    The Wikipedia entry for the Planet Vulcan theory reads differently from Creepy's explanation. It correctly notes that General Relativity (way back in 1915) was able to explain Mercury's movement without requiring invisible phantom planets, thus putting the Vulcan thing definitively to bed. So Decker's initial critique was correct.

    Ive never understood why Decker got hate for how weirdly this gamerathon entry turned out.
    Yes i knew what Decker promised, but having seen this years after the fact- and seeing the video of Decker and Creepy's trials and tribulations in Japan first, i understand why this entry in the marathon saga is the way it is,
    Also decker anr creepys criticisms in this one are funny and on point, sometimes at the same time!
    Imo, this was classic Decker at his peak.

Of course being in Japan, it's sort of lost a bit of it's "mystical" quality to me. While sound doesn't travel in space, what does it do when traveling close to the speed of light, where obviously there would be sufficient gas available (ever hear the shock wave of a sonic boom?), there could be SOME sound. You're literally compressing whatever gas is in front of you, not what our current tech is able to do, lazily floating around in orbit.

    • @DeckerShado
      @DeckerShado  9 лет назад +2

      MURDOCH LUNDGREN The original wasn't completely, but did have a main child character. The 2nd movie with Gamera had no child characters but the 3rd film, Gamera VS Gyaos, started having the child characters be more and more plot relevant.
      Fast forward to the Heisei era, and it's the dark/gritty Gamera reboot. While there are younger characters, they are in their late teens and the movies are very much not directed at children. However, the latest Gamera movie, Gamera the Brave, rewound back to the kid-friendly version of the story along with a newborn Gamera, who is a giant firebreathing turtle of.. cuteness. So yeah, kid's movie.

    Decker, I have misjudged you. I retract every single criticism I have ever made against you, all accusations of you being incompetent, and every claim I have ever made that you mishandled, misspent and misappropriated the money that your fans donated to you in good faith. Why, just watching this review - easily the most expensive footage of two white nerds and a toy octopus sitting on a couch in front of a non-descript, generic white background ever shot - I was absolutely blown away not only by the quality of the cinematography, but by the fact that you have clearly invested every single cent of your audience's money to great and wise effect. You can literally see every dime on the screen. Bravo, Decker.
    Seriously, though, Decker, THIS cost over $6400 to make? You had all that money and THIS is what you've arrived at? What an absolute travesty. Decker, it would have been more efficient and cost-effective to just skip out on the whole 'going to Japan' thing and simply buy a new couch. Because that's the sum effect here, Decker. You're in Japan? Well, I guess I'll just have to take your word for it, because you look like you could be literally anywhere on planet Earth.
    You're on a couch in front of a white wall. The only thing that makes this in any way different to your regular reviews is that your old couch is a dirty brown colour, whereas this one is grey and considerably cleaner. Oh, and this one cost you over $6400 to sit on.
    Decker, do you actually understand why filmmakers shoot on location in the first place? It's not because they want a free vacation, it's because the location will have something that they can't just make at home for less money. What you've done is waste a vast sum of money to travel out to Japan for the sole purpose of making something that literally looks almost exactly the same as your regular output that you film at home for free. You've literally thrown all your fans' money away, making something that doesn't look any different to what you normally do! I could not believe it when I was watching it. I couldn't believe someone would be so foolish as to waste everybody's time and money by making something like this and then shamelessly upload it RUclips to share with those people as if it was of sufficient quality. I kept expecting you to do something else and you never did. I kept thinking, alright, there's still time, they'll like wackily 'teleport' somewhere else like Tokyo Tower or Yoyogi Park or Mt. Fuji or Harajuku or SOMEWHERE, just SOMEWHERE to show that they actually went out to Japan, to make it interesting for the viewer and to demonstrate that this is worth the money that people paid for it. And you NEVER DID, Decker. You didn't even pan over to a goddamn window! You just stayed sat on that couch like a pair of fucking gonks. Even right at the end, after the review was finished, I was still giving you the benefit of the doubt, hoping against hope that in the last three minutes you'd do something like that, but no. But hey, good thing you spent that last three minutes concentrating on an overly long, self-important and unnecessary credits sequence that nobody's going to watch anyway, followed by a long shot of the Manic Expression logo that lasts FOR OVER A MINUTE, otherwise you might've had to fill that time with something interesting instead and nobody wants that, right? Also, you spelled the word 'additional' wrong in your credits. Quality control right there, Decker. If only your budget of over $6400 had stretched to the costs of a dictionary.
    The sound quality isn't quite as bad as in your previous vlog on the street, but it's clear that you're intentionally keeping your voices down and trying to be quiet, because this is filmed at night and you don't want to incur the wrath of the hotel staff by keeping the other guests awake. Did it never occur to you to film in the day, Decker? Or maybe outside? Somewhere interesting? Or, at the very least, did you ever consider asking the staff politely if you could film? All these simple things Decker and you're apparently unable to think of them. This is basic common sense. Hell, if you weren't able to talk at a normal volume, why didn't you just rerecord all of the dialogue again, once you got home or somewhere you were able to speak normally, and then just dub it over the top? That's what they do in films where there's background noise or distortion or for whatever reason an actor can't be heard saying his or her lines. But then, I guess that would've been extra work for you, and you've already made over $6400 out of this and had your free vacation, so there's not really any incentive to try any more.
    Also, Decker, to return to your dubious claims that you're totally not a pervert or a racist, at several points in this video we see you make lascivious comments about the 'Japanese space-babes' and then, one point at your review, the statement is made that all Japanese people are good at math... Guess what, Decker? That's a racist stereotype! So, well done for that.
    To close, Decker, right at the beginning of this review, in response to Creepy basically making my own criticism for me (indicating at least a modicum of self-awareness on Creepy's part) you say that you would have loved to have had a 'zany adventure for Gamerathon 3'. I'm going to point out that if you really wanted to, Decker, YOU COULD HAVE. If you had planned ahead a little more thoroughly than not at all, you could easily have come up with something considerably more entertaining than this. You wouldn't have even had to have planned ahead years in advance, since you apparently had twelve hours sitting around in Beijing airport before arriving in Japan - you could have used that time responsibly and professionally, planned your route, used those wretched rail passes of yours and produced something interesting, fun to watch and representing value for money for your paying audience. As it was, all you did in Beijing was waste time watching movies instead.
    You blame the lack of a zany adventure in Japan on another 'zany adventure' that you apparently had GETTING to Japan. I'm sure, by now, I don't need to tell you, Decker, that this wasn't a 'zany adventure' - it was the results of your lack of planning and professionalism coming home to roost. Actions have consequences, Decker. This wasn't something out of your control, you had plenty of time - a year, in fact - to plan this properly and iron out any potential problems you may have faced. That you didn't do that is nobody's fault but your own.

      +Jimmy Smits I'm guessing you contributed? See, here's the problem you need to come to terms with: if you did pay, like most Hollywood producers will tell you, all you did was pay for a promise, and as long as Decker delivers on the promise, that's all you can ask for. Many producers (people who invest money into film or video) feel like their money could have been better utilized and every film has one or two that claims they were cheated and the production misused the funds- but that's the risk you take. It's not up to you! If someone says "I need $10,000 to make a 30 minute Holocaust documentary" and you pay $5,000 and others pay $10, and the production reaches the $10,000 goal and the documentary gets made, then the terms were satisfied. You don't get any more say because you invested half the costs (unless a previous arrangement was made) and you may be angry that the documentary was 22 minutes of music, 2 minutes of credits and only 6 minutes of actual dialogue, but guess what!? You are shit out of luck! You paid toward producing a 30 minute documentary and that's what you got- arrangement fulfilled! If the director needed to appease each and every contributor, then the doc would never be complete because each person that paid would expect something else done their way. You took a chance and this was the result. Deal with it. If you are dissatisfied, then be more selective in the future. And sure, you can write a 10,000 word rant in the comment section- that's your prerogative, but if you think $6,400 gets anyone very far when airfare, hotel, food and transport is factored in, then you really need to travel more and see how much the real world can suck you dry. I just spent 4 days in Austin Texas from NY and all in all it cost me $2,200 and I didn't have to fly across an ocean.
