From guttural overtone singing. To melodic chanting mantras. Vocalization is universal. I found out I can do Kargyrra, a very deep throat singing and it somehow reverberates in the woods and in open spaces well. Its more like a controlled sustained cough, thats the best way I can describe it.

This reminded me of a dream I had a while back. I was standing in a empty attic, looking up at the ceiling and I began to sing and all of a sudden this beautiful golden light came through the ceiling down on to me. I believe what you say, our voices are powerful.

I am pleased that you pointed out that the myths of old were not meant to be canonical and written on stone tablets. That is the way literalists gatekeep and it is not how the myths work in oral tradition.

It's a really interesting thought, that spirituality is meant to be orally passed down. It makes sense. I'm very glad people did write everything down because we would have lost so much otherwise, but I think you're right and it's a good idea for us to begin the oral traditions again.

Another thing to note is that each of us has a unique voice. Not one voice is the same, so I think bringing in that added perspective makes the use of our voices in our practices that much deeper and personal. ❤

The other day I sang the runes to an antler that I made into a drum mallet as I waved sage smoke onto it and it was a really special experience. Great video Jacob! I agree that we have to be willing and able to talk to each other, even if we don’t all share the same worldview.

I am so glad you brought up the point that the stories as they were told from Skald to Skald might have changed slightly...but the Spirit of the story often remained the same. The point of the stories was to evoke a memory and/or moral and each Skald did what was most effective for their listeners. I believe in the ability of the Gods to transfer their inspiration to the Skald...especially the Shaman /Healer type people in the tribes of the world. The Shamans walked between the worlds and the Gods appeared to them EXACTLY as the Shaman needed to see them so the knowledge being transferred could be understood as familiar. With that in mind...I believe the universal connection to the Gods was through Nature! Birds sing, wolves howl, bees buzz, the trees rustle in the breeze, thunder crashes...all are the sacred voice of Nature :) It is only appropriate for us to sing, and tell our stories to honor all the Great Spirits! I too call out to Nordri, Sudri, Austri, and Vestri before rituals! (Amy and Miguel inspired me to start doing that early this summer). Awesome video Jacob! Thank you!

Voice is a musical instrument too, one of the few available in the old days. We got disconnected to it the same way we got disconnected to nature and our own body. Is something we should reclaim back 😊 Totally agree with the bit about fixating on details. Faith wasn't exactly the same everywhere in ancient times and being considered something more personal I think it was much more fluid.

Jacob, I love this video of yours. I am pausing at 7:36 to say that you have expressed this same passion before! I remember a video a while back where you said to be poetic with your words, example "Odin's ravens must be watching", something that brings mystery but also honors the past. I feel what you are doing here expands upon this.
We do not have to be fully accurate to the stories, but its the lessons and guidance we need to focus on.

100%. Celt, and not just by choice, lol. Been a practioner a very long time, and have always used music and voice to raise energy. Full disclosure, I've also been a singer my whole life (fake rock star in bands for 20+ years, on and off, unfortunately mostly off these days). But I have always felt somehow through song, through music, "they" can hear us, and appreciate it, and it indeed makes you feel more connected to the spirit realm, the unseen, I guess. Music is one of humanities best forms of expression and emotion, there is nothing else quite like it. And its different for everyone, but all have their own "magical songs"...as I do.
Love your stuff, just great. Stay well and thank you. 🌞🌚🌌☮

Im so inspired by you actually talking more about the spirit and living tradition of spoken story telling vs. literal or linear historical details. It feels like you're breathing new life into what our ancestors were actually up to and why we would even care today. Great video! And great take on the use of the voice to connect with the traditions!! This is why I connect with paganism and shamanism! To connect with a way of life that fills me and others back up with wisdom and life force. Connecting to our land, our ancestors and each other. Just experimented more with this recently while doing a house clearing and brought in the four directions through the archangels (how I've been taught to honor the breath of life) and singing each of their names. Powerful experience for me. Glad to hear others are calling on this connection. Keep up the awesome explorations of these traditions and sharing of wisdom! Loving it!!

Thank you for the video! I love all the work you do. I have to agree with you, if you look at someone you know who has told the story a million times, the tiny details tend to change but the big points of the story tend to stay the same. I can see this and you make an excellent point. I see a lot of the fighting in Norse groups over the little details. I also have not looked at it like this and I could see this being more a natural thing they would do. Keep up the good work!

What a weird coincidence (or synchronicity). This is the second time this month I've heard someone say that the passing of verbal information was due to / or in part of the idea that if we wrote it down it would degrade our memory of it. Now, totally logical... but (and I'm not challenging you on this, I just want to know lol) where does that idea originate? How can it be traced as factual? Is there anything you (or anyone) can provide a link to figure out the origin of the idea?

Enchantment comes from the word chant. We got many aryan stanzas from different aryan roots for we to change this horrible reality. Avestas, Eddas, Rig Veda, Greek sources. Chanted of course in the original language has a power effect in our reality and the spirit of our people.
Shaman, Cacique, Sakhai, Singer, galic (gallius/cock) for those of us who study linguistics, are in fact the same word. A magician that modifies reality trough chanting.
