I bought SS bracelet with the gold central links and fitted it to my green Seiko Alpinist. It sets the watch off like nothing else. Good recommendation and a good buy.
For the right travel adventure, taking the Alpinist with three straps - SS, two-tone, and a nice brown one (not the stock) - offers incredible versatility! It's like bringing $4000 worth of watches for a fraction of the travel risk - and the satisfaction of being so clever.
7:11...SOLD! Damnit! I have had my Alpinist on a distressed brown leather strap and I thought that was the ultimate look for it as it's an adventurist type of watch but with that bracelet it transforms into a brunch or evening out kind of watch.
The Alpinist is a classic tool watch...blinging it up is downright crazy. Too good to mess with. Over eggs the pudding and detracts from the beauty of the watch face.
I know everyone is badmouthing the sarb017 original strap- for many good reasons, indeed. And my initial reaction when I first put it on was horrendous.,it actually was painful... but since I had experience with the 🐊 leather- I’ve “worn” it a bit. Wiggled it back and forth with my hands for a few minutes at a time for a couple of days- and it worked. I really happy about it because I think looks wise the original is spot on. It is now comfortable and not very noticeable on the wrist.
That two-tone Jubilee is fantastic! Also, I learned something new today, as I usually do with your videos. Your spring bar tool is much better quality than mine, and less likely to scratch the lugs. I’m going to order a new one today!👍
Thanks for saying it, Marc. I always felt like the alpinist was very smooth bezel DJ-like, especially on bracelet. I wish Seiko would have introduced more color options like you can get with a DJ.
Both are awesome. I love the look of the two tone clasp, but desk swirls happen in minutes on my wrist. A Scotchbrite Pad would destroy that gold plating in seconds. SS clasp only on my wrist. Great products and video. Thank you Marc!
Anyone else have trouble with the Strapcode spring bars ? (oyster on Alpinist) .. like I wanted to use them as they looked & felt super-beefy.. but couldn't get them on for the life of me - as if they were too thick.. (?) (bars that came with the watch worked fine) Aside from that, Kudos Marc for putting the time into these ! Really appreciate it. The Alpinist on Oyster Strapcode has definitely been getting the most wrist-time out of my collection.. love it ! Want to call it the "Legolas" as it looks like MiddleEarth Elves crafted it. Cheers
For anyone buying a strapcode bracelet - I have three. The one with that so-called "Submariner clasp" is easily my favorite clasp type. I have super engineer in brushed steel, so no two-tone scratch issues. If you are not buying the shiny two-tone, the extra $20. or so for the nicer clasp is totally worth it. YMMV - my 2 cents and all that...
The perfect upgrade?, I own a SARB017 but I planned to lock it away for the next 10-20 years and see what it's worth. The main reason for not wearing it is the 38mm case size and the leather strap, maybe a strap change could persuade me to wear it.
2:50 --> the 7 o'clock springbar actually is not locked in place. Always check if the springbar is still compressed because you haven't hit the lug hole 100%.
Yeah, that move really vexes me. Seems like a model that tends to move regularly, and it's not like Seiko made some sort of replacement model for this, so I'm at a loss.
I think people are either going to love or hate this one. I really don’t like the combo and think it looks a lot better on the original brown strap. Thanks for sharing though!
Pretty cool bracelet though not really for me. I'm happy with the super oyster that's currently on my alpinist- gives it a classy yet understated look. This two tone might need some ability to carry off !
Just ordered this from strapcode! Can’t wait for it to come in. I got the full circle gold plated version. Sadly I ordered the all silver from mark Long Island Watches before I new this one was coming out. May just keep them both to alternate them.
This mod looks God Tier in the words of Nico!! I would love to see the new Alpinist on a president bracelet + the fluted bezel (Gold) that would be a datejust killer!!!
Dang it. I've never liked this watch until seeing it on this bracelet. It seems like Seiko could learn a lot about improving their watches with better bracelets.
Thanks for the video, Marc. Just got mine today. Its great! I was thinking of doing a video, since none existed with the two tone one, you beat me to it :). The two tone complements the dial so well...absolutely love it, well done, Strapcode! My only gripe: they should have included a mini screwdriver since the bracelet cost more than $120, it would’ve been nice....I didn’t have my mini screw driver set, so had to take it to a shop to get it sized for $10... ah well, it’s worth it...
Intellectually I can see the appeal...... but I can’t do it. I believe I bough the angus jubilee for my Alpinist after your last video. Btw you are so right about the polished center line on the clasp being a scratch magnet. I have 3 Strapcode bracelets with three diff clasps and recommend the clasp on the watch.
I also bought the SS Angus from Marc after watching that video. I absolutely love it with that strap. My dad would probably enjoy this jubilee but I can't pull off the two tone.
So funny. It's feeling like the first day of fall and so I was just about to take the army green NATO strap off my Alpinist that I use in the summer and put on the leather strap I use in fall/winter. Now I see this and I'm saying, Damn, that's nice. But I'm sticking with the leather. It's a brown, buffalo-pattern, German leather strap I got from Holben, and I really dig it on the Alpinist. The two-tone Jube gets filed for the future, though.
I'm cleaning out my apartment a couple of weeks ago and I found a beautiful Seiko that was given to me by my mother it has like a gold tone face how can I get the original band it's probably mid-70s I tried on eBay but the band they sent me was a Seiko but it was too small what do you suggest
Hey not sure where to go but thought id ask here as you seem knowledgeable on watches. I have a Seiko SRX010 Velatura Blue/rose gold with a blue leather strap. Recently the strap broke and i can't seem to find a replacement anywhere as it is discontinued any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm UK based so i guess anywhere online if possible. Thanks
Like the angus but would the extra long first link create an undesirable look on dainty 6.25” wrists? Watch newbie here and digging all these LIW videos.
I am still recovering lost spring bars usually near the skirting board that just show up from time to time.I have not the steadiest of hands and a short temper! Don't ever ask me to give you a tattoo?
I have both and the oyster is better for me. The jubilee looks better but the end links come further on the jubilee and thus it doesnt fit my wrist as well.
Your right. That bracelet makes it stunning, but I must ask did you upgrade your camera? It looks like 4k. I can't tell whether the watch looks that good, or if it always looked great and I just couldn't see it! Thanks for the video!
Purchase a two tone jubilee from strapcode to save little money instead of long Island was a mistake. Received a defect bracelet with dings and their customer service team is abysmal. Should've just paid extra and buy from marc in the future. Not worth the hassle with their customer service team.
I bought this bracelet directly from Strapcode but it has two different kind of endlinks, one of those sits perfectly to the watch but the another one doesn't, The second one misses one millimeter from the below and it doesn't have the lip which should sit to the watch case... and if I struggle to get it in place, it doesn't stay solidly in place but feels bad. I contacted to Strapcode but they said that they are not different endlinks but instead the Alpinist cases are so different that they have decided to use slightly different kind of endlinks. Marc, have you checked your endlinks if you have also diffent kinds of?
They replied me like this: "Regarding your queries, please note that they are not two different endlinks. Since, we've found about 5-10% of our Customer reported that the curved end piece failed to fit into the case, maybe it was manufactured from different Watch production plants and caused slightly different on the mold, since, we normally use 2-3 original watch case to deployed, which may not cover the case as manufactured worldwide." Not sure if they are telling me that 5-10% of the endlinks are different or what but at least in my case I need to bend the stringbar so much that is not possible without fitting the endlink in wrong direction and then crushing it in the place... and after doing that there is still a narrow gap between the watch case and endlink and also the links doesn't stay in correct orientation. As a solution Strapcode suggested me to use different size of endlinks which is not the solution for me because I already tested that.
I prefer the plain clasp personally. I actually put the bracelet from my two-tone 16013 DJ on my Alpinist and it looks terrific. I'll probably order one of these Strapcode's though. So Marc, has your opinion about the Alpinist changed any since your review of it ? If I remember correctly you didn't seem to be too crazy about it.
what perfect timing i got my alpinist last week and a found the two tone bracelet on their site but it felt so janky i opted out of getting it i would rather order threw you
Hello. It looks great but the stainless steel bracelet seems to be a different colour to the watch colour and do not matches at all. I prefer the complete stainless clasp. Nice video.
Hay Marc I’ve got half a dozen automatic watches, seiko mostly. I don’t wear them I just like to look at them. Should I keep them rotating on the auto winder or leave them inactive. Do you get what I mean?
Pest Brigade If you don't wear them, don't keep them on a winder. That will just be quicker wear and tear on the movements. Auto winders are meant to be convenient for the watches you wear and rotate often so the power reserve isn't run out the next time you put it on.
Sure it's a little flashy but I wouldn't say it's "pimp" territory. A classic two tone. I prefer the first strap with the silver clasp. The gold plated clasp is over doing it.
I bought SS bracelet with the gold central links and fitted it to my green Seiko Alpinist. It sets the watch off like nothing else. Good recommendation and a good buy.
Transforms the watch's appearance by bringing the dial and hands to life.
Sure does.
For the right travel adventure, taking the Alpinist with three straps - SS, two-tone, and a nice brown one (not the stock) - offers incredible versatility! It's like bringing $4000 worth of watches for a fraction of the travel risk - and the satisfaction of being so clever.
Sam Navon Great idea!
It is an amazing upgrade. Completely transforms the watch to a new level!
Indeed; thanks!
You're creepy for some reason

RT1SB3 , you, my friend, are right.
The Alpinist is a classic tool watch...blinging it up is downright crazy.
Too good to mess with. Over eggs the pudding and detracts from the beauty of the watch face.
That's ok! Thanks for checking it out anyway.
This gives the watch a much higher class look to it . I like it
I'm not normally a fan of two tone however that strap looks superb.
I think it does; I'm a fan.
Strapcode bracelets are great. Always elevate a watch. Wish they would bring one out for the baby turtle.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
I know everyone is badmouthing the sarb017 original strap- for many good reasons, indeed. Yeah, bought the angus jubilee two tone looks fabulous, usually wear as a
dress watch and remove to wear casual with different band.
Just placed my order for this on your website ! It’s a must vs the stock strap
Thanks for saying it, Marc. I always felt like the alpinist was very smooth bezel DJ-like, especially on bracelet. I wish Seiko would have introduced more color options like you can get with a DJ.
Right on.
Both are awesome. I love the look of the two tone clasp, but desk swirls happen in minutes on my wrist. A Scotchbrite Pad would destroy that gold plating in seconds. SS clasp only on my wrist. Great products and video. Thank you Marc!
Thanks for sharing, I agree with you.

Thanks for checking it out. Never had a problem with their spring bars.
I prefer the standard SS Jubilee. This is a bit much.
Okay, thanks for watching.

That gold bracelet would not have worked had the dial not been green. Great combo
Thanks for checking it out.
My favorite combination or any watch and strap/bracelet! Beautiful! Thanks for the video!
You are welcome, thanks for watching.
You make changing to a bracelet look so easy
Once you do it a few thousand times, it is. :)

Old footage.
This might be the only two tone ive ever considered buying..
Right? It just works.
Shame on Seiko to have dismissed this jewel
Indeed.
Long Island Watch is currently in Stock at Long Island. Cmon mark you’re missing sales opportunities 😁
Yeah, that move really vexes me. Seems like a model that tends to move regularly, and it's not like Seiko made some sort of replacement model for this, so I'm at a loss.

Ditto!
I'm going to put a clear heavy duty tape over the gold on the clasp to protect it. Presto. No scratches.
Well I have to admit it's stunning, but it's an outdoor watch for heaven's sake!
Right, but now bring it indoors :)
Does this beauty work with the newer prospex version of the Alpinist as well?
I got the standard SS Jubilee from your store a few months ago and absolutely love it. I am not usually a fan of two tone... but damn that looks good.
Yeah, it does.
Mark,
Would the end links from an Alpinist bracelet work on a Squale 20 atmos?
Great watch now!
Thanks for the video, Marc. Just got mine today. Its great! I was thinking of doing a video, since none existed with the two tone one, you beat me to it :). I did this two weeks ago and bought myself one of these two tone jubilee from Strapcode, yet to install it....
Do it!
I will and will probably give the watch to my father, if he likes it. My SARB017 still in box, sealed, with that ugly leather band..
Same here: mine still has the shit strap, too. I love that Long Island sells Strapcode pieces, but apparently they are hard to keep in stock.
It arrives today I can’t wait but what size screwdriver I need?
Now it looks like some old timey gangster watch.

Hey mark when are you going to get this watch back in stock?
I like it. I like the style and especially because it is different. The flash is cool. (enjoyed the pimp and Packer comments. Very funny.)
Flash is good!
I think matching gold bezel and maybe a blue dial instead of green. Just my personal opinion though.

I can’t make up my mind on oyster or jubilee for this watch. I’m still on the fence.
I like the oyster because it's the most conservative and tool-y. That's more my lifestyle and taste.
Good choice to have; I'm a jubilee fan for this watch.
I can't believe going to say this, but for me, this watch rocks the jubilee much better.
I have both and the oyster is better for me. The jubilee looks better but the end links come further on the jubilee and thus it doesnt fit my wrist as well.

Long Island Watch great now I can buy a new display case👍🏻

Hey Mark, love your videos! A quick question about Long Island watch, do you have a discount code for us viewers of the channel? Thumbs up as usual!

Thanks for the quick reply Mark, ordered a Strapcode Hexad for my new Samurai with that 5% :)

You can buy it directly from strapcode. They have it in stock right now.
Sure it's a little flashy but I wouldn't say it's "pimp" territory. A classic two tone. I prefer the first strap with the silver clasp. The gold plated clasp is over doing it.
I think it's a classy look.
