What kind of memory tricks that you learned from Psych do you use to memorize vocabulary? Because for me, the hardest part is remembering new words. What I do is draw a little picture in my notebook for each new word that reminds me of an English word. So like '문' sounds like 'moon,' so I drew a picture of the moon, then a door (the definition.) But this doesn't always work so I was curious if you have any methods? Also howtostudykorean is great, I'm on lesson 38 :D
Well, I just write each words with an example. Like 가유나 Kang Yoona ) I wrote " ㄱ " = k/g , "ㅏ" = a ,etc... I wrote all of hangul words, read it ( vocabulary ) then make some example. And I keep on with that method for a day...and I did it. I could read some simple hangul. I read example that the real korean made it. I watch the korean speaking lesson on youtube...and now, I can read and rwite hangul faster than the first time i did !
That sounds like it would confuse you more than anything... just because 문 sounds like moon you draw a moon? You shouldn't remember pronunciation in this way as it would imply that you'd have to remember the pronunciation of every single Korean word, which is impractical. Just learn Hangul my dude. Takes 1 week maximum. That way you'll be able to sound things out, which is probably the way you learned how to pronunciate in your native language. For vocabulary, drawing picture is fine, but you shouldn't mix it with pronunciation. That idea seems horribly misguided.
@@FSM_Soleran No no I mean I can read 한글 just fine, I was just saying that's my little method of memorizing words until I get them stuck in my head. I use those drawings to have some kind of connection to English so I can understand the meaning of a word when I read it or hear it. Then, after using that word a certain amount of times, it just sticks and I can recognize the Korean word itself and immediately understand the meaning without having to think much about it.
@@mebrureay2056 Did you use Google translate? Because in the first sentence you use plain form, then follow with formal. I highly discourage using google translate to make sentences. You can use it to listen to the pronunciation though.

I've wanted to learn Korean forever because I'm an avid kdrama fan & because of Bigbang. Thanks to your video because it motivated me again to start learning.
Yess to that intro! Nothing wrong with learning korean for kpop. I want to learn 5 languages (I know 3) so I don't understand why people look down on me for learning Korean too :/
y u sad me too :( I get bullied for that. Like it’s just a language and Kpop is just a genre. Just because it is getting more recognized doesn’t mean it’s overrated. It just means it’s being more appreciated for its talent
Hello there, I love your videos. I am a native Lithuanian speaker, but I never stopped learning different languages also. When I was in second grade I learned English, then in my sixth grade, I learned Russian. But the best part about languages for me is that I self-taught myself 5 languages. Korean, Spanish, Norwegian, French and sign language. And seeing you talking Korean makes me really really happy about that. Keep up with it!
I'm also leaning Korean partiality for K-pop (SJ ELF here!!) But I also want to watch the dramas without subs. Thank you so much for this video. I was doing so much learning I needed to find a way to organize it all this was perfect

Its been almost 2 years since i started learning korean and ive had the most fun time learning on my own and making friends and learning so much about the korean culture. There's nothing wrong with learning korean because of kpop or kdramas. Even if you want to learn a language just to get married to a person from that country that youre learning the language from thats ok too. The point is that youre motivated to broaden your horizons rather than the reasons behind your motivation. so relax everyone and have fun learning the langage you love

I got into learning japanese because of anime. A bit after that, I began taking interest in the other aspects of Japan and it's other cultures which gave me even more reasons to study it.
This is the best how I study my target language video I've seen so far. The videos I've seen have only shown the study routine and such, but you *actually* showed how you study. Thank you! I needed this! :)
I only started learning Korean with HowToStudyKorean about a week ago, and I'm loving it! The lessons are so in depth, and yet not to the extent that I feel thrown in at the deep end. I have not been so great at learning languages (primarily French) at school, though I do adore the language, as the many lessons I have had over the years have not been linked in with one another or consistent. HowToStudyKorean seems like its going to be incredibly useful and coherent, and hence (hopefully!) work better for me. It's great fun so far, and I hope that my enthusiasm levels remain high as I continue!
thank you! this really helped, not gonna lie, i was taking some korean notes, highlighting and decorating my korean notes, etc while you were talking! i also agree, i dont think learning a korean because of kpop is bad, i study korean because i am gonna to the bts tour in 2020 which is rescheduled as of what i heard, and i want to be able to talk to the bts members in their language, so they are most comfortable with it.

When I went to get my nails done at the mall, I was talking to my friend next to me how I wanted to learn Korean and the lady doing my nails said don't learn Korean if you just like K-pop. But I just don't want to learn Korean for the idols I want understand and help people who don't speak English. It makes me frustrated and sad how people assume why you want to learn a new language. can anyone else relate?
Around this week I started focusing more on korean and made it a daily thing (because my schools cancelled due to coronavirus) and learned korean for an hour each day. I write down notes and have noticed within 3-4 days I improved alot. Before this week I was really hesitant on believing I would become fluent but now Im positive one day I will be. I learn from Korean Unnie videos I personally write down msot of what she says and its been really helpful
I'm so happy you made this video. Ive felt so ashamed to say that I was learning Korean. I did start learning because of kpop. Some was because I wanted to understand what my idols were saying and because I wanted to further understand the culture. Mainly I wanted to learn because.... I'm kinda ashamed to say it because I've been so insecure about my dream but.... I want to become a kpop idol. Thank you again for making this video. You boost my self confidence and motivate me to study harder 😊
I really admire your enthusiasm. As a Korean I had to study English hard for a good job. But I didn't study it that hard like you. Maybe your Korean is way better than my 30 year learning English.
i’m learning korean because it’s nice to learn a new language and because it would be nice to understand kpop, kdramas, etc. and i find the culture nice

When I clicked on your videos I hoped that you would say this site name coz this site helped me so much to learn Korean. And when you said it i knew that I wanted to watch the full video. Girl I relate so much. It's like you are telling my story when I get too excited for the grammar lessons but just not done with the vocab yet. In the first 8 lessons I went pretty fast but the vocab really lagged behind. So I now focus on doing both of them side by side.

Also your handwriting is soo pretty and I hope your journey is going well. I just started learning so it is rough but hoping to find some study buddies soon.
I remember my Math teacher once saying, the best method to solve a problem isn't the shortest or the trickiest one, but the one that would click you in the exam(or in need). It is the same, a reason which makes you learn something can not be lame. Anything that drives you is good enough.
I’ve started learning korean recently. It’s been 5 days to be exact. And the book i’m using so so so useful. It has free downloadable audio and it is also easy to learn with it. chimchim is my precious babyy it’s okay, I’m only learning too it’s just sometimes with the korean alphabet the letters don’t always romanise how you think they would
Me: dad i wanna study another language
Dad: lemme guess KOREAN?
Me: yesssss
Dad: oh ye-- DREAM ON
why is the world so CRUELLLL
U are not alone dude 😂😅😩😩
Im learning korean too and wanted to see how other people learn the language.. its so interesting to see the different styles of different person if you know what i mean:D good video (and im your 100 subscriber hehhe)
100th subscriber? Jesus she's earned so many subs rn shes at 11k @_@
Sad to say but I need to learn my own language😂 I'm Korean but I was born and raised in South Africa so learning Korean was really tough as I only spoke the language with my family. Watching this video you motivated me to try to learn more korean, thanks!
화이팅!
Eeeey, South African family🌼🌼🌼
Haha my Maltese... 😂
Like my Maltese fades away a bit since I live in the UK for bit of time, and I don’t use it. Only with family and friends on the phone, but like formal writing... 😬
My English is however also not that good, because in Malta I only used Maltese unless I really had to use English. So my English is kinda bad, and my Maltese is slowly but surely fading away.
Haha I guess I needa focus on my Maltese because it’s just my identity you know
Lol which part of SA are you based in, mabye we could link up and tackle this thing together. I speak about 3 languages including English, Northern sotho, Zulu and also I did Afrikaans in school. I’m a huge fan of Kdrama and their language really intrigued me, hence I’m in a process of learning it.
no wayy im south african thats cool !!! 화이팅!
I've wanted to learn Korean forever because I'm an avid kdrama fan & because of Bigbang. Thanks to your video because it motivated me again to start learning.
hope your studying going well!
I started learning Korea not bcs of kpop, but bcs I just felt dumb only knowing how to speak 1 language and that’s English 😂
that's so nice, hope your studying going well :)
Me too. I also felt outlanguaged by by 7 year old sister who is fluent in a number of languages
A Zey same here, I started learning Korean ‘cause I was failing learning German so I wanted to prove my self wrong
im fluent in 3 languages but i wanna learn one more
Hey that's ok even I feel dumb that my friend speaks 6 languages and I speak only about 4 to 5......I feel you....completely and truely
8:33 *hears a lil doggy in the backround*
''that's my brother''
ooh-
I hope that you will study Korean and grow bigger than before !! 힘내세요~~^^
Woah you're the only vlogger who I appreciate so much abt this thing on learning Korean Language.. Very detailed and organized .. You just encouraged me so much! Btw, PHL 🇵🇭 Army here! 💜
I’m actually Korean, but my friend really wants to learn Korean but the videos weren’t very helpful! I finally found the video she needs. Thank you, because I can show my friend this now!
2:32 When you're starting to learn a bit of basic Korean and you're proud because you already knew those phrases/words.
화이팅!! 나도 아미예요 😁 I’ve been studying English, but you’re much more enthusiastic than me when it comes to learning. I bet you will be good at Korean anytime soon. I was inspired by your video. Keep up the good work!
I'm Korean.
I've been studying English.
Your video inspired me to keep going.
And thank you so much for the English subtitles.
It's just very helpful.
I hope you can answer, I want to start learning korean on my own, but tbh I'm scared, has it been too difficult? Can you keep a conversation by now?
@@julianafranco6433 yes i can keep a conversation. i do feel awkward sometimes but i try to get out of my comfort zone and speak to the friends i ve made. I dont feel bad even if i make a mistake because whatever. were humans. of course i will make mistakes since korean isnt my native language. Dont be scared. You can start by talking to yourself and recording it if you are too shy. Start by learning the alphabet. And then learn some vocab WITHOUT the romanization cause your pronounciation will be much better without it and then learn some basic grammar and make sentences out of that. You can do it!!
@@Erika-pq7ip thank you so much, I didn't think you'd reply but actually you've made my day, I'm travelling to Korea in two years, cause I'm still too young to go by now (14 year old) and I want to be able to atleast keep a conversation by that time, I know it's hard but I'm gonna try my hardest
Thank you really
I'm also studying korean through that website! When I found it, I didn't look for another website anymore because I love how the lessons are presented and it's quite comprehensive already. It is really the best one for me
we have the same reason lol,i started learning korean because of kpop and BTS 하하하하
Yeah me too 😂❤️
The Bliss Bean No probs unnie!!expect a support from us!!!!💜
Minji민기 Me toooo
Same. My reasons have evolved, but bts and kpop started it all
I teach Korean at my channel. I try to use examples from Kpop or Kdrama. Please come to my channel and let’s study together!!❤️
I think you are doing an amazing job with self-studying! I started learning korean when I was studying abroad in Seoul, with university classes, textbooks and professors. Now that I'm back in the US I have to figure out how to continue studying on my own. I feel like there are so many language learning apps rn that are pretty bullshit tbh, but it's so great you noticed that you weren't learning the key grammar points and just memorizing words. These apps are really scamming people who don't understand that.
When she said I am learning because of K-pop hit me hard.... I am learning Korean for the same BTS....
Just saw this video and it inspired me to relearn my parent’s native language during the quarantine. Thank you so much!
This was sooo useful!! Omg, I srsly watched sooo many videos about learning and studying korean but those never really were helpful for me.. until now (bcs of your video) hahaha, so thank you so much!!
Literally have watched this 5 times already as I am setting up my notebook and everything this video gave me so much motivation
U R MY QUEEN OMG I'M TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR MOTIVATION FOR LEARNING LANGUAGES LIKE ANY LANGUAGES OMG
For me LingoDeer is the way to go, it explains to you the sentences of the lesson you're learning and the background on why people use it like that.
I'm learning English and I accidentally clicked on this video, and now I see the way you're learning by yourself another language, to be honest I wanted to know your notebook studies, and I'm so glad and thankful to did it. Thank you so much for your advices and for share your tips! By the way I'm a new subscriber! ☺️
I would recommend using quizlet for flash cards it works really well!
The Bliss Bean yeah it really does help 😊
i clicked on one korean learning tips video, and now i’m completely hooked i- guess who’s gonna start learning korean now 😳
I am also learning Korean language because of k-pop (BTS) (BLACKPINK) , And I am interested in the culture of Korea.
Me too!
This is my first video from you and I gotta admit It's just satisfying to listen to you speaking.I really enjoyed, thanks :)
Army! 💜💜💜 I'm also learning Korean bc of BTS and Kdramas. Whatever gets you interested
Same, lets do our best💜
Same
So good how you studies at your own pace. I was plunged into korea when I was young and I had to learn the language or else I can't communicate with anyone. It was the hardest but probably the most rewarding time of my life
I've been watching self study routines for about a month and haven't actually started learning anything LOL
Max10e at least you have the drive, after 2 weeks of posting this comment I have started learning :) I’m on lesson 2 LOL
@@samuel4956 you still studying?
VAATU sort of, I’m waiting till my exams are over but I’ve learned the basics.
I have to agree, How to Study Korean was such a surprise for me. It's way superior and the guy who runs it is super helpful. His pdf's arent expensive at all. I am so entranced by duolingo right now because it's helping me learn faster for some odd reason. I will also try memrise.
Omg babe I get you!, I‘m also learning korean not because of K-pop.., I‘m also learning korean because I find it interesting and I‘m trying to get to know a new culture!, and don‘t worry your pronounciaton is cute!, and I‘m sorry for my bad english writing lmao ok bye.
The Bliss Bean thank you so much!☺️🙏🏽
This is a great help! I’m currently learning Korean for my summer break. What helps me a lot for vocabs is the app Reword Korean. It’s also available for other languages if you wanna learn like Spanish, French or English.
I got into learning japanese because of anime. A bit after that, I began taking interest in the other aspects of Japan and it's other cultures which gave me even more reasons to study it.
Gross
This is the best how I study my target language video I've seen so far. The videos I've seen have only shown the study routine and such, but you *actually* showed how you study. Thank you! I needed this! :)
Her: ill only take the cards that are hard for me
Me studying for months: *takes every single card*
I am korean but i love watching other people learn it, btw i am learning english so pleass correct me if i have any mistakes.
youre good!

If i still have mistkes please tell me because i am learining
Literally how many I ARMY's must be trying to learn Korean. I mean there's me. Ofc. 😂😂
Oh, um, did u manage to still good yk, bc of covid 😭

Hi i’m Korean. As Korean, so grateful many are interested in learning Korean 💕 thank you all. Yeah. Korean is so beautiful 😍 모두 한국어의 마스터들이 되세요!! 👍👍👍 응원할게요!
Oooh we have the same learning Style: See it, Read it, Write it, Say it.
you are a life saver!! i have been looking for a good video on RUclips for inspiration on routines etc. and yours is the only one so far that has made sense and works for me as well. thankyouuuu
I have been studying Korean myself for about half a year. And as I listened '' Lithuanian" OK WHAT, what a coincidence. keep a good work!
Well I am an indian and in india most of us are bilingual like I speak both Hindi and English. And now I am learning Korean 😁
But anyways, this video is really helpful and thx for the information bc I kind of need it👌🏼😭
OMG im Lithuanian as well and I'm learning Korean too.I also study Spanish at school and use Duolingo! We are exactly the same!
You boost my self confidence and motivate me to study harder 😊
good luck!!!! you can do it
I really admire your enthusiasm. As a Korean I had to study English hard for a good job. But I didn't study it that hard like you.
Maybe your Korean is way better than my 30 year learning English.
am i the only one who doesn’t write the romanized version? I think it helps better with pronunciation
Yeah.. Romanization sucks.
i’m learning korean because it’s nice to learn a new language and because it would be nice to understand kpop, kdramas, etc. and i find the culture nice
Everyone in bts is my bias and those guys in bts made thousands of people to learn Korean
By the way I'm too a bts army 💜💜💜
I recommend you Korean Unni's videos. She explains a lot of things amazing, and for example she explains the wrintig order of the characters. I hope I helped you!💜
howtostudykorean.comis THE BEST!!!
But how do ya´ll learn the actual speaking if you don´t have anyone Korean to talk to? I can read and write everything, but when it comes to speaking I begin to stutter.
I can read and write too but i dont understand the meaning😭
@@ilovechimchim2713 That comes as you keep on learning
I really hope so. Because I hardly understand anything while hearing. Just little bits of a sentence.
Try looking for penpals.
I repeat what I hear on kdramas. But I still need work
Two takes a charm. A very helpful insight into a study regimen that looks very comprehensive yet simple.
I’ve only been learning 한글 for a few weeks now & with the tools you’ve shared I hope to be understanding & speaking 한국어 (learnt that from you, thanks) more efficiently. You’ve earned a sub 👍
What I am practicing every single day.
Dancing
Singing
Drawing
Korean
*Okay then*
Okay 안녕!
Annyeong🤠👍
When I clicked on your videos I hoped that you would say this site name coz this site helped me so much to learn Korean. And when you said it i knew that I wanted to watch the full video. Girl I relate so much. It's like you are telling my story when I get too excited for the grammar lessons but just not done with the vocab yet. In the first 8 lessons I went pretty fast but the vocab really lagged behind. So I now focus on doing both of them side by side.
I’m learning Japanese so I can watch anime without the subtitles..
bro i watched the first two minuets of this video and ive never met someone who can speak my thoughts. freaking preach sister-
I’m just learning Korean so when the teacher said what did you do in summer I’ll just say I learned Korean
한국어 공부를 정말 열심히 하고 계시네요!!! 화이팅! 응원해요!!!
You are studying Korean very hard!!! Fighting! I'm rooting for you!!!😍😍😍
I love this video because I am an organization freak when it comes to notes and so with beginning the process of learning Korean, I have been trying to figure out how I want to organize, so I adore the tips!! Also your handwriting is soo pretty and I hope your journey is going well. I just started learning so it is rough but hoping to find some study buddies soon.
I wish Korean was language class in school so that I don’t have to learn Spanish anymore.
Samme I can teach myself Spanish
I remember my Math teacher once saying, the best method to solve a problem isn't the shortest or the trickiest one, but the one that would click you in the exam(or in need).
It is the same, a reason which makes you learn something can not be lame. Anything that drives you is good enough.
GIVE ME THAT NOTEBOOK 😂
I can’t be bothered to write everything down 😬💔
I’ve started learning korean recently. It’s been 5 days to be exact. And the book i’m using so so so useful. It has free downloadable audio and it is also easy to learn with it. It teaches not only the romanization but also the sound of each 한글 character. The book’s name is “Korean From Zero!”. I really really really recommend it . I learned 한글(hangeul/hangul) in 2 days!!
omgggg I'm learning kpop mostly because of bts and lots of my friends are korean btw love your videos :)
I checked out the website and it's great! Its really in-depth and provides good examples and tables, from what I've seen so far! I'm using it from now on! Thanks!!
Everyone: omg I'm learning for BTS! ARMY!
me: so...SNSD isn't a thing anymore, is it?
Uhm technically I dont think people in the comments commenting “Bts and ARMY” care about SNSD. I dont see the problem with learning for BTS. I dont even like 2nd gen or 1st gen groups. There are more BTS solo fans than kpop fans... what did you expect?
maybe snsd fans don’t want to learn korean?😭😭😭
Fadumo Mohamed You don’t have to take it so personal. It’s not that serious
WOW! I’m new to your channel but am a beginner in. Korean. Your brain works in exactly the same way mine seems to! This is all great advice.
BTS is also the reason I'm learning Korean
im having a hard time right now meanwhile in studying korean.... and this video came on my feed.... thank you for sharing and pray for me to finish up the lesson well 🙏🙏🙏
When you realise as a Korean that you have to start studying
Trying to learn a language is so hard but so rewarding!!!
Great video, I've been using Duolingo to learn a language but my progress ia slow. I'll check out memorise maybe it will help speed up my progress. Thanks for the tip
Use lingodeer instead. That's much faster. Teaches you both the polite and informal way of talking
It’s so inspiring to see someone like me studying Korean. I’m Lithuanian but I moved to England like 4/5 years ago, I started learning Korean because of kpop (specifically BTS).
