Best there ever was.. and it's always good to keep in mind all those cool licks everybody plays today came from old Albert. I'm 58 years old now, played since I was 8 and I hear a lot of people rippin it up on the keys, maybe faster, maybe more technical.. but just listen to that timing, rhythm just plain ole style. R.I.P. to the baddest of them all.
Great to see piano making a revival. I remember when every house had a piano. Then some fool came up with the idea of piano smashing competitions. It was very sad indeed. Lots of happy days on the piano. If nothing else, everyone who visited could play at least chopsticks Ha Ha ! Ah well, back to practicing!
My parents used to go see Albert and Pete at Lindy's Skyline Lodge in Cleveland when I was a baby! My Mom would put me in the playpen, and I would scream "Usmic! Usmic!" until she put on a stack of Boogie Woogie! Only way to shut me up!
There are many types of music that is played by piano. But when it comes to hearing Boogie Woogie played by the masters of old, you wish that these masters were around today. Where can you go to hear this type of music where your whole body wants to move.
I have a Mercury 78 in which A.A. plays on the St. Louis Blues, and another tune I can't recall...it is a terrible scratchy mess of a record but the content is out of this world! I have never seen it anywhere in fact.
1936 that's ridiculous. I'm trying to find the roots of Rock and Roll. It's not Chuck Berry when this stuff was out 22 years before him. The hunt continues...
i don't think you get it. you transcribe something, learn it, take want you want and take ideas and practice them in different ways. you don't play somebody' s note for note every time you play that tune in public. But every good jazz musician transcribes solos and even memorizes some with the intention of getting inside that player's style.
Who's here after reading "you like It darker" by King?
I am
Me!
Yo
I just finish reading that story like 5 minutes ago.
Yup. Me, too.
This is the very root and heart of what went on to be rock and roll.
Fact. Lost on so many.

You've got great perspective !
Wow! Just wow. Wish I could travel back in time to see this live.

And I don't think anyone wants a jerk to comment what they say.
Good story ! The earliest Boogie-Woogie addiction on record !
@@clinttoris2762 don't be an Arsle!
This is the beginning of rock and roll.
You are right the beginning the rock and roll Joe Turner
I never thought about it like that, but it sure sounds like it.
No, it's a continuation of boogie woogie.

Great artist from Chicago's roaring 30s and '40s. His Son, Gene "Jughead" Ammons, made the Chicago mark on tenor saxophone.

Magic!
What these guys did with old broken down pianos is unbelievable it just goes to show what you can do if you use your creative mind.
Michael alf trio plays this flawlessly
Thanks Paul, that was fantastic. I'm sure Albert would have been impressed!
Albert Ammons knew how to use his left hand.
Still crazy after all these years. Pinetop had no idea the whole world would boogie.
have to listen to this for school but it really slaps
Got to love it one of the best of the best!
This is just great. Thanks!

How is it that some European publishing company is selling American music on the the internet? Do the families get any of the proceeds?

Supeeerrrr bomb god 💣💣👍👍👍👍💣💣💣👍👍👍👍👍
Genau!
That's what I'm talking about !
His son, Gene Ammons, tenor sax, was born when he was 18.
imagine that this played on some battlefield in the WW II
This transcription is fine but Ammons rocked a lot harder than this. Listen to the actual recording it's much better.
I think Dr k know how to play this

Transcribe it????? Hilarious. The whole point is that it is improvised.
Shame that 99% of black musicians have never heard this music.
It’s there roots & lost in rap.
Wtf is this sheet music?
Rofl. . . .. That's like saying the best way to learn a foreign language is to memorize lots of words,. It doesn't work that way.
