Madam, the letter U is considered to be a Vowel letter . The sound "yu/yoo" just like it's name is a Vowel sound or a constant sound? If it's a Vowel sound, why can't we use article AN before the word UNIVERSITY?

when u say "university", the first sound we hear is not a vowel, but the consonant sound /j/ as in "yellow". When u say "umbrella", the first sound u hear is "^", a vowel sound. Hope this clears.
