We LOVE Gaston! Only $150 ??!!! They are Guardian animals - must take care if individuals are ok with certain animals - but this Gaston had a very sweet disposition- if I ever can?? I'm getting me a Donkey just like him!! I had no idea about those markings?!! I thought they were dark tips like on a siamese cat?? I was WRONG = & learned more!! In comments I hear him called a jack donkey? A Jerusalem donkey (I like that one!) What a sweet animal I hope & 🙏 he/ got a very good home🥰❤️
Sad that you didn't spend a measly $175ish to get Gaston...he could have been a buddy for your pony or guard for your sheep. That one's going to keep you awake at night!
@@vanillaghetto That's a hell of a mean thing to say! And little teeny boppers like you have no idea what it's like being responsible for a whole farm full of animals, and a family of 5. Keeping everyone fed, healthy and happy. With all 3 kids still in school. And 2 of them girls, who cost way more. Plus all the electronics and expensive toys that all kids think they need now, to keep up with all their freinds at school. It's insane what all that costs! You have to think WAY beyond the purchase price of $175, to ALL of the future costs, in time as well as money. Half of auction animals require immediate veterinary care, at about $300 an hour, plus medications and repeat exams. Feed alone costs a fortune. It might seem to you they can live on grass, but they actually can only have grass as a small part of their diet, or else they get a crippling disease called founder. Many foundered equines need to be put down. And grass isn't even available in winter. Every time any RUclipsr goes to any auction, they are always just bombarded with people begging them to go back and get such and such, or berating them for not saving at least one more horse every time they set foot at an auction. In order to keep learning and to keep up on new trends, as well as to find used equipment, owners need to go to auctions, where they will be able to see a wide variety of horses and their owners, and ask questions of real live people. Reading and videos can only give a person just so much. In fact RUclips is a terrible way to learn about horses. A lot of disjointed junk, in no particular order, presented by people who have no clue half of the time. Horse people need to be around other horse people. And if they have to endure this kind of pressure from the viewers too much, they will just stop showing auctions. You have no idea how stressful it is to them to try to keep everyone happy! They love to share, but you guys just don't think about them as real live people with feelings. You hide behind your screen names and say any old rude thing you want to anyone, whenever you feel like it. As one of them keeps saying, she can not just start hoarding horses! If she did what the immature girls wanted her to do, she wouldn't be able to give proper care to any of them, and would end up going broke, and having to sell them all. Then they'd ALL be in dire straits! At some point these horse owners have to say no more. Or at the very least, no more unprofitable horses. So stop saying unkind things to them. JR did try to make sure the donkey got a home, and if the lady hadn't taken him, JR was going to find a friend who could. It's more than most people would do, and it's not his fault she backed out at the last minute, leaving him dumbfounded and unsure what to do. In a flash it was over! And then it was too late. Haven't you ever had anything like that happen to you? As young as you seem, I'm sure you have. And knowing JR, he feels awful about it! I can tell by his voice. He really wanted to help and he tried to, but he got screwed by that lady. So you and all these other immature people need to get off their backs! This family already took on a lifelong commitment to Oliver. And more recently they rescued a mare and her foal from another auction. I forget the horses' names. The foal is almost white. The video is on their channel. They are following through on all 3 of those horses. That's 3 in under 6 months, so they deserve your praise, not derision. Grow up.

❤ I fell in love with the donkey myself but hey guys all you pummeling Homestead folks back off and remember they arent your servants that you should be ordering them around. They are doing their best which is all God asks of any of us, not to have to be perfect all the time. ❤❤
Thank you so much for saying that! I have just said the same thing pretty much, directly to about 3 of the people who were the worst. They seem to not understand that a LOT more than just the purchase price goes into every animal. And I just know that Emery and JR are going to feel SO PRESSURED by all of these comments. They have already rescued 3 horses in less than 6 months from auctions. But these childlike people only see something cute and respond with "Get it for me!" Like 2 year olds. Another person on RUclips with horses goes through the same thing all the time too, and especially when she goes to auctions. And she keeps on saying that she cannot just keep buying horses. She runs a business, not a horse rescue operation. It would literally be like hoarding them. And soon she wouldn't be able to take care of them all, and would have to sell them. Then ALL of them would be in dire straits! Including her and her family! There a lot of reasons why people go to auctions besides buying horses. One of them is that horse people need to be around other horse people, to keep learning, because books and videos are not the same as being around other people and their horses. To keep learning you need all of those things. And to see new things that come around and to discuss them, and to look at equipment, and maybe buy used equipment. But those people don't get that. I swear that people today are worse than infantile in most cases. Or at least the ones here on YT. But many of those people who bug them are teenage girls with far less brains than I had at 14 or 16. When I was ten, I already knew about what might hurt people's feelings, but they just don't seem to care. Obviously you do care. So I'm so glad you spoke up too! You seem like a good person C Muir. All the best to you! From Canada.
But would you pay for all the food, and regular vet care, and foot care, and teeth care, and how do you even know he's healthy? That would quintuple the vet care, at at least $300 an hour, plus medications. And what about all the extra time, are you willing to put that in too, for years on end, until he dies? I very much doubt it. You'd want your mummy and daddy to buy him for you, and after 2 years you'd leave, and leave him behind. You'd just say he's not your problem anymore. Oh sure you'd miss him, but you'd move on anyway. Typical. I pity JR and Emery. They have hundreds of teenage girls bugging them. None of whom have a clue what it takes to take care of a farm and a family of 5. They have already rescued 3 horses in the less than 6 months! You people need to get off their backs!
Awww! I wish you’d had a chance to get that Jack donkey! He seemed awfully nice!

Half the people at auctions are liars. Never trust that they'll bid as they say they will. Be prepared to bid for yourself, EVERY TIME.
Agreed. Although I’ll go so far as to say more than 75% are liars especially in the auction environment.
Man, $150 only, I would buy him on a spot, he has such great character for a donkey.😢
Love Oliver and he looks so good!
Did ya get your friend with the big Ears , AHH BUDDY he'll come running💚🤠🤠
Oh no...can't you find out were he went 😢....
