    Beautiful!......Growing up in the Mid-West, in the 1960s, in Ohio. This was a popular car in my neighborhood. My best friend's folks had this model Ford,....and as kids we used play inside of it,....dreaming of our future of driving it one day. That day never came, sadly. However, by the mid 1970s,....these cars were around, everywhere,.....gently used. My college buddy had one, and we did drive it around our college town. Even then, it was a "cool" retro ride. And we thought we were the "coolest cats", driving it and being seen, driving it. Great restoration, it looks fantastic.

    My first car at age 15 was a '60 Starliner. That was 50 years ago! Mine was red with a white top, and it had a 292 with the Ford-O-Matic. The steering wheel told me it had power steering, but it didn't work. I paid $150.00 for it.
    It was slow, and with 160k miles on the clock, it smoked a bit. I rebuilt the engine in 10th grade auto shop, and drove it through high school. When I was away at college, my brother drove it until it was stolen. Otherwise, I might still have it! This black one is VERY nice. Thanks.

    What a beauty! Sad that American cars are no longer designed for the USA; our car companies have all gone global and are now selling cars produced using "Global Design Language", the identical cars as Chinese, French, Egyptians, British, etc. Big, beautiful cars like this one are reminders of how wonderful America was in the '50s and '60s (and could be again).

    nice but not 360 hp "352 motor (originally introduced in 1958) as an option for both 60 and 61, and its 352 high performance engine optional for 1961 (available only with a manual transmission). The latter optional engine offered 360 HP; Ford's first engine to have a more than 1HP rating per cubic inch."

      Yeah, the 352 HO wasn’t painted blue either - silver gun metal grey as I recall. The HO had a different air breather, aluminum intake, performance exhaust headers, etc. Visually much different. The Starliner depicted has the 300hp version.

    I love the '60 Ford. We had a '57 Studebaker 2dr wagon. Then, Dad brought home a '60 Ford Ranch Wagon. It was the entry level wagon, but it was beautiful. Whoever ordered it paid extra for two tone paint in Meadowvale Green with Corinthian White roof. It also had these beautiful cone shaped full wheel covers with wide whitewall tires. It was quite a handsome car. These '60 Fords are very wide cars with lots of room.

      Funny, but true story...
      The '59 Chevy had really "deep" sculpted fins that the engineers found to cause rear end lift at high speed... Because they raced them (win on Sunday, sell on Monday) , they redesigned the fins to be more shallow for 1960, so the cars wouldn't "get light" while being raced.

    The only thing better in the entire universe (of cars) is the 1960 Sunliner. Talk about the sky's the limit. Yes, the Starliner lets you reach for the stars, but the Sunliner gives you the sun, the moon and the stars. Unlike a lot of others, I have always loved the look of Ford's 1960 full-size car. But upon looking at the full frontal view in this video, it looks a little Plymouth-y. So unlike the 1959 and 1961 Fords, perhaps the '60 Ford had a little Virgil Exner influences?

  • @emjayay
    @emjayay 3 месяца назад

    Underrated. This was the first year of a new body design, clearly done by some of the same guys who worked on the 1961 Lincoln and also the German Ford 1960 Taunus.. With Ford's own "Thunderbird" roofs becoming fashionable, this 1957 Plymouth style two door hardtop roofline only lasted that one year.

      The 1960 352 Hi Po with solid lifters and iron headers was damn hot for the time at 360 HP . And was the first U.S. engine rated at more HP than cubic inches.
      I'd say the 352 Hi Po would easily beat the non Hi Po 390 of the following year.
