Would you agree with the theory that a bigger esc on the same original s rating of the boat helps everything to run cooler ??

I have 2 of those escs I like them. On the other hand I just dont care for the delay in throttle..I didn't know they were not water proof just found that out on this video. I did upgrade to the new hydra xlx2s.

I love rc boats!!!, burning something up is just part of the fun, if I had 1 dollar for every ESC,motor, battery I reduced to smoking like a haystack I could buy… well one more to do the same thing to.

Lol we're in the same boat. The little collection of burnt esc's you saw in the previous video isn't even half of the bad esc's & motors I've killed over the years.
Running boats with borderline props will definitely kill electronics 😆
you should be able to plug any 5-12v rx pack into the other side to program that esc.. no need to unplug lead from rx...box just needs power 😁

Appreciate the great info sir. Why would a fly color esc beep nonstop when you power it up. I've screwed something up. No throttle at all. Help sir.
Could be the receiver try another receiver and or remind existing. Your throttle trim could be "off" plug battery in and turn throttle trims & d/r slowly till beeps stop

About to do a little work on my swv2 got to replace stuffing tube and the rubber grommet for the hold down the grommet got torn up somehow, I'm also gonna see if the impulse 32 stuffing tube that's shorter will work on the swv2 with the tfl stinger. Any way, long comment but peace out.
the gromet inside the boat? if so i ussd a peace of silicone tube stretched o e the stuffing tube worked perfet and looks good to
My ztw 150amp HV cogs my tp motor because of soft start. It's a "D" wind motor and my 220amp sword fish esc's won't run a "D" wind motor either. What became of your soft start deal. Thx man.
Use auto timing and no voltage protection via programming, doesn't solve e the solution start but it doesn't power cut as often with these two settings.
Another good tutorial B. I've been juggling around the decision on an upgraded ESC for my UL19. Wanted the raider but OSE is still out of stock. Thought about the 180a seaking or the ZTW 130a. Got your goody box about ready to ship.
What motor are you running? If it's the stock motor the 150 ose or flycolor 150 should work just fine. Let me know what motor your running
@@IRONCLADRC I have the stock motor and a firma 3682 2000kv. Was gonna put stock electronics from my UL on my Revolt 30 and upgrade the UL to the firma or sss 1600kv
Hi Digby good vid again 👍 Ive got this boat from my friend who isn't able to use it a red and white model,the seam on side of hull has opened ,what do I use to reinforce the seam
I roughed up the polycarbonate real good with like 40 grit sand paper I've tried 2 different ways carbonfiber w/ epoxy and or jb plastic bonder both works just fine.

AWSOME thanks, can’t wait to see that setup hit the water. You can never have to many amps in your ESC. I haven’t had a lot of experience with program cards, I’m so irked with not knowing if my ESC is delivering the full voltage from my battery. Back in the day the mechanical speed controller made full contact at the end of the servo arm swing-BANG all juice flowed to the motor and you could see it kick!!!
Hey Big B do you know of a way to measure voltage output at the 3 wire end of an ESC ???
Program cards definitely come in handy, I usually Program my ose and spektrum speed controls with the transmitter via beeps.
Wish I could help with the voltage output, I know just enough, to not make sense explaining what to do? Lol
Just take a multimeter, 20 V DC, and measure the red and black/brown wire at the "metal part" at the connector or put two needle in the connector
It’s water proof I have had my boat floating noise up pretty much Just see the noise of the boat . Hasn’t died yet 😂😂😂 the soft start where I get it . U don’t know about it when boat is in the water .

Still going to use the tp motor? Think its not heavy enough for that motor. TP is rated about 240A i believe. Lets hope you don't blow this one.
Probably try the tp motor next week sometime..
The motor might not pull all those amps if it is not under its full load
I’m running the same motor and ZTW 200 but 1650 kv on 8s 4517 prop no high temps no issues yet.
@@jamesatkinson7517 of course your right about that. The thing is, do you want to risk your electronics? I am sure my mono with a 2000kv 4082 on 6s (which is lighter of course) will pull that prop too, but that's not what i ment. A 300A esc is better suited for the job. Especially when you go to its limits, do speedruns and so on. It will run much lower temps bashing around, and probably handle some speedruns after another also without risking burning it up. I asume it also is faster because you can push the motor futher to its limits.
I tried for instance tp4050 2310kv on t180. Could only pull a my smallest (42.5mm) prop and run a few minutes with some full trigger pulls and everything was to hot. Also tried 1800kv 4076 with higher amp rating (33% more as 2000kv) witch should have out performed the 2000kv, same thing, shorter runtime, slower, and higher temps. The 2000kv pulls 45+mm prop, is about 4mph slower than 2310kv but runs double the time without any heat issues and full trigger when i want it to. With a 47mm i get cutouts (same prop cutdown works though). I haven't tested it yet, but have a bigger esc now build in. I think/asume that a 47 or even a bit bigger is no problem then anymore...

I Burnt out a few of those 180 Seaking s I found the flycolor 150’s to be way stronger.
I run riggers so it’s only my 33 fe that I run the ZTW in
On the smaller ones that are weight conscious so I run the Seaking 120 pro it is so light and has gave more more speed than even the flycolor 150 anyway horses for courses.
I wish Seaking did the 180 in a pro version actually higher amps would be better
That new castle hydra is about the same weight as the ZTW anyway but wow it has some features.
I had the original 240 hydra in a 30 inch rigger 12 years ago and had a cooling hose come off and it melted it.
None of the inbuilt safety’s saved it.
At the time it was over $300 usd so I swore then I never pay that much for an esc ever again. When I bought my ZTW it was from Aliexpress and was some sort of sale possibly 2 years ago for about $220 Australian dollars
I figured at that price I’ll give it a shot.
I have burnt out so many swordfish esc’s over the years I’ll never buy that brand again. They have no real peak amp coverage for spikes.
These are just my experiences for what they are worth. I’m Just sharing.

Btw, the bigger esc i'm going to try is the castle x8s (also got 1520 motor). First with coolingfan, if it works well, probably with watercooling and fan (if you spray fan(motor) with good specialised electronics spray it can handle water). Those esc's have been tested in (speedrun cars) setups doing 350 amps. It's also not exteme big (without a fan) en easyer to get in stores. Have zero experience in all the data you can aquire with it, but thought it might be helpfull (instead of buying 3 motors en 15 props or so). If it doesn't work i can put the set it in my rc monstertruck or a streched buggy...
And needs qs8 connectors too
