Art Nouveau? YES PLEASE! You must have a patience of a saint to get all the details in. Your result is totally worth it though, the hair is so beautiful.
This is a well-made video. I'm a graphic designer, but always open to learning more about drawing. I've been looking for a formulaic way to make curves like the ones used in Mucha's hair drawings and border elements. This is not exactly what I came for, but there were plenty of helpful tips.
I just discovered art nouveau recently and fell in love with it. Now I want to begin to study and try out the style my self. Your video helped me a lot to understand the technique more. Thank you🖒
Thank you so much! 💜 I wonder if I learned about Art Nouveau and Alphonse Mucha from you, then? I learned about it as a teen and there weren't a ton of artists online replicating the style at the time.
You may have, I have always been such a fan of the style in all the elements, decor, fabrics...etc. I didn't use the style in my own decor very much because it didn't suit the age and style of the house. You have to remember that original art nouveau didn't use computer graphic programs...I think it is so cool that you can use modern techniques to replicate the style.
Yeah, I think you'd need a much bigger house to suit the Art Nouveau style! It could feel really heavy and claustrophobic otherwise, I think. I'm sure Art Nouveau would be expensive for decor anyway, unless you're using cheap knockoff Tiffany lamps and can do woodworking yourself.
Yep, I understand! A lot of Art Nouveau interior design can feel super busy. The art though! So beautiful. I could've made this whole video just about the movement and its history but I knew I needed to rein it in.
Wow thank you for sharing! One question: do you draw in procreate and then print and then paint with a brush? I watched another video where you actually paint a piece, new follower problems haha 😎
A small correction: it wasn’t Job cigarettes, but Job (pronounced ‘jobe’) cigarette rolling papers, as pre-rolled cigarettes weren’t a thing at the time. There’s also a little fact in that it started as the initials ‘JB’ separated by a diamond which the public took to be a stylised O, so it became Job. I enjoyed this video, it’s really quite helpful :)
I really enjoyed your video. I really love the art nouveau movement. I don't know if it's because I'm a guy but I'm having trouble drawing a female face. I appreciate your video it motivated me to keep going and pushing my artwork. Thank you. J
Thank you so much! 💜 I hope you do try it out. It's honestly really fun to do, even if it seems tedious. I'll look forward to possibly seeing it from you in the future!
A4man Artist Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoy my channel! Yeah, I'm tempted to do an "old deviantArt tour" video one day because it is pretty scary in my old accounts!
Thanks! I literally just discovered Mucha, because I thought it looked similar to art on a video game called "Dragon Age Inquisition," anyway thanks, I'm gonna start trying this art style.
As someone drawing on their phone I cannot express how painful it is to try and juggle layers... Great tutorial btw, I was having a hard time visualizing how to draw this type of hair and this really helped.
Why would you do all that hair erasing when it could be possible to simply change the stroke of the purple 'fill' hair? Would fix the whole work into uniform thickness in a single click on all required lines.
Mucha is one of my favorite artists. If you're into Art Noveau you'd be really happy in Vienna, that stuff is all over the place over here.
He was so amazing! I'd love to see Vienna some day for that reason. 😊

Oto Kano Thank you so much! 💜 It does become calming after you get into the groove, and the result is just too nice!
I'm a big fan of Mucha, so this is great information

I’m glad I found this. I was really wanting to learn this.
Your erasing patience is amazing, I would just take the vector ereaser and lazy my way through the drawing.
Achatfell Thank you! Yeah, having a vector app on my iPad would make life so much easier. Hopefully one day there's a decent one!
Beautiful, I have always been a fan of all things "art nouveau"...watching you draw has such an hypnotic effect. Loved this video❣️

I like the woodwork and the fabric designs best, would have skipped the tiffany lamps as they are a bit too busy for me.

oooh not DIGITAL art again! ... what do I have to put in the search bar to EXCLUDE all the digital stuff - do you know??
put “traditional art” in your search, maybe it'll help
