  • To fire his deputy, the smug boss sent her to a deliberately failed negotiation. The woman came to the meeting and was shocked to see her fiancé, who had died 5 years earlier....
A young woman went from cleaning lady to deputy director. But once she came to a negotiation, she saw her fiancé, who died five years ago, at the negotiations.....

"Kelly, come to my office immediately! I need to discuss a case with you." The gruff voice from the switchboard made Kelly jump in her chair. When director summoned her, it usually meant trouble. Kelly glanced at her pocket mirror, smoothed her hair, took a deep breath, and went to the boss's office.
Mr.Brown, the recently appointed director of the consulting firm, greeted Kelly with the usual contempt in his ice-blue eyes. Ру was only twenty-eight but looked younger due to his delicate physique and soft, wheat-colored curly hair. At the same time, his unexpectedly low, almost gravelly voice often gave people a shock when they first met him.
Mr.Brown was always impeccably dressed, as if he represented his company to the president every day. Some employees even suspected that part of their salaries, so unexpectedly cut at the beginning of this year, reduced salaries at the start of the year funded his wardrobe. Mr.Brown openly hated Kelly, partly because just six months prior, she had been an ordinary cleaner in their office.
Indeed, Kelly was a unique case, a person who had risen from the very bottom to the position of deputy director. However, according to Mr.Brown, the old director had made a grave error in hiring a simple "country girl" for such a critical role.
"I will rectify this error soon, within a week maximum!" thought the new director, while looking at his deputy with clear contempt.
"Good afternoon, Mr.Brown," Kelly timidly began, carefully closing the door behind her. "Did you call for me?"
"I did," the director confirmed with a grin. "Kelly, are you aware that in five days we will have important negotiations with Feldman Industrial? These negotiations will determine whether you can continue in your role as my deputy."
"Yes, I've heard about it," the girl replied quietly in a soft voice.
Of course, she was aware of these negotiations! Everyone in the company knew that Feldman Industrial would likely never agree to make a deal with a firm as medium-sized as theirs. Nevertheless, it seemed as though her boss had gone to great lengths to invite representatives of this esteemed brand to the table.
"Mr.Seagren describes you as a brilliant economist with remarkable diplomatic skills," Mr.Brown continued, squinting. "It would be a poor decision on my part not to let you demonstrate your abilities in such a significant case. Moreover, your skills and actions could potentially save the entire company!"
Mr.Brown delivered the final phrase with feigned drama, seemingly enjoying the humiliation of his unfortunate subordinate. Kelly was aware of where he was going, and it made her even more anxious.
"Mr.Brown, I apologize, but I believe we discussed this a week ago: I am not authorized to conduct such important negotiations without your direct presence. It would be purely disrespectful to the people of Feldman Industrial. Moreover, in the last report, I presented all the potential scenarios regarding cooperation with them as partners. With all due respect, Mr.Brown, it's too risky. If we fail, all the company's assets could suffer, which we cannot afford. Remember, we already lost twenty percent of our shares on the market in July?"

Poor Kelly went through so much in her life, yet she overcame it all because of her hard work and ambition to take care of her twins. Thank God she had Helen from the orphanage, who helped her regain some self esteem. What a despicable, greedy and evil person Mr. Brown was, he got what he deserved. I'm so happy Kelly and Lance found each other again after so many years. Lance's parents were so devious and judgemental. Now they realize how they kept their son from his happiness for so many years. Thank you for another wonderful story. I love every story you post. Your my favorite narrator of all time. Looking forward to your next story.

I am happy for Lance and Kelly. How much she suffered, poor girl! But she should be very cautious with her parents in law. Debunked, exposed for their evil doing, they could be dangerous. Be careful Kelly. Again a wonderful story and a wonderful narrator

It was a blessing in disguise when Mr. Brown send Kelly to the meeting, he hope she would fail in her negotiations but she succeeded and most of all reunited with her future husband whom she had believed to be dead. He meant evil, but the tide was turn in her favour.

I suffered for a number of years on the job. My boss took me in the conference room and "explained" to me that black people are different. I should have filed charges right then. I was retired/laid off for 2 years and I was still getting calls from the technicians that I worked with. He also accused me of asking for commendations from their bosses. I loved my techs. I sent them Christmas stockings with goodies. I made homemade cheese cake for them. I truly was the red headed stepchild.

What a story. Best narrator ever! OMG! Lance must have been adopted (jk), because anyone as loving as he was could not possibly have had the ones who were considered to be his birth parents. The fact that Kelly could forgive them makes her a better person than they could ever be. WOW! 🦋🦋🦋🌟🦋🦋🦋

Good narrator and story, but there is no way I would have ever forgiven someone who lied to me about a death. Sorry maybe I am set in my ways, but lying about someone dying is just unforgiveable. But the story was good, wish there was a little more at the ending, like a few details about the shock when she got the deal and etc, but over all I would listen to it again

Twins two in one special ( just kidding wanted to add the positive take of the story)!! Because of the girl she was she forgave/not sure if I could’ve cause his parents were!!! But it had a happy ending need that in today’s world I say!!🙏🏻♥️

Even though one set of parents were poor and unable to care for their daughter, the other set was rich and cared only for themselves, and not what their child needed. Thank you.
