I hope that even among so many comments you see this one. It is a recommendation from a place with a very famous food in Brazil, but that is far from the big centers. The famous Coxinhas, which I've seen videos that you ate in several bars in the main cities of Brazil, but I would like to indicate and recommend the coxinhas from the store "Coxinhas Douradas", which is located in Bueno de Andradra, a district of the city of Araraquara-SP . As I said, I know it's a place far from the big tourist centers for foreigners, but if you ever travel through the interior of the State of São Paulo, get to know and eat the diverse and varied coxinhas of "Coxinhas Douradas" by Bueno de Andradra. Steve and Ivana, thank you so much for coming to the rehearsal! It was great to see you guys enjoying! As I told you, our band is big but only some of them could participate on that rehearsal, including new people. Back in 2020 our bloco received 50.000 people and we are expecting more on 2023! You guys are welcome to spend Carnaval here in BH! Cheers!
Hey guys! It is really good to see you here in my city and I am so glad you are enjoying it. fígado com jiló is a very typical food here, but sincerely it is not something I would recommend, haha. I think it is famous because it is very good for what it is, I mean, liver and "jiló" are two things most people don't appreciate, but in this dish, it is manageable as Steve would say. Some people love it, but most don't. I would recommend you feijão tropeiro, tutu à mineira, frango com quiabo, vaca atolada, costelinha de porco, those are really good! Two good restaurants you guys will love are Dona Lucinha and A Pão de Queijaria!!
I´m from Bahia(not Salvador, but Vitoria da Conquista), I went to college at a City close to Belo Horizonte, Itabira. And now I´m living and working in São Paulo Capital. I can say the people from Minas Gerais are the nicest people, and very smart as well. And people from Bahia are the most enthusiastic and authentic (maybe not more than cariocas, but I don´t know them).
In minas you have to try "caldo de costela com mandioca 'vaca atolada' ", "caldo de galinha caipira", "feijão tropeiro", "picolé de mineiro", "galopé", "arroz com pequi", "bambá de couve 'in Ouro Preto city' ", "tutu", "rabada", "porco a pururuca"... You have to visit the city Ouro Preto and Mariana too.
There is an expression we use in BH which is: BH is an egg, because, even though it is big, everyone knows someone who knows someone else. I mean, we all have a friend in common. Coincidentally, my cousin's wife is in the video. Because it plays in the band that was filmed at the beginning of the video.
Liver with scarlet eggplant is a typical dish from Minas Gerais. The two elements divide opinions. Most Brazilians don't like it. I like it, and with lots of onions and pepper with cachaça and beer!!!
I'm from bh and I really enjoy watching videos of other people in Brazil or in my city because it just gives me a different perspective of things I barely even notice or even dislike here. Watching you guys have a good time in BH and brazil is really refreshing!
Minas Gerais oh terra abençoada, povo maravilhoso, comida fantástica, musicalidade ímpar. Saudades, muitos anos longe de ti. Preciso voltar antes de morrer. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey guys, what a privilege! I'm so excited and happy for you guys. You are having a blast in my country while I'm living a boring life in the cold Ireland. hahahahah Thank you for the amazing videos. Always when I watch your uploads, you manage to take me back not only to Brazil but to the best of it! No wonder why Brazilians like you so much. Your vibe matches our BR vibe! Just awesome! HAVE FUN!!!
From block party to street market. What can be better than that. Love the dress Ivana. Definitely 11 out of 10!!! Never tried liver or chicken hearts! Skinless, boneless chicken. Thanks for taking us along! Keep safe, healthy and happy .
Good job on the liver, guys 😆 I don't know if people pranked you, but this is some kind of hardcore boteco food. Fits much better with an ice cold beer though. I like it, but would say not even half of Brazilians does.
Giló is like a weird lime mixed with eggplant, most people in Brazil don't like it raw (like me for instance), usually we feed birds with that, because they love it. However, a slice of fried giló can be really tasty, it takes the bitterness away and it becomes an excellent snack, especially with farofa and other sauces.
I don't know if liver is the best recommendation hah, I kinda like it but I see why most people don't, its okay if you dislike it too! So cool seeing you guys on my state, really hope you can go visit some historical cities like Ouro Preto. Theres a bunch of traditional food in Minas Gerais, I know you tried some of them, but if you want to try more: -Frango com quiabo (one of my favorites). Its roast chicken with okra, I know it seems weird but its so good, you don't need to eat okra if its not your type of food, just the chicken and soup; -Feijão tropeiro. This one I love the flavour, but its really dry, which I'm not a fan of, you'll probably need a drink to eat; -Salpicão or Mayonnaise (yeah, that's the name xD). These can be more difficult to find, because it's not an everyday food, but both are amazing, salpicão is also one of my favorite foods. They're a mix of vegetables, mayo and chicken (on salpicão) that you eat cold, even with hot food Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip and come back whenever!
So cool to see y’all enjoying my city hahahaha! I adore São Paulo and Rio but BH has this chilling vibe and weather. ❤ Feira Hippie is so cool! U guys have to also spend a night in the botecos on Sapucaí of BH!!! It has rly many cool botecos there with the amazing view of the graffiti of those buildings u guys saw! I always suggest my gringo friends to spend time there hahaha
great video guys!! liver is that kind of food that you love or hate (in this case I hate it lol), but the jiló I LOVE! And buying clothes at a fair is a VERY Brazilian thing 😍

The neighbourhood rehearsals in preparation for carnaval are just about the best thing about the whole carnaval experience. You really see the passion and effort these people put into it.
i love how my country is mixed race and how we get along, im so proud of it, from the native americans of the Amazon to the asians\italians\africans in the mid east all the way to the germanic\east europe south!
Don't feel forced to like to like liver or jiló: those are far from being unanimously loved - I myself can't stand either of them, while my mother loves both. You get major kudos for giving these new experiences a try, but nobody is expected to like everything.
Try to find "Pastel de fubá" or "Pastel de farinha de milho", it only can be found in Minas and most Brazilians don´t now about. I love the channel, I live in the south of Minas Gerias, close to São Paulo. If I was close to BH I would be the one to offer you a rich Mineiro tour. It is all right not to like liver with giló, lots of brazilians I know hate this food. You also could check pamonha, cural, pé de moleque, pé de moça, doce de figo, doce de abóbora, cow tongue, black pudding (chouriço). And for sure, you most go to a all you can eat sef service buffet for lunch.
Guys, as suggested by the common English name (Scarlet eggplant) and attested by the botany, the fruit of the plant named in Brazil as "jiló" or "giló" has a close affinity with eggplant (and with tomato and potato as well), all being species of the genus Solanum. Considering you're experiencing jiló for the first time, it's remarkable that you've "classified" it correctly. Your taste buds are heightened! Enjoy Minas!
CANADENSE NO BRASIL KKK EU,BRASILEIRA NO CANADA HÁ 15 ANOS. MY HUSBAND IS CANADIAN TOO,12 YEARS ALREADY. ENJOY MY CITY BELO HORIZONTE,THE FOOD IS AMAZING.
So as you could see this wasn't a traditional samba school in SP or RJ cities but a "bloc". People in blocs don't usually wear costumes, sometimes just a t-shirt simbolyzing the bloc. They don't have an avenue where they compete like the samba schools, instead they go through the streets, sometimes on top of trucks, and they play not samba but either axé (an african inspired genre born in Bahia but pretty popular in the country as a whole) or marchinhas (a special kind of carnival genre, short songs with repetitive lyrics which are kind of made to be funny, almost parody-like). Street carnivals happen in SP and RJ cities too (and BH) but they are especially famous in small towns of SP state and Minas.
I'm Brazilian and I don't like liver either. It's not for everyone. I'm so glad you followed my advice and went to the Hippie Fair though, I was sure you would like it. The name is kinda misleading, but it is a very fun street market
It is not only Belo horizonte. Minas state is one the best states in Brazil. Full of great historical cities like Diamantina ,ouro preto , etc etc . And cities like Araxa, urberlandia ,pocos de caldas etc . And if you have time in Brazil go to goiania capital of goias
Steve and Ivana I am enjoying watching you enjoying your visit to BH. This is where I now live (american expat, retired) and I love BH. I suggest you visit restaurante Xapuri or restaurant Caipira Xique for an exposure to upscale Menero cuisine. you will also experience a different part of our city. enjoy
It's good to see that you are enjoying Belo Horizonte and Brazil I live in Congonhas Minas Gerais here you have the works of the famous Alejadinho who made the twelve prophets in soapstone.. the churches here are very beautiful to visit, there are also the waterfall parks beautiful place to spend the weekend ,and there is still a new museum to visit with beautiful works, it is close to the church ..

Lol, I'm Brazilian and live in Boston for 20 years, loved you too gringos eating liver and scarlet eggplants. Very Brazilian meal. Love your channel, keep up the good work.
Steve, about the embroidered clothing that you saw and thought was European in style, please never forget that we were also colonized by Europeans, Portuguese of course and most of all. The style seems to resemble clothing from the Azores in Portugal and is very common throughout Brazil.
Brave of you to try Liver and Jiló without remembering what Liver tastes like (i hate the stuff). It's an acquired taste for most. But chicken hearts are delicious.
Casa fúnebre is such a gem! There's something really poetic about it too, but idk if it was evident to viewers. The bar is actually right across the cemetery! It's like the very essence of life: to party and celebrate life while looking death right across its face
The design of the dress ia s Bahia thing, it's pretty far from my country Minas gerais so I don't know where it come from but when you go to Bahia you will sure get the vibe, thanks for coming to Brasil 💕 your videos
I'm so happy to see you in Belo Horizonte and enjoying the city! Figado and jiló is one of those dishes that either one loves or doesn't like it at all. But it usually goes well with an ice cold beer lol. Don't be hard on yourself for not liking it Steve, many mineiros don't! Thank-you for the great content!
The guy selling the "poop" was so funny, he was saying "Shit of the highest quality! Look it's shit, shit, shit! Everything for you to give your friend as a Secret Santa present and make your friend happy!" Hahahahah he was selling for you to troll your friend as a Secret Santa gift or just troll people in general LOL. Pretty sure that's not food is just a decoration thingy, and nothing else. That is not common here btw HAHA You can see once you stopped by everyone stopped also and started to laugh. Love people's creativity in the Feira Hippie (Hippie Fair).

7:00 usually they use a projector on the facade of the building at night to draw the outline of the image, and then they paint everything.
Fígado com jiló é muito bom!! Gosto demais!
Steve and Ivana will stay in BH now. They're falling love to the City.
😅😅😅👏👏👏
Muito bom! Vá a Ouro Preto!
Pelo visto eles vão perder a oportunidade. Mesmo estando a 2 horas desse lugar magnifíco.
@@matheusmandai6675 eles vão pra lá dia 22 se não me engano
I totally recommend you guys to visit Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais. It is a historic and amazing place.
OBRIGADO POR GOSTAR DO NOSSO PAÍS, DE BELO HORIZONTE TAMBÉM.
Melhor canal do RUclips 💚❤
i love how my country is mixed race and how we get along, im so proud of it, from the native americans of the Amazon to the asians\italians\africans in the mid east all the way to the germanic\east europe south!
Don't feel forced to like to like liver or jiló: those are far from being unanimously loved - I myself can't stand either of them, while my mother loves both. You get major kudos for giving these new experiences a try, but nobody is expected to like everything.
Show ✅
Obrigado travellers por vir ao nosso Brazil
Thanks to come to Belo Horizonte, the most hospitaleiro city in Brasil!❤❤
Eu amo o meu Brasil! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Vocês são muito simpáticos
@@paulokao kkkkkkkkk
Next time ask for a Fork (Garfo). The Basic: Fork = Garfo, Knife = Faca, Spoon = Colher, Cup = Copo, Plate = Prato, Bowl = Tigela
Fígado acebolado com jiló, é bom demais! Hehehe
I think this year you guys are enjoying Brazil even more
I'm Brazilian and I don't like liver either.
I looovvveee a feira hippie!!! Que saudade da minha BH!
Tem que visitar, CURITIBA -PARANA-
8:13 this type of clothes are also used here in Latin America , northeast of brazil you find a lot , Bahia too.
Steve eating liver with jiló and onion, momma must be proud 😂😂
Steve and Ivana I am enjoying watching you enjoying your visit to BH. This is where I now live (american expat, retired) and I love BH. I suggest you visit restaurante Xapuri or restaurant Caipira Xique for an exposure to upscale Menero cuisine. you will also experience a different part of our city. enjoy
You guys are missing Capitólio. Please go visit it it’s so romantic!
Fantástic 👍🇧🇷
Eu amo esse vídeo !!!
Guys don't need to be polite, Fígado com Jiló is not that good. I know some people can enjoy it, but the majority will hate it.
I Love this vídeo!
Jiló in English is Scarlet eggplant
BH é da hora Mano!!! Sou Paulista e Belo Horizonte é da Hora Mano!!!!!!!!!!!!! Muito bom mesmo!!!!!
you are amazing (vocês são incríveis)
Fígado e coração tem gosto parece kkk
I loooove figado, jilo, coracao!!!! I envy you both now!
Casa fúnebre is such a gem! There's something really poetic about it too, but idk if it was evident to viewers. The bar is actually right across the cemetery! It's like the very essence of life: to party and celebrate life while looking death right across its face
How I miss Bh, I’ve been living abroad and, thank you guys for keeping me in contact with where I was born and raised. ❤
Thats great how you guys are living your best lives right there
liver is so bad
i'm impressed you guys kept it cool lol
Jiló is also bad
All in all, you guys went to an adventure that I wouldn't like to join in
Same!!!
The man selling shit decoration with corn and cockroach 🤣🤣🤣🤣 "muito bom"
Jiló = scarlet eggplant, not really an eggplant (aubergine).
Bem-vindos ao nosso Brasil, aproveitem a nossa cultura, o nosso povo e culinária! 🇧🇷
