People try to pry into Karl's head to get an answer, a formula, the steps it took to get where he is. In the closing questions he tries to explain how things come to him. Simply: He was genius, it was effortless, natural, and above all, Noble! RIP
What an amazing individual we have lost. He lived like a king in this dastardly world we have created with money and still had his way! That takes a lot of talent. Miss and love you karl.

Karl's accent of French and Germany is like mixing smoothly and I could listened to it without one over powering the other...Hats off to you Karl...Rest In Awesomeness KL...
Lovely Interviewer. Love to watch this and she did not interrupt as some others do. Nice to watch and unfortunately we have no more KL among us. He is and was my muse to work my art.
It’s very true that what he does he can only do because the seamstresses, marketers, business people and so on at Chanel are the abolished best. So even a mediocre designer would be made to look at Chanel. He is honest enough to admit that and I think it’s very true. The seamstresses at Chanel can do anything! I never felt he was such a brilliant designer anyway. He’s a great interpreter of fashion history and much better at that than actual design. He was lucky enough to be born into money and that, plus his personal interests and landing Chanel in ‘83 is what has given him his fame. There are many much more talented people that will never make it because they weren’t born into money.
I would have LOVED it if he would have designed my clothes .... I too would only wear BLACK and White my dresses would have to be fitted ..and I would love to wear his design hats....etc.... I love pearls...
+Gerhard Rinkens you're good at making a controversy. This man is getting the interview, he is doing the work. If the building doesn't fall down or lean like the italian tower let's call him a success hm?
Riiight.. I didn't realize that appropriating feminism, aboriginal cultures and fat shaming people made someone "charismatic", By golly Amanda your questionable journalistic integrity never ends.
14:00 "Are you happy?" > "You're happy as long as you don't ask yourself this kind of questions" How true is that.
Wow exactly
this is a brilliant answer...if you have to ask yourself are you happy?
so very German of him!
Probably one of the smartest people in the world

“How? Huh? Why do you call him brilliant? Huh” he adds a huh behind every word lol
I could listen to him for hours!

So could I a soothing lovely voice

GODFATHER OF FASHION THAT'S IT
You forget YSL
great interview, amazing man!
I think he channeled his design work. He was channeling from outside himself and had several kind of spiritual artistic muses that worked through him.
Excellent interview.
The world is less tawdry today because of the existence of this very man. How that brain was wired, we shall never know. RIP
I zink he was one heck of an interesting person.

Man kann erkennen dass er durch einiges an hardship gegangen ist....auch wenn er es nicht zugibt.
Glaube ich auch.

Yes yes yes no no nooo

Wrong person to interview Lagerfeld. I bet she assumes Anthropologie does a 'Coture' line.
somehow, I feel sorry for the interviewer.
why?
She just cackles. No class
13:05 is that fair.... More or Less HA!
LOL
Work a holic, focused and kind of rigid.
Amanda Lang is not a good interviewer she comes off as cold and impersonal. Mr. Lagerfeld is very gracious and warmhearted.
You have to have chops to interview karl Lagerfeld
intimidating interviewer, she can't even pronounce Balmain correctly.
a car ? cost as much as a house !!
individual
My goodness !… her questions were the most banal I’ve ever heard. He looked so bored.
Karl I like you dearly.... but..... you are not an architect.
stick to fashion, clothes ....
+Schamottriese can't he judge what someone does without being an expert?
+Gerhard Rinkens you're good at making a controversy. This man is getting the interview, he is doing the work. If the building doesn't fall down or lean like the italian tower let's call him a success hm?
Gerhard Rinkens. Or what will happen?
@@hawaiianambition absolutely
He can do anything. !!
He has a glass eye. It never fit properly so it wobbles.
Really?
Evidence?
no, don’t be silly and spread rumors and misinformation
Riiight.. I didn't realize that appropriating feminism, aboriginal cultures and fat shaming people made someone "charismatic", By golly Amanda your questionable journalistic integrity never ends.
I'l translate your comment: Bla bla pc. Bla bla virtue signaling, bla bla identity politics bla bla bla bla neo marxism bla bla no common sense...
@@SIMKINYXthank you for this translation, seems accurate to me.
Teeth like that is not acceptable...especially as a fashion and style person.
Yes with all his money I’m surprised he never fixed and whitened his teeth. Maybe he wanted that crooked yellow 18th century look?
Wow
