s on Saturday mornings as part of its Saturday morning line up. It said: “Wowsers! Where can you find me and all my crazy contraptions and goofy dismals? Inspector Gadget. Today on CBS Kid TV. Where kids rule.”
Inspector Gadget also made a brief presence on CBS' Saturday Morning cartoon lineup for the 1991-1992 season, ran on Nickelodeon from 1987 through much into the 1990's and the start of the 2000's, and aired on The Family Channel/Fox Family/ABC Family in the early to mid 1990s and again in the early 2000's.
Inspector Gadget was a series that showed a lot more production polish and vitality than some of the "straight" superhero series of the 1983-84 season. Inspector Gadget was an unqualified syndicated success, as indicated by the fact that 21 new daily episodes were com- missioned after the traditional first 65. Even as the series continued its local run, rebroadcasts were licensed by the Nickelodeon cable service for 5 years, starting in 1987. Come 1991, these same episodes could be seen over the CBS network on Saturday mornings/early afternoons and still they plugged away in syndication and on cable (notably as a daily syndicated Monday through Friday strip TV show as well as the main attraction of the Family Channel's Fam TV cartoon block, and back to Nickelodeon for 4 years beginning in late 1996).
I recently discovered the original run was all “series 1”, and it was repeated on Australian public broadcaster ABC at least 10 times (I counted). The new house with upgrades was all series 2 and was only shown a couple of times or so.
The Littles came after Inspector Gadget - so the series could not have inspired that. Heathcliff came after Inspector Gadget and The Littles (and was made by the same company that made Inspector Gadget and The Littles - also listed as one of the first 3 shows produced by the company - the first 2 are Inspector Gadget and The Littles))
Dark gritty origin story by Christopher Nolan, showing the gory cyberconversion It all goes wrong, brain damaging him, and in a miscarriage of justice, his young niece legally becomes his carer and guardian. She becomes a school truant and computer hacker, with an anxiety disorder that causes her to think her pet dog can talk. But she builds him a cellular dog collar with Zoom camera anyway.
What are you talking about? They've made so many terrible "updated" versions that no one watched because they were bad (like that terrible Gadget and the Gadgetinis). 80s version is the only good iteration of the character.
@@nolanl3343 I believe that those updated versions were in the same continuity as the original series. That's what I'm talking about. "TMNT", "DCAU", "MAU" and "Masters of the Universe" made new stories which weren't connected to their previous counterparts.

Yeah, sometimes he was alittle overly dim. But very likeable nevertheless. Thank you for stopping by 🙏

And also Frank was the voice of our favorite antagonist in Transformers I am Megatron leader of the Decepticons
🙌

6 Million Dollar Man was also likely a major inspiration for the gimmick.
Yeah, I think you might be right 👍
This must be true. That was a show that kids loved to bits.
That card makes no sense since we see his ancestors with the last name gadget in the show across a lot of episodes.
Yep! Huge contradiction!

Loved inspector Gadget, thanks for the nostalgia trip 👍
Glad to hear I am not the only one who remembers and loves this character 👍
Appreciate you stopping by 🙏
Loved Gadget. Drew him for Pete's art attack recently... Always struck me as an Inspector Clouseau rip. Which I also loved TBF!
He is such a Great Character. They should definitely bring him back for the current Generation.
Inspector Gadget looks a lot like Don Adams.

A solid cartoon with a great soundtrack! Loved it!
Oh yes! The Soundtrack was Ace!

@@whophd I'd watch it 😅👍
Local stations, Nickelodeon, CBS, The Family Channel (Fam TV) actually reruns of the original Inspector Gadget all in the 90's.
Amazing! I would love to see them again.
Inspector Gadget was voiced by Don Adams from Get Smart
A favorite as a kid.
Mine too. I wonder if he could ever make a comeback? 🤔
I wouldn't mind a new show, perhaps in a similar vein to Netflix's Carmen Sandiego.
Would be great to see 👍
What would be The Foundation Element For Inspector Gadget also would The shows villains Join Lord Vortech in LEGO Dimensions
I think that they should bring back the character, but make a new universe.
Gadget is before robocop.
I always connected Inspector Gadget and Maxwell Smart together. It was the voice, and their bumbling nature.
Yes, so the mixture of inspirations was:
- Clouseau
- Robocop
- Get Smart
- $6m Man
What happened to him? According to splatkid productions, he was killed by a shotgun
Edit: the qubos screen of death is fake btw
It's too bad that they don't make a new universe of Inspector Gadget. Please stop continuing the 1982 or 1983 series.
