    The level of umpiring is ridiculous. I understand the other boy is French and he must win at all costs but the umpire not seeing 30cm out is outraging!

    I have been to several Tennis Europe tournaments, watched many matches, seen many mistakes by umpires, often thought the decisions would be much better without the umpires. But those were mistakes, some very clear mistakes. This is not a mistake. This is something else. Not that easy for a 14 yo to let something like this go and focus on the game.

    There are two ways to deal with this. Flip off the umpire and get disqualified. Or argue your case to the umpire and then continue to play as you're 1 set up and 0-3 down in the 2nd. Ultimately that call doesn't really impact the outcome of the game. Bad mistake to make.
    If my kid had the *privilege* of playing at Les Petits As and then proceeded to flip off the umpire, he'd be out the game for at least a year. Clearly this isn't the first time Repakis has flipped off someone, this is learned behavior which should have been addressed earlier. Sometimes you learn the hard way. Do this in the street to bigger kids and it ends badly, learn from it.

    A very bad line call. The film and technology we have today could have sorted that out in seconds. It is very frustrating that juniors at this level are so badly treated. If there was no umpire I think the match would have benefitted. One day there will be electronic line calling as this French tournament needs to show it is impartial and it doesn’t help that the beneficiary was a French player.

    it's easy to go on the umpire. Mistakes can be made, but nothing can justify flipping off with rage. Even if the boy was right, you need to learn to keep your nerves. It's a lesson for the future. I feel bad for him, that's for sure, but the umpire was right sending him home.

    I never thought I would see the day when an umpire in tennis would make such a massive error The young player had every right to be angry, To disqualify a player for being 100% correct is utterly shameful, Yes, what he said to the umpire was naughty, BUT COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED.

    • @dakeras2410
      @dakeras2410 3 месяца назад

      No, its not. It's never justified to enter a tournament by invitation, constantly argue and abuse the umpire (Repakis was on a warning already) and then think you have the right to flip off the umpire in front of a stadium full of people because he made ONE bad line call! He also made calls in Repakis's favour. Repakis is a *kid*. Act like that on the streets and you'll see what happens.
