    Thank you! I am getting ready to knock about 35 years of rust off of my build skills - aiming to craft a worthy MPC 1/72 Eagle of my own. Your series is wonderful just to watch - serious ASMR even if not deliberate - and VERY motivational to get us going. Many, many thanks.

    A great build. I just finished making one of those kits yesterday. A well made kit but the instructions leave a bit to be desired. They actually left out 1 stage of building instructions on the module. Also there wasn't enough of the tiny black squares on the decal sheet to do all of them on the model. Also there's a whole load of stencil marking on the decal sheet with no reference in the kit. You have to look at the 22 inch version to see where they go.

    Very nice. Maybe adding some dirt/lunar regolith effect on the bottom would be even more realistic-looking?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Год назад +1

      Hi Nick, Thank you for this great idea! I have one interesting note on the subject; I took a lot of photos with it sitting in concrete mix to simulate lunar soil, which proved to be almost impossible to clean off, so to this day there is unintentional moon dust on the pads! Take care.

    Well done mate, excellent work! Did Space: 1999 air in Canada, and if so what year? I first remember watching it here in the UK around 1974.
    All the best pal…

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  2 года назад +1

      Hi Tinto!
      Thank you so much for leaving such a kind comment! Indeed, Space: 1999 was broadcast in Canada on the CBC network--the first season was shown in some areas over the course of the 1975-76 UK run and did so well in the ratings that they moved it to full-network status and then the next year aired the entire 1976-77 second season in a spot every Saturday night right before Hockey Night in Canada. A French version of the show, Cosmos:1999, was also shown on French-language CBC. The ratings were so good that the network then ran the first season in the same spot the next year and continued to repeat the seasons regionally well into the mid 80s!
      My friends and I loved it because the Eagles and the commlock with a tiny video screen seemed so futuristic and realistic at the same time!
      Take care.

    Very good work and thanks for sharing your skills. What is the purpose of applying Decal Fix before applying a decal? And what does the softener do?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Год назад +1

      Hi Cobus, Thank you for your kind comment. I use Decal Fix as it cleans the surface and according to Vallejo "will increase the adhesive properties of the decal." The softener is a solution that chemically softens the carrier so that it will settle into cracks and micro pitted paints as well as over convex and concave shapes. This combo helps reduce or eliminate air bubbles under the decal thereby eliminating silvering once dried. Take care.

      @@ArcticModeler thank you for your reply. Do you usually coat the paint with a varnish before applying the decals to prevent water stains?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Год назад

      Hi Cobus, Yes, I typically apply a gloss or semi coat before applying decals. Doing so also ensures that they can be easily moved around to get them properly positioned.

    Well, I had to go and order the Aztek Dummy masks and the Paragrafix photo etch set for this kit. But where did you get the other decal sheet with all the stripe markings for cage work?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  2 года назад +1

      Hi Dan,
      Thank you for leaving a comment. I'm sure you will really enjoy the benefits of the Paragrafix photo etch as well as the Aztek Dummy masks. As for the custom decals, I actually created those myself by just modifying the existing decal sheet a bit and then printing and sealing them with Microscale Liquid Decal Film on clear decal paper. I talk about it in a bit more detail in the second detailed build video beginning at the 22 : 45 minute mark and then provide some supplemental sizing info at the 27 : 55 mark here:
      ruclips.net/video/YU9h6Z4-RIk/видео.html
      In case you are interested, I also have a short video on the materials and process I use to make my own decal sheets here:

      I’m not sure exactly, but a back-of-the-napkin calculation puts it at around 210 hours. I’m quite a slowpoke though as I tend to spend a lot of time doing reference research during builds. I put quite a few additional hours into photography and video production.
