For some of my classes it has gotten so bad, that the professor actually told the class to leave our solutions at the set up stage and not to numerically solve them, and/or not to simplify them...
That one really sucks when the course uses peer grading. I once got the solution and presented it in coulombs, while the model answer was expressed in elemental charges. None of my peers marked my answer as correct, even though it was.

Compared to normal people, you are actually pretty smart. The average for whites in Central and Northern Europe is around 100 and that’s really not enough for physics. Most people with an IQ of 100 can’t even learn simple single-variable calculus…

I am almost certain that most of the people who feel that way are still studying and have no experience in the work field (any organization or company has a demand of different jobs e.g. management/HR) or they are rather involve in their field and fail to acknowledge the importance of other people and their jobs. I've had situations where non-STEM students/people tell me how smart I am despite knowing me for two seconds and it makes me feel weird. Maybe that stems from the impostor syndrome lol You see I always thought that everyone was able to understand math and science topics easily. That was until I tutored someone then I realized people don't grasp information the same way I do. But I still think that they are able to understand it if you have enough practice and put in a little extra effort.

Well, no that is completly foreign. Most would have done fine if they got a source to read from, but the majority isn't everybody. You act like everybody is as tech-savvy as you are. Like you would be the bare minimum, that is not true. Believe me, there are people who don't get it. And people who just don't care. I think personally there is nothing wrong with getting a short course in latex and version control. People who already know get 'free' points, people who don't know, learn it and get used to it. There is no point being against that.

I'm sure way more problems arose for other people at other times. In the end everybody understood latex and a couple of other tools. Like sure I can do all of the vector analysis and EM through google and youtube, but that doesn't mean I do it. You can learn every single thing from the internet, and the university is just for the piece of paper at the end. But still, a lot go to university. Still plenty go through the courses. You seem to find great trouble in the simple statement "we got a course learning these tools". Like what is your problem? University doesn't ever teach you something mystical that you can't find on the internet, that is not the point. You are only signing up to get help to grow as a person. You could as well do everything yourself if you wanted.
Our physics dept is a stealth engineering department. I was one of 2 people who used latex and one of 2 that did an actual physics project out of 8 senior physics majors.
I am watching this as a means of keeping myself from falling asleep while attempting to force a Riemann tensor into a derivation (the falling asleep part isn’t particularly conductive to keeping track of the gazillion indices) before my unfortunately-not-so-soft deadline tomorrow and man, you’ve actually gotten me out of my stupor with this... thanks dude!

Talking to someone outside of STEM and the Grad student - so accurate. My roommates are Sociology and English majors so no relation there. I'm also a TA at a community college and someone accidentally referred to me as a GSI and I just about died. I felt like an actual famous person.

I'm a second year and this is incredibly accurate about the seniors, except they're cool towards the grad students and us lower division students. Then again, it's a very tiny department and we all study/hang out out in one room (plus all the labs) so it might be different at universities with larger programs
I gotta be honest, My eyes just kept scanning over your hair while I tried to figure out how on Earth those colors were organized in such a way. Black roots on top with golden brown highlights despite light brown mustache and black tipped beard. I really need an explanation if I am going to have hope of sleeping
