- This is a demo of the Hudson Electronics Broadcast preamp pedal, in which I have dialed in a number of tones and just played some music!
It's the first demo video like this that I've made, so please bear that in mind.
The pedal is very enjoyable to play and can be quite inspiring. It will be interesting to see how well it works in a live setting.
I’ve watched a lot of Broadcast demos. This is the one that got me to buy one. Killer playing.
High praise indeed, thank you very much
I should add, now that I’ve had my Broadcast, this is literally the only demo that accurately demonstrates this pedal. There’s a lot of nuance to the Broadcast, not just fuzzy distortion. And I think it excels into dirtier amps rather than pristine 60s Fender clean amps.
I know exactly what you mean about not finding videos showcasing the Broadcast in the way you wanted to hear it. You gave the exact tones I was looking for - good job mate, would love to see more of these.
Thank you so much, really appreciate that!
You know what you're doing on a guitar, that's for sure! Great playing and great tones out of that pedal.
Great video, playing, tones, camera work, all of it. Also your calmness compared to most other channels is refreshing
That's very kind, thank you!
@@jacob_houghtonhi, when doing this demo was internal trim pots in “factory default” settings?
Very tasteful playing. You have a Richard Thompson meets John Scofield vibe going on. Very nice indeed.
I'll take that! Thank you, that's very kind of you to say. Two people whom I admire very much.
I am your target audience. Immediately subscribed. Great playing. Amazing tone.
Thank you very much!
Jacob, thanks for the inspiration! I have a Hudson Broadcast too and it's nice to see someone else getting a lot of different tones out of it with different setups. Your playing really helped too, exceptional!
That's very kind of you to say, thank you!
Absolutely super demo ..started a search for some appraisals of this unit and fortunately found yours ...best by far ..great playing and even better demo ..thank-you.
Man. Your study of the guitar is smpressive!! That Jeff Beck vibe with the strat got me with all the feels!
You're right. The other demos I've seen hardly do the Broadcast any justice -- people seem fond of it blowing raspberries, while I don't even care too much for it as a fuzz. Your demo is very good because you're a more sophisticated player who's willing and able to use the pedal creatively to unlock its full potential. I'm amazed at how crisp the Broadcast can sound at lower gain levels.
Dude!! Exactly what i needed. That is how to test the broadcast. Now i can buy one . Thank you !
Very good playing,sound amazing!
Nice tones and playing. Thank you for (your first!) post. I had a Broadcast too with an AC15 then a Supro Saturn. It really is a nice pedal but took me a long time to pluck up the courage to try it as lots of the other RUclips demos really misrepresent it with the console and broken fuzz tones. I especially liked mine at 24 volts. Thanks again and don’t hold back from a little bit of talking in your future videos 👍🏻
Thanks very much! After playing with it for a few months now, I like it a lot for making the amp sound like it's turned up and naturally distorting
Stunning playing !
Thank you very much!
Dude this was such an awesome demo! New subscriber here 🙌🏼
Thanks so much!
Exquisite playing and video! Just got a new subscriber :) my Hudson broadcast dual switch in the same color arrives later this week. Can’t wait!
Thanks! You'll enjoy it
awesome playing, love it. like a young john so field jr.
Good demo. Good 335, good amp, good pedal. Cheers mate. 😁👍
Outstanding demo, Jacob. You just earned another subscriber and probably sold another Broadcast for Hudson! I've been on the fence about this pedal because I hadn't seen many demos executed with the kind of tasteful and nuanced playing that you used. Out of curiosity, what voltage were you using? Also, did you alter the internal gain trim pots at all? The high gain side sounded slightly tamer than I've heard elsewhere. Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thanks for your kind words! This version only runs at 9v I believe, and for this demo I hadn't touched the trim pots so they are set at minimum on gain 1 and maximum on gain 2. Since recording this I turned down the gain 2 which made it more useable - I don't go for the searing fuzz sounds. There's definitely a lot of range available, you can find the sweet spot that works for you.
Love the Scofield arrangement! Has a bit of a Wayne Krantz vibe too.
Tone to die for on that solo bit at the intro :D
Thank you very much!
For someone with such an awesome voice you sure don’t talk much. Great video , thanks for showing it in a mix with different guitars
Love the playing buddy. Sick.
Thanks very much!
Great playing, really refreshing.
Thank you!
Great video and great playing! I have one order 👍🏻
Excellent job, thank you !
That lick right at 07:04 has me transported to a Phish concert. 😎🎸
Jacob you have a great touch and sound, just wandering what mic are you using to record and how you recording sound and video? what patch cables did you find to be reliable for your boards ? Cheers mate from San Diego Tony
Thanks so much man! This was exactly the demo I was looking for with this pedal. Your playing really gives it justice too!
Btw, is it a pedal you still use or did you find it didn't suit your style after a while?
Thank you! I do use it, it's not on my main board but sometimes its low gain tones are just the sound I'm looking for
@@jacob_houghton Thanks for the reply! Glad to hear you still have an application for it. I'm definitely considering buying one, just a matter of finding one in my area
I'm you 151st subscriber. Better make more videos like these!!!
Hey Jacob, your video is really good! Beautiful sound, beautiful light!
Where did you get those drum tracks from ???
Keep going !
Thank you very much, I appreciate that! My friend programmed the drums for me, using Addictive Drums I believe
Those tones tho 🔥
Perfect demo. Jeez. Your playing and scale choice is very similar to Phil Aelony
Thank you for doing this with a humbucker guitar!
Hey Jacob! Just stumbled on your channel and love your playing. Coincidentally enough i've got a broadcast, Supro Coronado 2x10, and Heritage H-535 as well. Would you mind sharing some of the amp settings you've got running on the Supro throughout the demo?
Hi Dylan, thank you I appreciate that! What a coincidence, you must have good taste. Because the supro is so simple I hardly think about the settings - would have probably been just into channel 2, with the tone knob about 1 o'clock and the volume just barely up, very quiet. Thanks for watching!
I'm guessing it's an overdrive pedal?
Shit mate. Most demos are bollocks blues soloing FOR EVER. Thankyou from the heart of my bottom (?) for just playing with a little more panache, and solid rhythm type stuffs too!
Haha thanks! Is it not the whole point of all this to try and make good music?
Scofield in a box....nice!
god, it sounds so freaking good. can anyone make chords of this, please? never ever tried to play jazz before...(((
Lovely semi-holow guitar, mate. What is it?
Thank you, it's a Heritage H-535
Very nice sir! What was the vibe pedal?
Thank you! Do you mean at the very end of the Sco tune? That was actually my DOD analog delay pedal - the modulation comes from that.
@@jacob_houghton yes.. beautiful sounds Jacob.
Yes man!
Ahah, had no clue I had already commented.
Subed, play bro!
4.50 is a very Jeff Beck sounding tone
You, sir, know how to play!
You sir really brightened my day with your comment! Thank you!
