I like how Hikage's the one to show off One for All's drawback. On the surface, you wouldn't expect his Danger Sense Quirk to interfere with OfA since it's a mental enhancement. But him saying that it still does hammers home that Deku is only one that can truly use One for All.
Huh. Didn't think of that. Good point! Even something as weak as David Shield's Quirk would cause this problem, and it's conveyed through the subtext of this scene. Nice.

He mainly uses it to make better costumes and Support Items; his intelligence is all natural, which makes it even more impressive.

So TLDR
The 4th died early because unless you have AFO or have been modified to handle multiple quirks like Gigantomachia you will live far shorter with more than one quirk. Because the amount of Quirkless people has become smaller and smaller with each passing generation, it means that Deku is likely the last OFA user as he was one of the few quirkless people in his generation and there will be such a tiny amount of quirkless people after him that picking a candidate would be too difficult. Even if there was another candidate to choose from, OFA has grown so powerful that there's no way that someone could handle it. Deku in the manga is stronger than Prime All Might and he technically isn't even using 100% of it yet.
Is this confirmed in the manga? Or is it an assumption that Deku is already stronger than AM?

@@dragoncat5767 yeah but even with 60% of OFA he was able to surpass All Might's Prime using Fajin. Remember that Deku has had OFA for a single year at this point so he is nowhere near his peak power as he hasn't had much time to stockpile more power. When he reaches his prime (assuming he doesn't lose OFA at the end of the series like I think is going to happen) he'll be unstoppable.

Imagine if All For One did manage to steal One for All... Only for the quirk to be too strong to handle and process that it literally ripped the Demon Lord from the inside out.
From what it seems like, that might be the only way to really defeat All For One, ALL MIGHT himself put a hole through his skull and I'm sure the others must've done something similar but he just comes back

I think AFO body was made to hold a lot of quirks so I don't think OFA would kill him sadly if he took it
If Night Eye knows this, he wouldnt hesitate to call Midoriya as the true successor of All Might.
That’s assuming that Nighteye wouldn’t ignore the information because of confirmation bias and his own views
If Quirks work like gentics, wouldnt that mean that Midoriya has a good chance of having a Quirkless child? Or at least higer than normal?
Quirks are dominant gene, his case is special.
I think quirks are dominant now but lately the rare case of quirkless also reappear
Both of his parents are people with quirks but he is quirk less that means he is indeed a special case of a recessive gene
I’d guess also that because the quirk gene is a dominant gene and so much people have a homozygous quirk gene, even if deku did have a kid it would have some kind of quirk gene. In this case, deku just got really lucky and like one of the other people in here said, it could’ve been the result of two recessive genes that made deku quirkless.
If being quirkless can die out, quirks do not work like dominant genes at all.
Take the genes for red hair for example. Since red hair is a recessive gene, you will only have red hair if you inherited the gene from both your parents. It would theoretically be possible to make red heir disappear for a few generations by killing everyone with red hair. But there are still many carriers of the gene, so red hair would reappear within a single generation, although rarer than before.
That means if being quirkless can die out, it works completely different from genetics as we know them.
If someone had their quirk stolen or erased wonder if they could use OFA also. (In the movie when Midoriya tried to give it to Bakugo guess it would have been detrimental for him later if it was completed)
Doesnt class B already copy OFA once? OFA is a stock pilling quirk so it doesnt do anything.
One for all can't be taken by force, at least not for now, but it can be copied. The thing about Monoma is he only copies the quirk in his initial form, and since OFA is an accumulation quirk, he just takes a "blank"

They all die young cause since they already have a quirk it’s to much in their body whilst all might and deku can use it and not die young or have as much trouble because they did not have a quirk to begin with
IT like filling a glass that is already full. So using one for all in a quirk user can kill or drain the life out of the user. If this is passed to a quirkless person, the person has less burden to the life of one for all inheritance. Mirko would be dead by now if All might transfer his quirk to Matter faze guy .

@@Breadwalker765 Its just sorten the life span of the quick user. The more you get older the more your cell regenerate slow. Because of one for all quick its like killing yourself because of old age like the 3 third user of one for all

@@STH151NicoleFan he means if the quirk is absolutely useless then it has no physical drawbacks. for example, OFA was useless because it did nothing but get passed on to others. only by absorbing the power accumulation quirk given to Yoichi by AFO did it gain any usefulness at all.

While interesting, I feel that this addition takes away from the facts that almost anyone could have inherited OFA.
Before the quirk almost felt like a spider man spider bite situation, but now it feels like a chosen one situation, which isn’t bad, but I feel like it limits the quirk as a concept

One for all is,in a sense, a ticking time bomb in the form of ever-growing powerful sword. Its a weapon with an ultimate purpose, but using it without enough resistant to it present a great risk. So, overtime, with power continuing to accumulate in it, the user must let it achieve it's purpose to slay the demon lord,once and for all before its too late,before the power destroys the user itself....

0:32-AFO and Machia having multiple quirks won't it affect them the same? I know AFO has a longevity quirk due to the doctor but still.
AFO has a immortal quirk as well or something that helps him not to de-age as fast plus AFO quirk pretty much also helps him with that since his quirk is the ability to take and give quirks, but of course there is a limit. As for Machia idk because idk know how long he's been around.
@@spotsquad8879 With Machia is was more on the fact that he can handle multiple quirks in his body because of genetics, if you know the games of resident evil think of Machia as being one of the test subjects that manage to become a Tyrant because of his genetics, so the doctor and AFO were lucky to find him and also to become someone so loyal to them XD.
With AFO I see it more like some side effect of his quirk that allows it to hold multiple quirks, if you remember with Nine when the doctor experimented transferring a discount copy afo quirk it allows him to hold 9 quirks in his body, while although the copy AFO has now doesn't has that low limit it still allows him to hold who knows how many, and the original all for one quirk is mega broken that thing could have like hundreds or maybe even thousands of quirks.
Machia not only has genetics, he also was modified to store more quirks

To answer your question, You have Ragdoll, She just become quirkless ,The problem here is that OFA is becoming way and way stronger that might get so strong that even with proper training ,the body of the user won't be able to handle such ammount of power and die,Plus most of those Afo victims,Some of them give their quirk bcs they didn't want it,So i don't think they would even want to have another one

During Overhaul arc, on the back of my mind, I know in my heart that Mirio should have OFA. Good thing that didn't happen as he's one of my fav characters.
Mirio showed us all why he was the original candidate for OFA in that arc. Dude was a beast despite having a relatively weaker quirk.
Every quirk have their limits and drawbacks you can see that whit every character of MHA even if some quirk are more stronger than others they have a nasty drawback

20% at deku's time, by the time he is ready to pass on the quirk to a new generation, that new generation will be an even smaller amount, then finding someone who can actually weild OFA like the user should makes the margin even slimmer. not to mention the power compiling aspect of the quirk will be too much for anyone to handle after deku who can bearly handle it as it is.

Aging is a natural degradation of the body, so gaining a healing quirk would only aid in recovery from injuries, not from the ever creeping weakness of One For All

Thing is, he's quirkless technically speaking. Which is why the quirks don't strain him. He and All Might are like empty glasses which is why, OFA didn't strain them. They were an empty vessel with space to spare. Fill a half empty vessel and the contents spill over.

OFA is not artificial. It was present in its first user iirc it just didn't do anything. The point is the quirk is becoming likely too strong for a potential successor to handle

If OFA was only passes on to quirkless, then it would be just a jumble to organized mass of memories that'll help the current user.
But if it's a conglomeration of Quirks, then I agree, too much power in one place. You would have another AFO.
@@lumberluc You are forgetting that the physical strenght of each user is being stacked/added in too... Thats why the quirks got stronger and why a next user wont be able to handle it... Deku can handle it but only barely, his body did break from it too... Imagine what would happen to the next user if he passes it down, since Deku is increasing/expanding the power of OFA too (• ▽ •;)

Deku will be 9 men strong, even withouth black whip or fa-jin or gear shift, Dekus 100% would already be stronger than All Mights, because all mights power got stacked in there too :D
Another thing to note is that we dont exactly know how the power grows... If for example, every user is adding the strength of a well trained normal human being (exept for the extra bonuses of the quirks, which too increase), or if the users base strenght is where the previous user left it and they start building it from there, in comparison to the base strenght and growth potential of a normal human being (would change the percentage a lot), or if every gain of strength is counted seperately (would enable surpassing muscle limit for storing power. Since muscles weaken when you stop, and when you train again they grow but stop at a limit. But already stored power wont be eraseed from OFA, so every time you train it is growing) and if there is any default extra boost from the quirks to the normal limits of a human (which could maybe calculated seperately too, with the growth of the quirks individually) ┐(‘～`;)┌

Everybody loves the "chosen one" trope in one way or another because we all "special" right? Or rather you are the only one when the rest is not, you are the different one. It's one of the reasons I don't watch anime anymore because they use it way too much
@@deathrisen6617 I really liked Deku as protagonist because he was the least qualified for the job so even with the One For All he had to be always improving to shorten the distance between him and the others but then the author decided to give him a ton of new powers(while the One For All by itself was already the strongest one)
