After the comments a couple of vlogs back about the nylon tag being left on Dans new jacket I think he’s having the last laugh and has left the whole paper label on this new body warmer! Nice one Dan, love your sense of humour! That’s what I love about you. You’re doing a great job too! ❤😊
We just knew he was loving waving that vest tag in our faces as he made his final comments. Dan is a breath of very fresh air with such a cheeky sense of humour! 😂❤
Love his humor 🤣😄💜
When I commented on the plastic tag it wasnt done with any malice so I found the big tag in tonight’s vlog funny.
@@kathleensenior9413 For sure Dan has very kind followers who appreciate his humour. I am sure he took your comment well but still got his back in his funny way.
I don't think there's any chance Dan knows who Minnie Pearl was.
Dan it would be cool if the Brico building merchant could contact one of their roofing suppliers for a design plan for the chateau roof or some free materials in return for a sponsored video. You have a lot of subscribers now, it would be great advertising for them. 🙂
He'll I'd be thrilled if some rental company would come through with a cherry picker that would b a great help for Dan
You are not Dan the gardener, you are Dan the all-rounder. You do it all brilliantly. Anyone can talk, you do it and it's a pleasure to watch you progress every day.
On this project the gardening is on the inside. But not for long.
Dan the châtelain 🎉
Dan Dan the Renaissance man!
He was so underused as Dan the Gardener!
I'm glade he is out of that place . I got real tired of seeing being constantly repaired . The place looks nice .
YES the tree is gone!! Murphys law of course… it got stuck 🙄. Amazing how nature was determined to take back its place. Great job Dan. I’m loving it all.
"Tanks a million" for sharing this milestone on clearing your roof. Sorry. Couldn't resist the play on words. You're the bees knees Dan. Ouch! Massive achievement.
💜
😂 Love it!
Oh no you didn’t 😅
Ah hahahaha love it!
Lol, nice pun😂
Like Dory says, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.."
Those drone perspective shots are the greatest. This is a most neglected feature of all chateau vlogs. Keep that up. You may offer the most aerial footage of any. Dronage, baby. 👍🏻 it gives real breadth & scale to our understanding.
I just can't wait for all the trees to come out from inside the chateau.
Me too
😂😂😂 attached to the tree that’s growing out of the roof made me laugh (and glad you’re safe, it was clearly well-rooted in)
The adrenalin and excitement powering Dan each day, how lovely for us to watch and see this.
There’s not much to him but he’s a goer 😳 😅😅
MAN'S POWER is not in his STATURE but within his MIND and SOUL. ...We only have to BELIEVE WE CAN. ..
It’s so good to see some of those trees go. I would hate for them to cause more damage.
But also, plant them?! They lasted a long while!
@@NickLaDramawould be hard to remove most of them with out damaging them
I try to imagine when this Place held 200 Jewish children during World War II .
@@gordonnadolni It was about 70 children from what I've read, not 200 (at least not at the same time).
@@zellafae plants can retain plenty of damage and still survive
Well done, that’s a big achievement, getting rid of those. Tanks But you’re now at the most dilapidated part of the building. I hope you can get some help.
Oh my gosh! You must be so relieved and happy to have those tanks down! Excellent job Dan! 😃🙌😃
You’re allowed to complain, this is a huge undertaking you’ve put on your shoulders. Great job with the water tanks.
When you said "Typical" to the branch catching on the beam I laughed so loud it startled my cat. I love watching all the little bits of progress, you seem to be making good progress at a fair rate of speed. Every day I wait for your videos to see what new idea you come up with to address the next hurdle. I'm glad the bees have moved on to their new home and aren't a hazard to work around anymore.
My cat watches with me, too, and I've startled it more than once with an outburst at Dan! 😮🙀😅
That is Murphy's law and would happen to me as well.
I woke my Shadow cat up from the snoring kind of deep sleep the day I saw the title of the blog change to "the daily dog" instead of the daily blog. It was the day the little white wire haired terrior (autocorrect says I should be typing terror) was there with the guy with awesome chainsaw skills (I think his name is Nick). I thought my eyes were playing up as my chronic fatigue syndrome had flared up again. I rewound and played the video and burst out laughing when I realised it really did say Dog. Since then I've seen it say the daily fog as well. I'm waiting for when it reads "the daily grog" as in aussie slang for beer... I will join in but only with my ginger beer as I'm coeliac (no normal beer for me).
Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
I think a lot of Dan's charm is he talks into the camera without a script or notes and he's so natural like having a beer across the table from someone.
It’s the like the saying, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Progress slow and sure.
Exciting to see the progress
One bite at a time for 20 years.
@@aleclook3837😅😅 An all-you-can-eat buffet 😅😅
@@aleclook3837 My friend gave me a silver serving spoon when I bought my little grocery store. She said it was to remember when I had a pile of shit to do, start moving the pile one spoonful at a time.
But of course we wouldn't actually eat an elephant, they are beautiful and intelligent creatures. ❤
Pretty crazy how much mud and dirt were in that basin on top of the roof so high up!
Just goes to show how what we think of as dirt is mostly compost.
I know I was thinking that and how stuff could grow right up there !!
I'm very thankful you got those tanks down safely!! How could anyone not enjoy a Preston boys outing???!! 😄😁🥰🥰
Dan, I just want you to know that I sit around just waiting for your Vlogs! I wish I could do what your doing, but I can't. thankfully I get to live vicariously through you! thank you for continuing to let us in on your journey!
Exactly what I was thinking.
I’ve never heard someone talk about so much work with a smile on their face and come across as it’s just a drop in the bucket. It’s priceless
Love how in response to everyone going apeshit about his little plastic tag thing-y still being attached, Dan full-on is trolling by leaving on the entire tag. 😄
WOW! Tanks out - I held my breathe as you muscled it out, the second one seemed a bit”easier”. YOU ROCK! I love the view from the balcony and all the green around you. Good the bees have moved on. Great day. TFS
Only channel I stop everything to watch.
Same ❤❤❤🙌❤️😁❤️
so glad the bees have done one! 😁so funny how dan said good riddance to the tank. xxxx👍
Yes, I don't think he enjoyed tin bashing!?!
Dan such a positive attitude considering trying to rebuild this neglected chateau😊
Well done Dan the demolition Man gone at last . Your face was a picture to behold mission completed .NICE . Glad the bees have left the building they have been evicted . Yay. loved watching. See you and you boys Tomorrow😘
👍👍😊. It is good that you are not bothered by heights. It is strange to see trees up that high.
Not really so strange. If you have time to let your eyes stray around I'd suggest next time you are a passenger in a vehicle you look at the roof gutters of the houses you pass... One house I saw had a date palm growing about 10 foot high out of the gutter. An expensive problem to fix if they had a really good rainstorm... A flooded roof cavity, ceiling collapse from the water or worse it finds the electricity and starts a fire up there. Almost felt like asking the driver to pull over so I could post a note in their mailbox.
Almost wrote a note to myself to check my gutters for wattle seedlings, lol. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
I greet you from Poland, your fight for this palace is fantastic.
Cheering section here! Way to go Dan. Conquer one bit at a time!
You are a walking advertisement for the clothing line Dan, love it. Getting the job done is more important anyway. The views are amazing.
An upside to the chateau not having a roof: the only infestation you had to deal with was bees, which has already been taken care of! No bats, which are a notorious headache!
Yeah. They can't be disturbed.
@@michellebyrom6551Good point! Always glad to hear about the upside! 🙃
Tanks gone ✔️
Bees gone ✔️
Remove tag from new vest (maybe) 🤣🤣
Great video. Orange trousers 👖 will have plenty to clean out from that room when he returns 🧡🏰🧡🏰
Calvin
@lgrindrod3474 yes, I know it is Calvin
love that you don’t even have time or vanity to take the labels off your workwear 😅😅😅😅😅
New blades cut like butter... I'm wondering how your arms are feeling?! That was hard work, well done. Beautiful drone footage of the Chateau and forest. Looking forward to tomorrow. I've been wondering how the boys are doing. ☺️
I needed a good laugh. And I laughed like a drain when you noted that things are pretty bad when the safest anchor is a tree growing from your roof! Thanks!
You've got such a great attitude and personality to withstand you from burnout, you deserve an attaboy... attaboy!
Attaboy! 😅
The tree getting caught just made me laugh out loud and the tag on your vest is priceless!
A hard days work Dan! So happy to see those tanks go. The view is incredible! 🥰
Haha l'étiquette à la fin ! Nice joke. Brilliant! Thanks for the daily updates by the way. Continue, c'est génial.
As always great progress. You are accomplishing so much in a very short time. Look forward to another fun filled day.
Oh Dan.... you are a classic. Everyone complaining about the tiny little plastic tag you left on your new jacket - you leaving the whole tag on your new vest!!! Love your humour!!!
you could tell he was having a laugh 😂
I really enjoy your updates and how you present them; I feel like I'm sharing in the adventure and wish I lived closer to lend a hand. Living in New Zealand is a touch far for a weekend trip, but guessing you don't want unknown stragglers just dropping in and I'll have to watch from a distance. Thank you for sharing and contact me if you want some help...heading to France and Germany in the coming year. Best regards.
Hello from Wellington. I remember you well from Auckland Council days. 😅😅
Very small world...one degree of separation in NZ...hope you are doing well. Best regards.
I love trees, but trees in my house, not so much. So happy to see them going, Just another piece of reclaiming the Chateau back from the elements.
We once had an ailanthus tree growing inside our basement and that wasn't the only time I've seen that. It wasn't very green, more yellow, but it did grow to over 150 cm in height before we noticed and removed it. And that was a perfectly normal old-house basement, no roof leaks or anything, just a bit damp from underneath. The house next door had one grow to almost twice that height inside a basement window, now that looked amazing!
Won't it be so nice to get the roof added? That will make you really see the progress and protect the inside of the castle?
Yes, but it's a major phase of a ginormous project!?!
I have heard in France, once there is a roof you have to pay land tax.
@JaneRob: wouldn't it take more than a roof to make the dwelling taxable? It's not habitable in its present state.
There is nothing to roof yet. The walls don't exist to support it yet. Dan acknowledged that today when he talked about taking down and rebuilding them. Also you can't build a roof without some kind of access on the outside of the building. Sit tight, it's going to be awhile.
I like calling it a Mansion . Wish he could do more. Look forward to the next project .
I find it ironic that the bathroom floor, being the only floor that escaped the fire, had to be carved up to get the Bees out!! 😅 Great progress today Dan.👌🥰
There's another one in the second-floor bathroom. it might have to come up too though, to check the condition of the joists.
You look so happy and completely satisfied with your progress Dan, and so you should be. You have worked non stop but achieved so much, well done 💕🇦🇺
I'll be extatic just as much as you Dan when the temporary roof goes on, glad to see the bees have found a new home too 😊
Good morning to you all. Don't you just love that smile. Dan you look like a kid in a candy store. I so happy for you. This is truly exciting to watch your transformation of your beautiful home.
That looked like a really hard job to get rid of the water tanks. I'm glad you've got that behind you and on to the next job. It really is an exciting project.
Dan, while I watch you, day after day, you're the definition of True Grit 👍. Follow that dream.
Good morning team Dan
Coming in from a very sleepless night and no power down here in New Zealand ❤…
Thank goodness to see those tanks gone 🙌
That little window absolutely adorable❤ was there one on the other side like to mirror it ?🤷♀️
The tree landing in the steel beams 🤭 sorry I had to laugh cause it would happen to me also if I did the toss out thing too … or fighting with the tarp….and the only thing to tie yourself too is a tree …….nothings made easy but boy you get on a do a amazing job…
The brick walls ….These are the inside ones your replacement is blocked not brick ?
God I love a good rendering video …We could watch you for hours 🤭😏…
And for the bee’s that’s fantastic news
Your drone footage of the Château is breathtaking ❤
Me phones at 38% but luckily I boiled a thermos as I expected this to happen…
Rest easy and we will see you tomorrow ❤
Hope your power is restored soon. What does it mean to "boil a thermos"? Just curious here in Michigan USA
@@winmarfbd909 Probably store some hot water for tea or coffee.
@@Ragnar8504 Ok, so you don't boil the thermos itself 😂🤣
@@winmarfbd909 Probably not 😀 (I'm not from NZ though, so it's just a guess)
On the plus side the tank base didn’t go through the floor all the way to the basement so the concrete is stronger than it looks!
I bet it took a bit of a bashing, but it didn't collapse, but the Ground Floor (...... and Basement Ceiling) are up for demolition!?!
testing, one...two...
@@thomasherrin6798 Yes, definitely, just not yet.
Notice how the stone on the upper level seems to blend seamlessly with the brick?
It's because it's melted brick.
Take a closer look!
What kind of heat does that to Brick?
Great job on the Chalet, thanks for the video!
The fire warped the iron girders too
Thanks for pointing it out, now I gotta watch it again closely to see what melted brick looks like. I'm guessing that it melted so well not just because of how hot the fire was but also because the bricks were made with a high percentage of sand in the "recipe" of the mix. Blessings, Dot
Just love this channel Dan, you are unbelievable!
“The impossible just takes a little longer” is the saying I’ve lived by.
Thanks for including the beautiful nature that surrounds the chateaux. Good job getting those tanks removed. The restoration is showing signs of possibility, even if by small steps.
Another great blog Dan., it’s getting there just please be careful… ps… I love your new sleeveless top with the added bonus of big tags on the zip…lol I nearly spat my drink out
Your excitement is palpable and I am so happy :) Dan the Man !! showing his talents.....and making us smile
Such self determination - you put the D in Disney. Been thinking if you fall with your harness on and you are dangling there, or your ladder gets knocked away by mistake, as you are on your own - what rescue plans do you have in place LOL
Yes, wondered about that too…
For one thing he keeps his phone in his front pocket.
He needs a gps beeper round the neck, or medic alert thingy? Only thing, if he is seriously injured or unconscious….who knows how long he’d be left?
I knoooow he used to ring or txt Calvin just to say whatever…. so maybe he has a closer person to contact 🤷♀️
The former owner seems to live in the property next door to the gate. I suspect that if Dan didn't close up at night, without putting the lights on, they would be looking in to be sure everything is fine.
Yeah. It's probably beyond shouting distance, but it's quicker than waiting for friends and family to notice his silence.
Hurray! no more water tank. you are so good at this.
So much demolition to do before the fun of rebuilding. Getting rid of those trees is satisfying too!
Such pretty forest to look at those views from the top are fabulous.
Thought I was late in viewing this. But, 22,000 views in an hour. Boy do we all look forward to your videos
Good idea. I believe the top has to go for now. Then you can build up eventually.
Thank you for all the vlogs! Not an easy task mate 😉
Well, that was very satisfying! I am still hoping you can work your magic on those tanks and reuse them as a landscaping feature. Cool find, the zinc roof fleur de lis! And the little window as well! Call me overly protective, but gloves might have been a good idea while handling the newly sawn rough edges. But, you figured out what to do without a scratch!
I'm seeing the light now. Stabilising the tops of those walls, giving the whole structure and yourself time to take a breath. And yeah, doable, one step at a time. Massive.
Great job Dan 👍
I laughed out loud when you commented about your safety line attached to..."a tree"...I'll be excited to see the trees out of there PERIOD...glad the bees are gone and I pray for no rain for ya...have fun with the boyz tomorrow...CHEERS...
Fantastic job Dan!
As we say in Australia 🇦🇺 Bloody good job mate , onya well done ... you are absolutely flying through this Dan . I Absolutely love the drone footage😅
I love how upbeat you remain during all of this. Never lose your excitement, it's going to be spectacular in the end!
Well done! It was a tankless job, but someone had to do it.
Interesting to see the drone footage I didn’t realise there was a house so close to the chateau I really look forward to each new daily vlog Your making such great progress
It's the old gate lodge and used to be part of the property. The previous owner restored that place and split the land before he sold the château. That lodge is most likely where the original owner and her daughter lived after they fell on hard times, so probably from the 19teens to the late 60s.
Wonderful Progress!
Yes, that blade worked so fast!!! So impressive what you are doing Dan. All the best to you.
DAN YOU SHOULD BE CHUFFED. ALL THIS HARD WORK AND PREP WILL PAY OFF. ......THEN YOU CAN SIT BACK IN YEARS TO COME AND MARVEL AT WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED. KEEP GOING BUT REST AS WELL. WE NEED YOU TO STAY STRONG, POSITIVE AND HEALTHY. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼✅✅✅✅✅✅
Huge achievement, way to go sticking at it. I’m thrilled to see the trees and plants come off the top floor!
Well done, Dan! That’s a big job accomplished! Glad the bees are gone. Looking forward to tomorrow and seeing what you have planned for the boys🙂
Every single day you do an extraordinary amount of work Dan. Enjoy your day with the boys!
Only a man with a steadfast vision and a driving passion to see it through, could have done what you do everyday. Dan the Man! Well done! ❤ stunning editing!
😂 “OH typical,” had me cracking up.
The piano music you chose in the middle, was perfect for this task! love it.
Another Mission Impossible ticked off. You are a DIY hero!
There is a 2 nub-prong wrench that you are supposed to use. Usually comes with the tool. Hand tightening isn’t the safe step to use.
Yes, it's in the back of the van I suspect so rather than go down several flights of ladders.........Plan B!?!
Oh, wow! So daring! Incredible, you are knowledgeable and brave to estimate the security of the structure to continue your dream.
So good to see it clear around the Chateau and also how different the forest and surrounding countryside look now all green again compared to the frosty and bare land in Winter. So good to see it all moving forward Dan the Man!
Wonder if any of the rubbish business would sponsor you by giving you bins for the construction trash. Love the hoody and the tag left on for a quick visual ad. You complain all you want. Your doing the work. It has come so far in a years time. I enjoy your vlog everyday. Celebrate how far you have come.
Sounds like a plan Dan !!! Can't believe not one of those heavy pieces of the tank did not hit the steel girders on their way down, that could have been catastrophic !!!
You know this is an unusual home renovation project when clearing out the top floor involves, uh...cutting down a tree! You're amazing Dan. Had I come across this chateau while looking for a fixer-upper, I would have sprinted the other direction!
Found your bio, it answered alot of my questions. Lol. You found a way to get tube to pay, and keep your hobbies going. I'm impressed. Be safe
Keep going, doing great. Can't wait for the next few weeks progress.
Your journey working on this is so amazing! As great a each set makes you feel, when you are done there will be no better feeling than knowing you did that!
Awesome job Dan! I am eager to see the progress every day! So glad the boys are watching you working on their future home.

its all good progress Dan, you can't rush a job like this.. thanks for sharing take care up there cheers
SUPERB Dan….such a lot done today. Of course that first tree had to land on the metal beam! Sod’s Law 🙄. I did laugh out loud when you fastened your harness to the random tree growing on the roof…but…better that than nothing at all. The ornamental Zinc piece that you found is beautiful..a nice little keepsake. Thanks for todays video Dan. Take care. Dottie x
