I own a hand brazed by Tom Ritchey road bike. Last year he hand built himself 1992. Unlike Tom I keep my bike in top shape. Ultregra 600 STI. The only thing I changed is the wheels. installed Nuevation aero wheels. So pleased I was able to purchase.. love the ride. Bike is much faster than I am.. keeps me happy in the off season just waiting to get back in the saddle. Thank You Tom
That was an awesome interview Dave. Could listen to Tom and his stories for ages. Was that Andy Hampsten & Eric Heiden in a couple of those group shots?
The “Ritchey school model” should be implemented in more high schools! My high school found out I was good at building and fixing things, so they pulled me out of less important classes to fix things around the school and building the sets for school plays. The faculty knew then I was going to be an engineer, so they didn’t want to waste my time with unnecessary course work.
That's awesome. My partner is a teacher and she sees so many kids fall by the way side because the system doesn't allow them to do more of what they're good at. There's a few different schools here in France that kind of do it but very very few and I'm sure they're not fully funded by the government.
David Everett, my experience was completely “under the table.” My class alone had 400 students, and I was the only one they allowed to do what I did. It helped that I slept through my physics class and still had one of the highest grades. My grades weren’t as good in English class. I did find out I had an eye disability that makes it hard to read later in life.

That was an awesome interview. I'd have been upset if someone else had done than "Shoddy." Two real "characters." good show!!
We have a bike in the garage called Ritchey Mountain Bike but it doesn’t get ridden much. Light bike for a steel machine with 3x7 gearing.

I could listen for ages too. He sure can chat. And man does he have some mega stories.
What a great and yet humble person. One of the living legends in the cycling industry
Shoody or Tom? ;)
Those Logic frames just hum over tarmac. Ritchey bikes are so much like the man himself, unassuming yet beyond capable.

Great interview!
Thanks. Expect more. 👍
A P23 is still a bucket list bike for me 😁
Can we have an unedited version please
The audio is even worse on the full version. It took me a good while to tidy this short segment up. Glad you enjoyed it.
@@DavidEverettshoddycycling in all fairness the audio was fine so job well done 😁
Legend.
He sure is.
It’s the 10,000 hour rule...like all the other genius’s of his time - practice, practice, practice ...
Starting at such an early age I bet he got that 10,000 the mark before he was out of highschool.
