Ted, I am a stickler for neatness. I always 'tie wrap ' all the wires and I DATE all the parts replaced. Good habit to get in to. I leave a service tag outside the unit with parts and date it was changed. 👍 Working in Albuquerque NM we had to bang on the 'Outside Units' to inform the rattle snakes that we will be working on the unit. You'd be surprised how many run for shelter. Its the baby rattlers that stand their ground. 😂 Mano (Baltimore)
Ted,I respect your working habits, but I wanted to say that all you need is a 2 inch round magnet from the hardware store to use on the furnace blower switch instead of using tape or your fingers. Thanks for reading ,I hope this helps .Keep up the great work !
Any suggestions on how might I find in Central VA, a similarly competent and scrupulous HVAC ...Troubleshooting Technician? Not interested in being filtered through any HVAC gropers, fiddlers, trainees or wannabes. My new system is working fine, but I want several upgrades; much improved air filtering, HEPA/electrostatic air cleaner and fresh air access. Keep up the great work. I enjoy your videos on many levels, including how you let us see what you do and how you do it.
what should they use? ( something more vibration prone and that will have terminal and wire degradation(fretting) until it builds resistance and or cuts through itself.. ( yeah that happens) where as terminals will wear slower (wire flex breakage in long term if wrapped and torqued properly)
Ive always wondered if a zoning setup that has 1 'master' thermostat that kicks the unit on, but it wont kick off till all zones are satisfied and it will just direct more air to the zones that need it. I've been in peoples homes where each zone can call for heat/air and the unit is constantly kicking on and off, blows my mind.....
Could installing a external relay tied to the W call to energize the induce motor work to get them by till new board arrived? I know inducer runs little after burners are turned off to purge but just to get them through the night.
I agree on the liability issues its called break out a few electric heaters to keep warm until the repair is made and on top of that the board still wouldn't fire off the gas furnace even if you did run the draft motor off a relay thats why he couldn't get the furnace to fire off manually while tripping out the draft motor .....
Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you just add a relay with c and w as coil voltage and then just send l1 through the normally open switch? Just to get them by of course. Maybe I’m missing something
Speaking of the blue oval, I had someone ask me if I liked a "belt buckle" over a "bow tie." I had one belt buckle in my life, and I do prefer a bow tie.
Would jumping the inducer to run constant allow furnace to cycle heat on and off until board could be replaced if say it had to be ordered and was 2-3 days out ?
Zoning single stage equipment is just dumb. 2 roughly equal zones is ok with 2 stage equipment, but a modulating zone system with communicating equipment is the way to go, or a full on VRF system with multiple indoor units, is the way to go. In my area we have tons of house built in the last 20 years with single stage zoned system. When they inevitably kill the compressor, I've been selling people Bosch BOVA outdoor unit, works very nicely with whatever the zone system is doing.
Thank you BiG TeD for the zoning trash explanation. KISS! Thanks again for the videos! 🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🏌🏻♀️🎯 Stay safe. Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses! FORD MAN! 5.0!(PEANUT BLOCK)🤣
1:35 that’s a good one.
I normally call them the comfort shaker.

Ted I have to say for some one who is always learning you have taught me so much in a short time
Thanks for the support !! I really appreciate it !!
Yes!! exactly what I needed on this friday night. Thanks Ted!
Ted don't need no, no, no photo! He remembers where all the wires go on the board!

Always nice to see two returns ! Darn main boards...not built robust enough to handle the trail intended.
Ted, be careful out in the snow Sunday ! Great video ….
ICP is starting to go to micro channel Evap coils. Pulled one out of the box the other day and shook my head
Calming and great work friend !
I find it amazing the manufacturers still put screw terminals on boards for low voltage wiring.
what should they use? ( something more vibration prone and that will have terminal and wire degradation(fretting) until it builds resistance and or cuts through itself.. ( yeah that happens) where as terminals will wear slower (wire flex breakage in long term if wrapped and torqued properly)
so you have engineering degree? Next you will find it amazing they still attach wires to the board instead of using wireless lol
I'd much rather have screw terminals than those horrible "tooless' connections so many controls have gone to.
Ted, have you considered using a headlamp?
The board has a separate neutral connection for the blower because it is the highest current device in that system and the board has to carry it
Hello Ted from Woodstock IL. Great videos.

Mutant cyclops!🤣 wouldn’t that be a tricyclops?🤔 Good God your a tripod!🤣 Great stuff!👍 have a good weekend Ted!

What I was thinkin.
I thought the same thing, or maybe use a 5kw sequencer, to give a little bit of run time after the call for heat ends.
Liability issues.in that scenario.
My thoughts exactly! I’ve done this a few times for a temp fix. But I live in Wisconsin so heat is a must at times.

Thanks Ted for another great video
You can add a separate relay for the inducer motor. Check safety sensors and replace later.
Correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you just add a relay with c and w as coil voltage and then just send l1 through the normally open switch? Just to get them by of course. Maybe I’m missing something
Greetings from Australia !!
Hello there!
Ted I'm an ICP Dealer and that is the first I heard of micro channel evaporator coil but I will reach out to my wholesaler and find out
It would be a pain to get the blower out with those half assed ductboard takeoffs do they have return filter grills
it look like pressure switch, not reopening, good find.
The best on RUclips
Is it all evap coils or just the cased coils for gas furnaces
Ted, is the Comfortmaker system, a reliable or problematic system?
Speaking of the blue oval, I had someone ask me if I liked a "belt buckle" over a "bow tie." I had one belt buckle in my life, and I do prefer a bow tie.
120v through your alligator clip jumper wire?
Great video, I'm a Yankee, what is a jimmy wiggler? 😂
Good vid 👍👍👍 ... Thx for posting ...
One of the many reasons that I know that man did not evolve from a monkey is that a tail would still be in use.
Tedd what’s the avg cost parts and labor to do a board ?
That unit seemed to be new , why the board goes bad so fast.
These videos are strangely addictive. Comment: There is no substitute for professional service persons like this one. Always hire a pro. Don't DIY.
Cheap solid state relays on those boards! Makes everybody happy except the homeowners.
Would jumping the inducer to run constant allow furnace to cycle heat on and off until board could be replaced if say it had to be ordered and was 2-3 days out ?
On older equipment, likely yes. Newer stuff checks for the pressure switch to cycle between states.
I missed how old was the unit ?
Don't apologize just move the stuff
I'm going to keep my old furnace without a control board forever!
one, two, three, it's blinking with glee, screaming pressure switch err. but is it really? probably not 🤪
LED headlamp 😉

Great trouble shooter .
Really do not the look of those blower wires rubbing against that return collar, would have bent those teeth back to prevent a future issue.
Teds zoning 101, what not to do. Thanks
I like some Chevy's and some Ford's and don't have a Carrier!!!!!!!!!!! 😛 😝 😜 🤪 😛 😝 😜 🤪
Nice getting your wife's friends up and running. Great troubleshooting also
Thank you BiG TeD for the zoning trash explanation.

I actually like ICP ok.... I just like to say that.
You need to work on your voice level one minute I can hear you then can't hear nothing
mico channel is bad news
