Hahaha this rules. Thanks for digging it guys. Lots of nods to the Rush boys. It was meant to be a tribute of sorts! We worked on it with Terry Brown, Nick Raskulinecz and David Bottrill :)
So awesome guys! Not ever hearing this, I was totally blown away. You guys did such an amazing tribute in this song. I cannot wait to react to more Crownlands. You guys ROCK!
This tribute is more than showing your love for this legendary band I think. I believe that all Rush fans, me included, will see a glimmer of hope that there will be more music of the kind we soooo love. Next time you'll perform in Montréal I'll probably be in the crowd.
Crown Lands...some of the song influences are obvious (Red Barchetta)...but someday it would be great if you reveal the secret formula of the songs that influenced the pieces of this...congrats...I think this is the best progressive rock song since early 1980s Rush...
@@oldguyreactions And it IS just 2 guys playing it LIVE, also! No added bassist, that's part of Kevin's JOB! lol Waddaya think that double Ricky is FOR anyway!! See them do it LIVE, just the two of them, right here: ruclips.net/video/U651E3ssoOI/видео.html

I'm a massive Rush fan, and I LOVE this band! I’m not offended, I love that this band are carrying the prog rock banner, and making it cooler than it ever was. God bless Canada.
Holy crap...huge Rush fan here too. I had never heard of Crown Lands (I live in the US) but was at a music festival in Victoria, BC last night. I was totally blown away by these two gentlemen.
Great reaction! Never thought I’d love another new band as much as I love Greta Van Fleet, until I discovered these guys earlier this year. And yes, it’s 2 guys live as well!! Awesome awesome stuff.
@@susanoneal7725 so jealous!! The 2 shows I went to this year they weren’t opening :( everyone seems to love them! Seeing so many posts, just a shame so many of the shows have been cancelled so not as much exposure
CL is the best thing to come along in many years! The influences and nods in their music is almost limitless...Rush, GVF, The Police, Yes, Dream Theater, Genesis, Triumph. Pagans Mind. Kansas, even Journey! Its all there. Just discovered these guys early summer and can't get enough. They f'n ROCK!!! 🤘
Just picked up their latest plus White Buffalo!! Love these guys!! May sound like RUSH but they're unique in their own right!! I wish them huge success!!!!! Keep it coming!! Oh!! Great reaction!!!
The term Crown Lands is a reference to government land in Canada and yes, you can hear the Rush influences in this song. I'd have to read the lyrics, but based on the video story I was getting vibes of 2112. Live they are only two playing as well, Kevin Comeau the guitarist/bass/keyboards will use foot pedals to play bass while playing guitar. Hmmm, sounds familiar since both Geddy and Alex also use foot pedals to multitask on stage. The lead singer/drummer Cody Bowles, vocally reminds me of Robert Plant and the dude can straight up sing. Most recently Alex shared the stage with Crown Land during a Christmas Special doing some Led Zeppelin. Dude sounds just like Plant. ruclips.net/video/x92C_2UhjT0/видео.html
I seen Crown Lands live in Oshawa in 2021 and they only have Cody and Kevin in the band with no added musicians. They do it all....very well!!!!!!!! They are amazing and sound just like they do in the video. They both are huge Rush fans. Please listen and react to The Oracle ...thanks
Kevin does play bass and guitar at the same time. He uses Taurus pedals while playing guitar. Youve got to see them live. Amazing is an understatement.
I'm from Montreal, Canada and these guys have been playing on the radio for over a year now, CHOM 97.7 to be precise. I was working when I heard this song for the first time, I just stopped and listened. What is this Rush song I never heard? I had to know. I texted the radio host and he gave me their name. I'm a fan since. New prog rock like this, of this caliber doesn't come by often and judging by the fandom of Rush there's a lot of people listening to this kind of music. Keep your eyes and ears focused on this new band, they're here to stay.
Yea, I think it is because of the entertainment factor. We love the music, but having 2 band members makes it harder to entertain. This generation is all about the entertainment. Even though there are many single artists out there, they chalk up dancers and background singers and back up bands like crazy. These guys are in the band and Rock genre. They should bring on a few more band members to light up that stage with multiple personalities. Just my opinion.
These guys opened for GVF a couple days ago in Little Rock . They blew me away . I saw them walking around the floor after their set (which was incredibly short )and wanted to tell them how much I loved their set but didn’t want to bother them
After being raised by a huge RUSH head, I went to see Greta Van Fleet in Little Rock, AR. These guys were openers and when they played I immediately recorded it and sent it to my dad.
Remember Geddy used the old looking organ pedals to switch bass loops and keyboard loops while playing just genius,in short these guys are just that what talent from 2 men hats off👏👏👏
This song is their actual hòmage to Rush. Nick Raskulinecz (Rush's last producer helped with it and even provided Cody, the drummer, with a set of Neil's drums from the Snakes and Arrows tour to use on the recording.) Their earlier songs are more blues/rock but they have gotten more progg-y. Speaking of them carrying the torch, try Right Way Back, it was recorded right after Neil passed and it's about them doing just that. ruclips.net/video/m-B2k7fFndQ/видео.html
If Gretha van Vleet can have an awasome career being a Led Zeppelin band. Than Crown Lands (what a cool typical Canadian name this is)can be one to all though also have a few more cool things.
This is almost certainly a direct musical influence from Rush's Hemispheres & Headlong flight from Clockwork Angels. This is actually pretty cool. Best Rush-esque track I ever heard is Kingdom Come by YYNOT - link here if you've never heard it before. It's uncanny. ruclips.net/video/FlvnbnLH3wU/видео.html
Unsurprisingly both band members are huge Rush fans and this brought them together in the first place. Rumor has it that one of them has the 2112 starman tattoo on his butt The first and the last Rush producers Terry Brown and Nick Raskulinecz produced many of their tracks with the latter producing this song.
You have GOT to listen to this guy called 'Dimash'. He is THE GREATEST vocalist on the planet right now (or ever). Listen to the song..."SOS" at The Slavic Bazaar. You will be blown away. Don't say I didn't warn you, this young man IS GREATNESS!!
Kudos to them for making such an incredible amount of sound with only 2 members. I wonder if they get as much flack for sounding like Rush as Greta Van Fleet gets for sounding like Led Zeppelin. Either way, I don't care. I'm just pleased as punch that this sound is making a comeback. Kudos to them for making such an incredible amount of sound with only 2 members.
Been trying to figure out where I've seen the like before, but now I remember! The singer and the guitarist were part of a mega group, (Kim Matthews band +?) singing Led Zeppelin. With, get this, Alex Lifeson as a guest guitarist! Now I've been looking for that vid. Anyway, instead of Geddy, think, Robert Plant, in his heyday, singing RUSH! Now I have to wonder if Alex had anything to do with this. P.S. Comments would suggest that the bearded fellow on the double bass is most defo Geddy inspired.

This is a tribute song to Rush, produced by one of Rush's original producers, thus the Rush inspired sound. They are also from Canada, like Rush.
Being from Canada has nothing to do with their sound. The lyrics, absolutely.
I am so glad that you like them. My nephew is the drummer/lead singer. So proud of him and Kevin and they are as amazing in a recording as they are to see them live!
So glad they've had an amazing time over here in the UK! Hopefully I can get to see them live soon!

The new album is fantastic, they should be very proud of it.

@@daboosreviews8819 oh for sure! Greta has certainly lost their cool recently… or at least for me, been having trouble being into them recently
Thanks for the introduction to this band. Love the song and your reaction.

There are VERY strong elements of Rush, Dream Theater, Yes, Genesis and even Red Rider in this! Talk about a prog mashup!!!
