This combination of GD systems with the D2 layers on top, seems to offer a super deep customization option. I would even say this might offer the superior option to a full D2 remaster, unless they opened up a ton of extras and improved the resolution to 4k/ 120fps. Thanks for the info Rhykker!
I just started this last night, Assassin is amazing under their mod. The first skill throws out a mini-Nuke, and Shock Web throws out a massive set of lightning caltrops / bombs. Charged Sentry costs way too much without potion chugging, but it still works amazingly.
You would think Blizztard would wake TF up and pay attention, wouldn't you? Hopefully (a distant, very small hope), D4 will be somehing resembling D2 in look, feel and quality, but I'm not holding my breath. Another Jay Wilson is no doubt just lurking in the Blizz hierarchy, waiting to pounce on a key decision-maker exec position, waiting to f#$K up the legacy, _sigh_ ...
Thank you for this video. Never would have known this existed... well... at least not at this time. I love having a Diablo 2 "remastered" option. And am currently loving the mod. And thank you for your work within not only the Diablo community, but the gaming community at large. Love your videos, and always look forward to the next. Keep it up! You do amazing work!
I love Grim Dawn and I have already played this mod. It is amazing just how much effort is put into this mod! Kudos! I haven't played original Diablo 2 and dated graphics and UI prevent me from getting actual copy, but it feels so nice and so smooth to play it in more modern engine such as the one Grim Dawn has. Not to mention that Grim Dawn itself can run on a potato grade PC.
Oh no. Fuck the copy, torrent it. Nothing beats the original Diablo 2, it has such a dark gothic vibe and environment. Graphics are still good for the the type of game it is.
I agree to you in totality. I don't know number of times I played original D2 but playing it again as mod in grim dawn is all together new experience. Thanks grim dawn management.
Does this also have procedurally generated dungeons like D2? Grim Dawn itself is mostly hand-crafted maps with Shattered Realms and the few Challenge dungeons being randomized.
I've been keeping an eye on (and playing on and off) since 0.2.0.0 when only the first 2 acts were available. Another thing is that they've reduced the number of floor some of the dungeons have so that you aren't forced to go through like 5 floors just to get to the quest objective.
Im glad this is finally getting some recognition from some of the bigger youtubers. But at the same time it does worry me since its more likely that the modders might get some letters from blizz.
This mod is not everyone's cup of tea. It is difficult and if you don't gear up well and keep an eye on your underleveled items, you will underperform and be slow to kill / progress. Excellent modernization of Diablo 2, some areas and content are so well reimagined that you will be amazed.
Well, I only finished Act II so far but I was quite disappointed to learn, that there's only one Tomb of Tal Rasha in the Canyon of the Magi. I love storming through all seven of them and was looking forward to clear them in RoT as well. Unfortunately that was not the case... :'(
@@manofharlech5775 I am a huge Diablo fan. I played thousands of hours in Diablo 2, i have hundreds in Grim Dawn. Running the tombs in D2 was the biggest pain in the ass for me whenever i decided to make a new character, so i can't relate lol. It's just so damn boring.
so ... when you see that you're slow to level, kill and progress just level up your items its is super easy to craft items and add them to your gear for more resists and more damage you can always buy more gear or just grind an area a few items to find better gear -- the exact same thing you'd do in D2
@@manofharlech5775 It's because such randomization is not possible in GD's engine. You will always find the Summoner in the same location in the Arcane Sanctuary.
Yoooo. This mod is fucking dope. Love Grim Dawn and I love what mods fans make and I love what the game devs do to the game. If Blizzard wasn't paired with Activision, Blizzard would love these Grim Dawn devs on their team.
I am Casual Grinder. Tried playing D3 Seasons after 10 years playing back n forth of D2 . I played POE seasons since 2016 -2019 . I Currently played BDO SEA 2018/ 2020 , i love the improvements of 2020 mmo rpg in Black desert, and the fact that getting Good Soft cap gears aint super hardcore or need brainless thousands of hours of grindings like before. Many people love the lifeskilling afk features to earn silvers, i Still prefer the old school way of grinding mobs for hours for RNG drops and money
They have stated that almost all Grim Dawn content (will need to keep respec potions and a few other things) will be removed once the game hits 1.0.0.0 in around 18 months (but will still offer a legacy version that keeps the GD content in).
In their defense, Activision Blizzard makes almost same amount of money from mobile devices like from PC which is why they want to do mobile game. But as already mentioned many times. During blizzcon they should have reveal D4 and then Diablo mobile as a bonus.
I guess I have to ask about the horadric cube. In D2 there were hidden recipes to upgrade things like gloves and boots into crazy uniques. They had this weird color to the name when you crafted them like a redish orange or something. I remember one of the recipes required white gloves, a jewel, a scroll of town portal, and something else. It absolutely was NOT a mod. It was in the base game during patch 1.12 or 1.13 back in the day. My question here for you Rhykker is did these hidden recipes make into this Grim Dawn mod? Are they in the the recipe book you showcase for runewords? I always wanted to know what all the secret recipes were, but I was never able to find any resource that mentioned these.
You are talking about the "Crafted" items, which had their blood theme, or something like it. Bright orange names, with huge potential if you were lucky. These are not in this mod, but might get added at some point, as its a drag making the random affix to make these with. Also, they won't be hidden as the hidden stuff in the horadric cube doesn't work like in diablo 2. Anything craftable would be listed either at the blacksmith crafting list or like with the runewords, just visible in the list.
I love it. Played it a few month back. Gotta play it again soon. Wanted to wait for my brother to get grim dawn so we can play together, just like d2 retail back in the days.
Thanks to letting me know of this mod, i'm a bif fan of Diablo series, and i really enjoyed Grim Dawn! So the mix of the 2, i think i will lose my social life again XD
Anyone have issues with difficulty scaling on the named mobs in this mod? I installed it and played it for about 20 minutes, roughly 15 of which I spent throwing myself against the first named mob I encountered.
You are probably playing on veteran/normal+ difficulty then. The start is a bit hard, but it gets a lot faster once you get some skill points and gear pieces.
Seems Pally would probably be necessary to run with any elemental build just for conviction..unless you felt like running around with Infinity on some merc. I wish I could play this though..this looks so amazing.

I'm probably going to check this mod out. Been playing GD a lot again, just got to Loghorrean with a new oathkeeper/shaman build. I hope we get a remake of D2, but until then or whatever this mod sounds like fun.
You do not need Diablo 2 remastered. This is the best D2 3D remastered option and I am having really good time in this game. Reached act 5 and I exit the town in order to do the 1st quest and raid of monsters just keep coming at you endlessly. I needed 40 min to be able to reach the boss at 1st quest. I loved D2 and some MODs as well like Ancestral Recall or Kingdom of Tenai and this game is Godlike D2 remake.
What bugs me is that a bow is not considered a two handed ranged weapon or ranged weapon. Alot of the skills from GD does not work with a bow and that kinda sucks. Other than that, it is a good game
Think this shows that diablo2 should be remade not remastered. we dont want a starcraft remastered which just gave us a 4k version of a clunky ass game when were used to the fluid gameplay of sc2. For example if blizzard ever remasters diablo2 and i need to physically click on gold to pick it up..... no thanks im so over that

thapsico26 haven’t played Grim Dawn, but heard very good things about it
@@SkylarTrahan If you liked Diablo or Diablo 2 even a little bit, you owe yourself to try Grim Dawn.
This combination of GD systems with the D2 layers on top, seems to offer a super deep customization option. I would even say this might offer the superior option to a full D2 remaster, unless they opened up a ton of extras and improved the resolution to 4k/ 120fps. Thanks for the info Rhykker!
After testing the beta D2R I totally agree with you.
I just started this last night, Assassin is amazing under their mod. The first skill throws out a mini-Nuke, and Shock Web throws out a massive set of lightning caltrops / bombs. Charged Sentry costs way too much without potion chugging, but it still works amazingly.
Rhykker you have sold me!!! Trying today!!!
Between this and Path of Diablo, people seem to be looking for any way they can find to play a modernized Diablo 2.
Joe Champagne And yet, so many ppl still play D2
@rick melethron rick A lot of people too. But far outmatched in numbers by bots, definitely.
@rick melethron rick check out d2jsp
BOTS aren't allowed on path of diablo. Fuck vanilla at this point I love pod. And am very excited for the project diablo 2 mod coming out soon
The best part of all of this, is they don't even ask for donations but rather you push the community.
Absolute legends.
I have a few rhykker videos to catch up on, this one was included. In for a good time
Cross-over game. Grim Dawn meets Diablo actually makes sense.
Good vid Rhykker.
Thanks for sharing this! Still working through the expansions of Grim Dawn, but now that I know this exists I’ll switch over once I beat the game.
I've been playing this mod for a while now. It's amazing!! Played D2 for like 6 years, i'm really happy with this mod!
This mod is incredible ! Anyone who liked D2 will love this
no
This mod is FANTASTIC!!! 100 times better then D3! Combining 2 classes was my dream since original D2. Must play for all diablo fans!
RoT kicks ass, i love how you can create hybrid characters, very cool
Grim Dawn is a gem. And the modding community is very active.
Had this mod for several months now. It's so sick.
WOW. Ill be getting this TODAY. This is amazing.
As an old D2 player so far. This looks awesome. Blizzard should take some look at it. Thanks Rhykker
BTW Rhykker, you forgot to mention the best part of the Devotion tree in Grim Dawn: It lets you add procs to a lot of skills.
People that makes this. Thank you so much! ❤
I am so excited for this. I played diablo 2 for like 15 years.
Hi.I am D2 Fanatic and I have to Thank You for this.Damn dude!
Im glad this is finally getting some recognition from some of the bigger youtubers. But at the same time it does worry me since its more likely that the modders might get some letters from blizz.
How abotu the appearance of the cahracters? The sorc-pal looks more like a grim dawn char than a D II char???
It's just so damn boring.
so ... when you see that you're slow to level, kill and progress just level up your items
its is super easy to craft items and add them to your gear for more resists and more damage
you can always buy more gear
or just grind an area a few items to find better gear -- the exact same thing you'd do in D2
@@firstname4337 That's true and that's exactly why D2 is not everyone's cup of tea :)
@@manofharlech5775 It's because such randomization is not possible in GD's engine. You will always find the Summoner in the same location in the Arcane Sanctuary.
3:15 - "Then I've got Holy SHIT" ))
Yoooo. This mod is fucking dope. Love Grim Dawn and I love what mods fans make and I love what the game devs do to the game. If Blizzard wasn't paired with Activision, Blizzard would love these Grim Dawn devs on their team.
This thing is unbelievably incredible. Had to buy the GD expansions but totally worth it. The guys that made this must be DEDICATED!
He calls himself "Ram"
And it is a labour of love.
WOW, HECK YEAH. Thanks brotha, gonna check this out
I am Casual Grinder.
Kudos to the mod creator(s). They're obviously old fans of D2.
They have stated that almost all Grim Dawn content (will need to keep respec potions and a few other things) will be removed once the game hits 1.0.0.0 in around 18 months (but will still offer a legacy version that keeps the GD content in).
I'm definitely enjoying this mod. I love GD, but when it gets old, this is really great.
People cry for a D2 remake from Blizzard. But as always. Blizzard is not Blizzard anymore. They give is a Diablo for mobile devices.
In their defense, Activision Blizzard makes almost same amount of money from mobile devices like from PC which is why they want to do mobile game. But as already mentioned many times. During blizzcon they should have reveal D4 and then Diablo mobile as a bonus.
You cant download it anyway. Just says download limit exceeded for this file. Might want to feed that back to them
I guess I have to ask about the horadric cube.
Anything craftable would be listed either at the blacksmith crafting list or like with the runewords, just visible in the list.
hey rhykker, can you talk about project diablo? It is said to be planned for release sometime in september.
Paladin+ Necromancer seems like the best combo
Seems Pally would probably be necessary to run with any elemental build just for conviction..unless you felt like running around with Infinity on some merc.
I wish I could play this though..this looks so amazing.
I'm probably going to check this mod out. Been playing GD a lot again, just got to Loghorrean with a new oathkeeper/shaman build. I hope we get a remake of D2, but until then or whatever this mod sounds like fun.
seriously, ppl still hope for a modern version of d2 from blizz after reforged...
D2 soundtrack was awesome, I hope they were able to add that.
Yes the musics are exactly the same and that's Amazing
how do aura's work in this? can you only use one? can you aura stack?
You do not need Diablo 2 remastered. This is the best D2 3D remastered option and I am having really good time in this game. Reached act 5 and I exit the town in order to do the 1st quest and raid of monsters just keep coming at you endlessly. I needed 40 min to be able to reach the boss at 1st quest. I loved D2 and some MODs as well like Ancestral Recall or Kingdom of Tenai and this game is Godlike D2 remake.
Grim Dawn with D2 mod is like the ultimate super sayian fusion .
What bugs me is that a bow is not considered a two handed ranged weapon or ranged weapon. Alot of the skills from GD does not work with a bow and that kinda sucks. Other than that, it is a good game
You show a Paladin/Sorceress as a combo but does a Sorceress/Paladin make a difference?
Imagine a dual dream tesladin with the sorceress lightning mastery
Stop imagining and do it :)
I might do that very build, after my Necro/ Druid pet army experiment!
Would Paladin + Necromancer build work? As in, my minions getting/triggering Paladin aura effects? If so this is my wet dream come true...
Yes, it works. Or at least it did when I played it a few months ago.
Phenomenal work. I'm amazed
The Toxinator
Necromancer + Assassin.
Max out poison skills and max out "Envenom" from assassin to just melt stuff in acid.
Isn't it possible to just "delete" all other none d2 classes and items?
This is going to get me playing Grim Dawn again :D
HOLY SHIIIIELD!!! I can't believe this is out now!!! Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!
3:15
A barbarian/shaman could be a fun build. Two-handed weapon with leaps and the elemental effects from the shaman.
Think this shows that diablo2 should be remade not remastered. we dont want a starcraft remastered which just gave us a 4k version of a clunky ass game when were used to the fluid gameplay of sc2. For example if blizzard ever remasters diablo2 and i need to physically click on gold to pick it up..... no thanks im so over that
Who made this?
Looks amazing.
How is the balance of this game? As cool as it seems, it genuinely smacks of balancing issues.
Rhykker my mans, my dooood, my boiiiii!
Lost Ark just officially got a Wester NA/EU Publisher with it being no other than Amazongames. PLEASE cover this!
I'M waiting for this game since the very very first 19mins korean trailer like 5-7? years ago i dont even know how long it has been.
I have never had such high hope and were in such desperate need of a new mmorpg and i think as shown my wolcen and classic etc. everyone does.
Please cover this game as much as possible, it rly need huge attention in the west i want the community to be rly big and for it to take place next to the big current 5 mmorpg, with them beeing WoW, Gw2, FFXIV, BDO and ESO. I want Lost Ark to sit right there with them.
I have so much love and hope for this game.
Much love to you Rhykker, humble fan from germany
Meh, MMOs are a dime a dozen, and worth as much... at least in my opinion. I do seem to be quite outnumbered though.
how many hours have you played ? maybe i dont have much time can i enjoy it or should i just grind?
Can’t wait to try it .
Diablo 2 fans: "I will make my own diablo 2 remastered with grim dawn and iron"
You need shaco and lidless wall and Whats the name of that chest....
i enjoyed your videos good job
I'm pretty sure that the only way to beat this is for the remaster to offer VR in the Unreal 5 engine.
Looks amazing as it is.
You can get a mod called "Grim Internals" and speed up your game up to 3x.
Doesn't work on "pirate" Grim Dawn version , even is the latest like official. But "Cheat Engine " works , can speed up x 10 if you want !...and you can add unlimited amount of money as well.
So you are telling me that I can be any character with his own auras? (having the Paladin class of course) where do I sign? This is beyond amazing, it opens the road for tons of fun.
It's a disturbingly good mod. I intend to play through it once I finish my D2 play through. The maps fantastic.
