- in which I update you on my wardrobe declutter. We are at the midway point and I have been decluttering my wardrobe step by step this year. Let's reassess the decluttered items from the first part of the year to decide whether I truly want to get rid of them.

Hi Maaike I don’t declutter very often and it’s just as well because I lost weight over the past year. I still had a lot of stuff in smaller sizes packed away (vacuum bags and suitcases) enabling me to get them out again (I have packed away the bigger items now). All in all I had lost over two stone so I really had gone down in size (even in my underwear 😂). I had combat trousers packed away from years ago and they are very much back this year😂.
I do get rid of items that are looking really tired/worn or need major mending beyond what would be cost effective to do. Other than that if I really don’t like something that’s going to go obviously.
I have learned that fashion goes in cycles and that most things come back around. I had waistcoats packed away and got them back out too 😂. Denim jackets or shirts never go out of style and neither do leather biker jackets. All of these just look great with a bit of age on them tbh. There is a ton of focus on vintage clothing and at 52 I have some of that as well having bought it at the time 😂. In Summer linen trousers are great every year so I have a bunch of them in various colours. Best wishes x
That is my intention with my wardrobe as well. I have plenty of items still in my wardrobe that are coming up to their 15th anniversary. Just a few more years and I'll have plenty of items that would be deemed vintage just because I have owned them for such a long time.
It's a great idea to keep things around for a while. I regret so many past declutters but it's never to late to learn 🙃
I learned this the hard way. I got rid of a men's sweater from H&M that I loved. But I didn't wear it much and I still miss it till this day.
You know that polyester can be fresh?
Hi Maaike, I'm wondering if you've ever had a color analysis/draping done or have considered it? In your make-up videos you always mention you lean more cool toned, but in clothing you also gravitate towards warm tones like mustard yellow which seems conflicting. I would be curious about your color season!
I am not interested in that as I wear what I like. I think it mainly has to with skin tone (which is more neutral toned) but my hair and eyes are brown. So I need to balance that out. Makeup and clothing to me are two different realms. I don't look good in classic 'cool toned' options like light summer or cool winter when it comes to clothes, but in makeup I love it on myself as it goes well with my skin tone. But I am definitely a blend of some autumn and winter shades if I had to guess. However, paying nearly €300 to find out isn't something really I am keen on.
