See that point that "easy" that why box is better you won't be good be when do you better than most field players because it harder and when go at hard you usually good at sport you doing
T-Mac plus they like to “have more space” while also playing against a smaller goalie in a bigger net, sounds to me like they like taking the easy route
Personally Box is the better version of the game. It's faster, more physical and requires more skill. It is also the better version of the game to grow the game because it's easier for someone who has never watched lax to figure out since it's similar to hockey. Box is also way more exciting to watch.
Scott Mccaig sorry bud but no , that is one of the most silly and ignorant statements I have ever heard. Box takes better stick skills and requires you to think faster. There is tons of strategies involved that are very different from field. The pick and roll game, the shooting, the strong side cycle and no room to dodge makes box unique and difficult for field players to adapt too. Even the endurance required to play Box is different because there is nothing quite like the grind of a box game. I've played both for a while and I don't like to play field anymore because it's too slow and boring.
My experience with Box is at the youth level where there is a large difference in size and physicality at the same ages. I see players that I know have better stick skills (because I coach them in field) struggle to make an impact in the box game due to their smaller size. I enjoy both, but would much rather watch field.
Scott Mccaig That's fair and I respect that opinion. I also coach and the issue I find is that kids who start playing field and then covert to box struggle because they don't understand how to play the game because it's very different. I also coach field and find the same issue of larger and better athletes dominating at a younger age because of their size and strength. However, that discrepancy is what teaches smaller players to find ways to play to their strengths
good points. The kids I was talking about played field for a long time and have recently moved to box, so you may be correct. Just takes time to adjust to the movement etc
Only box, I love the atmosphere, pre game pump ups, and quick sprints. Unfortunately I can only play box once or twice a year since I don't have it in my country. But man do I love to play it 💪
Started with field too, but once I got into box I was hooked. I used to say, and still do, that "once you go box, you never go back." Although I now realize this may not be true for everyone.
As someone that has played both (Box growing up on teams, and field in High school and college), I prefer playing box lacrosse. Super long shot clock BS in field, the shorter shot clocks in box make it a lot faster paced, tougher, and more physical (cross checks). Box is also a lot more challenging to score due to the smaller net and more equipped goalies, so you actually have to fake shots to juke the goalie and precisely aim your shots. Whereas in field its just "throw the ball as hard as you can at the net". I also had way more fun playing box than I did playing field.
Personally I have been playing box for 10 years now (I’m 17 today) and my school just made a field team from which 90% of the players play high level box lacrosse and we beat USA academays and eventually won provincials. from my experience box players see the game a lot better we would cut and no one picks you up it’s almost like the defenders are shocked if you set picks or take screen shots like you do in box

The picks in box are ridiculous compared to outdoor as the illegal pick is a matter of opinion in box. As far as goaltending goes, box is more fun for me. Far less physical damage taken playing box.

They both have pros and cons. Your regular field player is most likely more athletic and can play easily with both hands, can deal with the sun, etc. Your box player has 10x better stick skills with the dominant hand, cuts better, handles contact and tight spaces faster/better, has better overall lacrosse IQ. Most box kids make great attackmen in field while kids who grew up playing field are generally superior middies and poles, etc. To be the best overall LACROSSE player, you should play both
Box lacrosse is hands down the most skilled, physical, and exciting game in the world to watch. There’s a reason Canadian players dominate the lacrosse and hockey world. We are built differently. 3x for sure if there was only one to play. But box is great for practice, but if I wanted to watch hockey I’d watch hockey. Field is just such a great sport all around. The game is much more open, you can see so many more different styles be successful, there’s a larger transition and substitution game within the game, and speed gets a bigger role. Plus there’s nothing better than playing outside in spring
Yes the speed is there in field, but there’s a lot more of it In box. Faster passes, shots, dodges, and overall movement Don’t forget you don’t exactly get the chance to get a break away in field. You need fast hands and feet and have the ability to shoot accurately with a larger goalie with a much smaller net. In my opinion accuracy, speed, and movement is more important in box, while in field split dodges, deception and getting close to the goal is more important. Each element is important in both, some are just more important than one in field and or box. All things considered if you have all of these elements when you play you’re going to be unstoppable in either field or box.(I am a little biased, I play box and live for the aggressive nature of it) so take what I say with a grain of salt... Also it’s not hockey, from what’s on the ground to how it’s played it’s not hockey.
Kevin Conners You’re just arguing about skill, which I don’t deny that there’s a lot more needed in box. I’m talking about the way the game is played. Field is so much different than any other sport and it’s got so many different approaches to strategy. But ya I do wish people could fight a little more in field
box is better in all aspects for both players and fans I have played both and enjoy playing both (defensive transition in box and straight midfield in field)
Neither game is better than the other. Box promotes stick skills, quick decision making and toughness. Field on the other hand is so athletic. Field players generally are much better outside shooters and are equally as dangerous as box players because of being able to shoot and catch with both hands. There is no debate...to improve, a player should play both.
Box ... both are great, but in box 1) the ball never goes out of bounds. 2) you don't have one third of the players allowed on the field but not allowed to touch the ball at any one time (the offsides rule in field) 3) everybody has to know how to play both O and D, even at upper levels when they specialize more. 4) no long sticks - on D you have to out-muscle, out-think or out-athlete your opponent - you can't just poke from 6' away. The best thing about field to me is just being outside. But we found an outdoor, turfed rink for box, so it's the best of both worlds in my opinion.
Greg J Sargent what kind of box do you play that the ball never goes out of bounds? In my games we probably have 5 balls go over the glass and the netting sucks at every arena so it ends up falling down on the other side of the glass
I don't like box because the goalies don't do anything. No coast to coast, no saves with the stick, no movement. Just like one of those things that people put on their goals to train kids to shoot to certain areas.
Chanula Liyanage that’s weak bro. In box if you get by a guy in tight spaces and slides being so much closer and react faster plus scoring on a bigger goalie in a smaller net compared to a smaller goalie in a bigger net, that’s what’ll make you better. You seem to like the easy route
Here are the things I found different from field. On offense don't go to X or set up behind GLE like you might in field - always try to keep yourself in a position where you can shoot immediately if you got the ball. Get with some buddies beforehand and make plans to set picks for each other - you will be the only guys getting open! Keep your shots and passes quick, avoid an elongated windup or follow through like you have in field lax, concentrate on lots of wrist activation and more lower hand pull than you use in field. Keep your stick in tight. Your fakes should be barely more than a big cradle, nothing fancy, QUICK. In your wallball give equal time to your Canadian throws and catches (that's using your dominant hand but on the "weak" side of your body - it's faster than switching to your off hand). On D #1 work hard! Positionally, instead of staying between the ball carrier and the goal, play a little "higher" so that you stay between the ball carrier and the high slot, if that makes sense. Push ball carrier "down and out", toward the back corner of the rink. If he goes behind GLE just let him go, don't chase, he can't shoot from there. Loose balls around the boards #1 don't check anyone from behind #2 don't lower your head near the boards, you can't play if you are paralyzed #3 "dont go where it is, go where it will be " (that means play the rebound off the boards). Have fun and play hard, it's a blast. When you get back outside you will think you have all the time in the world, and - if you played box with little goals - the regulation-sized field lax goal will seem HUGE. Oh and watch box games on RUclips, there are a ton of old NLL games, international games, Senior games, etc etc.
Get ready to get hit hard, the ball doesn’t bounce the same on concrete as on a field, if you’re chasing it it alternates far to high bounce, the first bounce is true the second isn’t and usually shoots it away from you the third will then be a shorter higher bounce you get the pattern. Get really good at quick sticks and pick and rolls. Do a lot of wind sprints because you don’t jog in box, pretty much everything is a sprint. Learn the positions and their roles ie: X, shooter(left and right) and crease (left and right) watch some junior and nll games and watch the transition because the transition is where you have the chance to burn a team if their slow, if your goalie can throw the ball accurately and you’re the fastest kid on your team then as soon as the other team shoots RUN and get your goalie to hit you on the fly, the first couple times you’ll catch the other team off guard and it’ll give you a b-way. Good luck and keep your head if you want to be able to walk for the rest of your life.
Depends if you’re playing the style of offence/defence or 5 up 5 down. Keep your head up be ready to get physical. Also work on quick stick extremely useful
Box absolutely hands down. Much more physical, you have to be way tougher to play box vs field and they ve toned it down a ton vs 20 yeas agp. I m 60 but I know I could hammer these 2 preppy frat boys right now!!!
How are the warp heads. I’ve been thinking about getting one, I wanted to know if anyone has got them and how they liked them compared to a more common head and mesh?
They are different games, I prefer to watch and play box, but that doesn't take away from the strategy game of field. Someone mentioned speed is more important in field, but that is definitely not the case, box is way faster in all aspects of the game. Long Term Athlete Development is all about increasing skill by decreasing space and that is what box does, creating players that have better stick skills and quicker reactions because they don't have space to relax.
Put me in the box column... Samir, 3v3? Familiar with Chumash? 3v3, 1 double sided 1x6 goal in the center of a long, narrow crease... no keeper... Check it....
+1 chumash - that's a ton of fun and you can get a game going anytime, anywhere with just 6 guys. Awesome for teaching young players the fundies too - lots of touches, lots of ground balls, you have to have a good overhand shot to score. ruclips.net/video/zeMDidoDd9A/видео.html
Is it me or do goalies seem disadvantaged in field? No leg padding or big hand gloves to block? Yes goalies do come out of bet in field, just figured they have some more gear or something ? new to the sport and live watching both box and field, curious 🤨
Box Lacrosse is much better for "Beer Leaguers" and pickup games. Field Lacrosse is designed to allow the better prepared team to thrive (Running plays, matchups, taking advantage of clearing opportunities, winning faceoffs and possessing the ball) Neither is better than the other, they are just different. I prefer box more now as a retired former D3 O Middy, because less running to get into position and you don't get caught on offense and defense forcing you to play tired hoping to catch a shift change. Box is harder to score in unless you are playing against a top tier Defense and goalie in the field game , just my opinion. Box should be ALL offseason Field Players first priority, keep getting those reps and staying in shape, all while building on scoring creativity and your defensive positioning

Love the vids
All in all both are what it’s all about. It’s what you put into it.
box guys can play field, but field guys can’t play box
Box is 100% better
Hudson Halladay no
nope
@@naomivogtman4646 well to be honest most field player play is nll
Pretty much yes
Box absolutely hands down. Much more physical, you have to be way tougher to play box vs field and they ve toned it down a ton vs 20 yeas agp. I m 60 but I know I could hammer these 2 preppy frat boys right now!!!
Box is a faster, funner game for me to play personally. It’s more aggressive. And I’m a feisty person lmao
How are the warp heads. I’ve been thinking about getting one, I wanted to know if anyone has got them and how they liked them compared to a more common head and mesh?
I know this is from a year ago but don’t
They are different games, I prefer to watch and play box, but that doesn't take away from the strategy game of field. Someone mentioned speed is more important in field, but that is definitely not the case, box is way faster in all aspects of the game. Long Term Athlete Development is all about increasing skill by decreasing space and that is what box does, creating players that have better stick skills and quicker reactions because they don't have space to relax.
What length and type were your shafts
Box is just way more fun to watch. Look how the mll is struggling to keep the lights on and the nll is expanding 2 teams yearly.
And what about the PLL now?
@@CenturyBoyLandingbox is still far better. And I play both.
Box
Box, it’s a faster game and more physical!!!👍🏽
Box lacrosse is the beat
Who doesn’t love to hit
its also strategy. initiating contact is the only way to create space. if you don't attack your defender, you'll never get open.
box
Box is faster and the action is better.
Box > field
Box lax
I played both and I think field is way better
I think box is better but If I had to play one type I’d play 3v3 mini sticks or field
Box lax all day boys
Yesssssssssssss
Not even gonna watch the video because the answer is yes
Put me in the box column...
Samir, 3v3? Familiar with Chumash? 3v3, 1 double sided 1x6 goal in the center of a long, narrow crease... no keeper... Check it....
+1 chumash - that's a ton of fun and you can get a game going anytime, anywhere with just 6 guys. Awesome for teaching young players the fundies too - lots of touches, lots of ground balls, you have to have a good overhand shot to score. ruclips.net/video/zeMDidoDd9A/видео.html
Don’t really like box lacrosse ( hate watching NLL) but it’s better than nothing when the weather is to bad to play outside.
Box lacrosse is for certain better than field lacrosse.
Is it me or do goalies seem disadvantaged in field? No leg padding or big hand gloves to block? Yes goalies do come out of bet in field, just figured they have some more gear or something ? new to the sport and live watching both box and field, curious 🤨
American A field lacrosse teams. Get smoked by Canadian B box teams 😂. It’s not even a contest.
Box is way better then field
Box is for men. Field for women.
As a Goalie I definitely like field more idk if it’s a hot take but my opinion never less.
Box!!!
How tall are you Samir?
i had never done feild so box
We don’t have box in Florida 😪
Both have their plusses. Box makes you a better feild player.
Leave for the year then when you come back a grand entrance would be the tln app is back
B
What about for goalies, should a goalie play box to get better at field? I wouldn’t think so...
box is better to play but field is better to watch just my opinion
I love your videos your amazing
Nobody else see hoka with the ward
I can't see the White on White Goals.... how about change the ball color, and color blox the net, or give em the black hole? NO body blocks, huh/? NG.
Fun Fact as of 2023: Tehoka Nanticoke is a Buffalo Bandit
Ghits is a bad man!
Gentlemen don’t be shy give box a try... you might just enjoy yourself
Yes. It is.
Box no doubt, I would only play box.
Field cause field goalie is completely different from box and I’ve played both
Field!!! Let’s goo!
Long pole samir or colin
