I have one baby girl. Sadly I couldn't get her to breastfeed and this is one of the 2 reasons I had terrible post partum depression. The other was that my partner did not help me in anyway when my baby was born. This is one of the many videos I watched and might be the only one that helped me feel like I was not a failure and that it was going to be ok in the end. Mommas out there who are struggling don't be hard on yourselves you are doing wonderfully because you are trying! If baby won't latch don't despair. Pump or fall back on formula. I know there's nothing like mommas milk but sometimes there's no other choice and that's not a bad thing! As long as baby eats!!! Just make sure baby eats and you will have done your job perfectly! Sending lots of love and warm hugs to those who need it❤ It's ok momma you're not alone

Thank you so much for making this video I’ve been in tears all day because my baby was having such a hard time latching and only wanted the bottle. I remembered after watching this video I have a nipple shield and tried it with the koala hold and she latched and fed perfectly! Nipple shield is literally from medela, thank you so so much

Hi elly can you tell me how old is your baby. Mine is 1 month and doesnt open his mouth enough to grab everything..same with the nipple shield...only take the nipple and bite it so it hurts and make painfull vasospam

@@parisclinton9778 my baby stopped latching when she was one week old, I started practicing with the shield around 2 weeks old she wouldnt latch it every time I still had to pump and use bottles but I kept at it every day and when she was 5 weeks old she started latching back on my nipple again. She’s 9 weeks now and fully breastfed no bottles anymore! The nipple shield saved our breastfeeding journey I’m so thankful the nurse in the hospital gave me one before we left. I hope it helps, stay consistent and don’t give up!

@@parisclinton9778 pay attention to your babies hunger cues. If you see him pecking at your chest like he’s looking for a nipple that’s the best time to try the shield or breast. WIC has free lactation consultants too that can help you with your babies latch. It’s a learning process for them and for you. I found that it was easier for her to breast feed laying down on my side with her on her side facing me. There’s also mouth stretches to help the babie if they are tongue tied. Normally what can happen if the baby can’t open mouth enough or stick their tongue out! The shield was my saving grace!

@@parisclinton9778 I totally understand you!! I wish you luck!! It took us 4 weeks so don’t be discouraged! We noticed our baby kept pecking at our chests no matter who held her she was looking for it. We started practicing more and more when she started doing that. She hasn’t had a bottle in a while now. I still have to pump because I have an over supply but it’s way easier with nursing!

@@concepcionmartinez9023 Hi, I used Tommee Tippee shields. I would just say make sure they are the right size for your nipple. I bought two sets and would sterilise them at least once every 24 hours, just rinsing them under water after every use. I would try to offer the breast at least once a day without them, but would stop immediately as soon as my baby got distressed or disinterested because I didn’t want him to associate that experience with breastfeeding, and the stress was never worth it for me either! Sometimes he would latch for a couple of seconds, sometimes not at all. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself. They very well may just do it in their own time anyway, my baby just suddenly latched without one day at 4 months and never used them again.
That’s really great you’re seeing a lactation consultant, I’m sure they will be able to give you the best advice and practical help. Best of luck!

I was never successful. I pumped and it hurt so bad. I couldn't stand it any longer and I gave up and bought the powder stuff. I hated myself for a long time but really had no choice. I had two others before this baby with no problems latching but I couldn't make it work no matter what I tried. Keep trying but if you really can't please don't harm yourself over it. My baby is a teen now and all is well. 👍🥰

Try re-birthing. It may help. Dark room. skin to skin. both of you relax. no baby mittens. Lay down (reclined if you can) and just let baby lay there. Do in several times a day, use it more as a bonding experience rather than trying to get baby to latch. I know it is hard, but take the pressure off of yourself.
