I’ve had a Tesla Model 3 for almost three years. It’s been totally bulletproof. No petrol just free solar power. No maintenance cost. Total cost to date is $425. The only sedan to drive.
It cost between $500 to $1100 to service my Toyota Camry every 15,000 Km and Toyota charged me $290 to update Android Auto. My next car will be full electric.
I drive 45,000 kilometres a year so the savings with the Tesla would be huge for me ( we have solar at home) and service costs with either would be way down compared to my Passat. I drove a model Y performance for a client from the Sunshine Coast to the Southern Highlands earlier this year and the supercharger network was so easy to use
I have owned by Model 3 for 20 months and 40,000km. I have spent a grand total of $395 on electricity (that I can claim back at 4.2c per km rule and make a net $780 profit!) , $0 services, $0 on brakes and tyres. I got a quote for both the Camry Hybrid and Model 3 to package as a novated lease before I went electric, it's not slightly cheaper it's a lot cheaper - the Camry worked out at $271 a week for all expenses under novation - the Model 3 is $189 per week - that's 30% cheaper not just a little.
Got a 2019 Camry hybrid, I do heaps of driving (over 1000km a week) constantly loading things in and out of it, don’t treat it the best and the car has never missed a beat! Also much prefer a hybrid over electric, just top it up with fuel again and off I go, don’t have to worry about anything and still very economical. I also think it’s a pretty attractive car but also like the fact I blend in and don’t stand out. 10/10 will be upgrading to a 24 Camry soon
Autopilot is by far the best feature of any Tesla, and living in the US with FSD 12.5 is truly remarkable. It's a better driver than many people and improvements come so frequently for free over the air!
Come on man... do your homework. The current model 3, is an update of the previous. It scored some of the highest safety scores ever recorded, including 94% in occupant protection. It's one of the safest cars on the road.
5:40 The huge advantage of the Model 3 for settings is that you can add up to 10 individual driver profiles to the car - each driver profile is saved and all settings for the seats, mirrors, radio stations, streaming preferences automatically adjust to every driver profile instantly when you step into the car, i.e the car knows it's you by name becuase of the card or phone you use to enter the car ,you only need to set them once, as a 6'1" man you never need to worry again about the seat and other settings of your 5'6" partner with apparently no legs.
Apples and oranges comparison? Wouldn’t you compare the Camry model with similar tech and luxury with the Model 3? Similar price. And total cost of ownership should be a main point of comparison between HEV and BEV.
I drove both and ended up buying the Tesla. Really good reviews, both great cars, but at the end of the day this is like comparing a Sholes and Glidden (maybe a Smith Corona in the case of the Toyata Hybrid) to an Apple II. Unless you really can’t live with them, get an EV, it’s the future for almost everyone that needs a car. Or you can wait, EVs aren’t as practical if you can’t charge at home, but EVs will get better and better and better, and even now, give them a go, they are pretty great. I was super anti-EV and now I am born again after trying them (and doing the maths with the government incentives). In terms of the comfort, tech, drive experience, when comparing the base tesla to the base Camry it’s not even remotely close, and on a novated lease, the tesla definitely costs similar or more likely less.
More like guaranteed long term maintenance costs. The thing has an ICE in it, which means you’re buying guaranteed maintenance for the life of the vehicle. No thanks. High voltage battery packs routinely last for hundreds of thousands of miles- maintenance free.
U want make things equal in comparison take away all government subsidies and who pays for all the road maintenance add this cost to EV to make it more equal
@@anton_grahn I’ve spent a bit of time driving Teslas for clients, I drove a model X to Canberra for a service and return ( 400 kilometres) and I delivered a new Model Y from Sydney to its new home in the Southern Highlands (120 Kilometres) also a model Y performance from the Sunshine Coast to the Southern Highlands (1,200 kilometres) and enjoyed all those drives, so it’s quite likely I will.
You only need 30 minutes every 400km of driving to keep the Tesla perpetually on the road - it does not have any regular service schedule - every 15,000km the Camry is off the road for a day getting serviced.
Toyota stayed behind in recent years due to bad strategy. Brands like Tesla BMW and BYD overtook Toyota by far. Yes Toyota cars are reliable but we have to admit that the maintenance costs will be more for a Toyota since it has more mechanical parts. Battery technology improves every year and in 2 years from now no one will be talking about PHEVs or hybrids. I do not understant why cars should be so complex as Phevs or hybrids.
That’s about 150 -170 miles. Does your daily driving exceed 150 miles? If not, what’s the problem? If so, the vehicle can be recharged quickly, and you’ll be saving quite a lot in fuel and maintenance.
Not sure it does. 8 years or 120K miles on high voltage pack and motors. Is that bad. Interior holds up fine, except for the headrest on driver’s seat. They will only replace it once under warranty anyhow.

They need to bring back the Camry wagon.
My Model 3 is over 3 years old, Solar charging for over 45,000 kms with occasional supercharging.

It is THE safest car on the road, in it’s category. If there were six stars, it would have gotten six stars for safety.
@aaronbounds1336 thank you. Proved my point.

What is the red book for selling these 2 cars in 2 years times ?
Why did these car reviews never talk about the self driving in the Tesla which is a total game changer on long trips

I’d go for the Camry for proven build quality and long term reliability.By the way the Camry has a 360 degree camera ,not sure if the Tesla does .
Tesla has cameras all around and uses vision to build world around then parking. Super helpful and I prefer over a 360 fish eye camera

A nice comparison, both these cars are on my radar but it would be SL Camry verses model 3 long range
Go Electric it’s great 😊

I notice Camry Hybrid as Uber cars when it's being shared across multiple drivers. That uptime, is that possible in an EV vehicle?

why did he not compare to a Camry hybrid, we all know because model 3 looses every time. FFS stop stacking the deck to make it close.
Winters in Michigan will cut the range of an EV in half... no thanks!

Winters in Michigan will cut the range of an ICE car significantly also. I know - I lived in Winnipeg for a winter.
i will NEVER BUY a tesla because they don't have a instrament panel in frount of the driver, and no buttons no blinker lever.
I have an electric BMW ix1 30 M package and a Lexus NX350 Hybrid. Checkmate
Tesla is a superior vehicle.
One will have the capacity to drive itself, whilst the other does not.
Tesla has great tech, poor build quality, and even worse resale value. Toyota has great build quality and great resale value but poor tech.
Actually the bill quality in a tesla is very good I do Panel Beter and repairs on them and I have found them underneath the skin really well-made
