I was one who wanted student forgiveness but realized the govt can't be counted on for this. Yahweh blessed me enough to be able to pay them off in full and today is that day! Praise God

In Chinese, the words, mai (to buy) and mai (to sell), sound like mama, the word for mama or mother.

7 was a number that did not divide easily in the ancient Sumerian sexagesimal system. It became ascribed to the gods. Sumerian math and astronomy and alphabet influenced the entire ancient world. This again is the reason why I never find myself content with believing that stories in the Bible are meant to be literally interpreted even when they reference historic people and events. So much of what we think could never have arisen without "divine intervention" (and really how is divine intervention to be distinct from all of creation itself?) is really the result of many historic events and cultures mixing to produce peculiar and influential ideas... which can and often do point to ongoing psychological and social needs of the human race. Would we really want god's most holy interaction with us to only and specifically be an ancient fiery mountain or burning bush? And yet, the birth of America as a free nation and against all historic odds seems like no less than a fiery miracle. Thus a memorable story depicting it that way would convey the impact of it for those who did not experience the fear and wonder at the very moment of the declaration of independence. So many stories are told this way in Jewish tradition for that very reason, I believe. Then there is the fact that even normal events can be perceived in a supernatural way when our hearts pay deep attention. When it comes to recognizing the beauty of our traditions, even these can become broken tablets, so to speak. They do not encapsulate the whole organic truth of humankind, but they are infinitely valuable nonetheless. So we must maintain some humility ESPECIALLY because these miracles are so great and that our ancestors should ever notice them....Would we ourselves be so attentive at this moment? If we decide preemptively that the reason our ancestors passed on so formidable a tradition was because of a past unique "intervention" of god, we may predisposed to assume that we ourselves could never attain such awareness or even beyond it. Then perhaps we hold ourselves back! We cannot simply fall back on literal readings of metaphorical stories to defend spiritual truths much deeper than the events used to symbolize them. Otherwise, how would we ever distinguish between supernatural revelation and insanity or even just plain misunderstanding of what we see?

Great wisdom Rabbi. However if we study the history of China and its invention of the bank note as well as its working system, a lot of your points do fall apart.

Thanks for writing, Teknik, but actually I don't think so. I sometimes do make mistakes but I don't think this is one of them. The industrial revolution never happened in China until westerners brought it there. An economic system bringing widespread increase in living standards didn't happen in China until the westerners brought it. I appreciate your kind words--Cordially ~ RDL
