Am I the only one who thinks GFL2 would make more money with a different monetization strategy?

The only reason PNC and GFL 1 are till alive is because the CEO and company owner is Yuzhong and this entire setting is his passion project. He basically siphoned his investment profits to keep both afloat until GFL 2 came along and made his personal venture actually profitable.
GFL2 made him profitable ? That's funny af. This guy is a legend.
I'd like to see a system where the first copy is 100% and then it changes to 75/25 or 50/50 for dupes.
🎉🎉 good idea
arknight endfield has it but not guaranteed later on, in fact its horrible for whale, for collector maybe is gokd, 80 in its 59 59 then the first 120 pull its guaranteed get then the extra 40 back to 59 59. its disgasteng
@@vf3yX5AB you can't whale for meta in that game tho, dupes are abysmally insignificant, so the fact that you're whaling there already means you know what you're getting yourself into (you're essentially just donating your money to the devs)
I'm pretty neutral about the gacha here, largely because of how good characters are out of the box. Yes people will tell me that x "requires" V1,V2,V6 etc. but I'm largely just gonna go about collecting the girls I really like casually. If I think their weapon or V1 will be super game changing (Makkiato comes to mind), then I might splurge if I really love that character. Otherwise tho, I just play it the same way I do ZZZ and HSR gacha. Accumulate pulls, assume terrible luck and hope I can get everyone I love off of only getting cards and battle passes
Personally I'm actually pretty optimistic over the gacha in GFL2, as a veteran gacha player, playing roughly 6 actively, and another 4-6 casually(yeah ik it's not healthy), but GFL2 is really generous with pulls and I'm honestly not even getting all the collapse pieces I COULD be getting like I usually forget expansion drills for example, etc. GFL2's gacha is a straight replica of hsr's gacha(which recently f'd me over giving me E3 Geppard). I got Daiyan like almost 2 weeks in and I've managed to save roughly 60 pulls already. Hopefully we do get to see some new ways to ply around with teams, which hopefully they release Leva soon so I can bring back Squad 404 as my main team for GFL2
I respectfully say...... god dam lol. I can barely play 2 anymore, used to play 3 tops. Kudos to ya. So. How do you get the freebie stuff for pulling for free? I am apparently missing something cause I struggle to get stuff or I have been UNHOLY lucky with my pulls x.x I have none of the "meta" girls so I hodge podge lol. Got like 3 Peritya though ❤😅
A little correction: The 50/50 system is NOT made by Hoyo, nor is it the WORST. If anything, the 50/50 IMPROVED Gacha systems.
Now I know there will be pitchforks pointed at me for saying this, but I played Gacha for almost 1 1/2 Decades now (started at 2009-2010), and boy, people take for granted what 50/50 has done right now. Before Genshin's rise with 50/50, there are two systems dominant in the Gacha scene. The "no-pity" FGO system (they did not start it but they are the most notorious for it), and the very skimpy one from HI3 that has a pity but it's so high, and it includes the weapon AND gear itself (which Snowbreak currently uses, but minus the gear part).
Now I'm not against improving from the 50/50, but I currently don't see any good alternatives to it. Snowbreak's systems MIGHT look good on the surface, but I kid you not, it can be more costly than the normal one at AVERAGE luck.
In the end of the day, we really just need to be mindful of how we spend. It's their job to make money, whether we like how they do it or not, but the decision to spend will always be ours.
nah the 50 50 if not for the counter, it is the worst but they improved it to have GUARANTEED if fail the early 50 50, they will 100% the next 50 50, the it resets again, if its just literal 50 50 there is a fine gradient of rng to Effed up your luck to ALWAYS LOSE 50 50
Hi3 average pity luck is same as HSR in my experiences.
The pros of hi3 is that it guarantee you get the char do you want. Since Genshin 50/50 and HSR I always on hard pity both character and weapon banner in hi3.
I rather disagree with FEH being a good system. What it resulted in was you needed to both roll the top tier units and you had to roll for skill fodder, meaning you had to roll a lot and your favorites often weren't the best even with skills, ending up as either skill fodder or useless. It's a very high churn game due to it's heavy pvp focus and heavy powercreep. Pretty much everyone I know that's left FEH has left it with a bitter experience.
Having played a lot of Gacha, I personally think that Arknights and Blue Archive have handled using just characters well. BA especially has a ton of different content that heavily emphasizes specific niches. So most every character fits into usage somewhere and few hard overlap and thus cause severe powercreep.
Fair enough. I also left FEH because I couldn't keep up with it. But I know the rampant powercreep in FEH didn't get completely out of hand until Year 3-4 where they started going crazy with skill stacking and then making PRF skills. Before this everyone was pretty happy pushing their favorites, but afterwards it got a lot harder to maintain. Personally I think FEH has a good system but IS went full mask off and did everything possible to ruin it.
I haven't played BA and AK so I can't comment on them.
Yeah, that's focusing on the customizability while ignoring powercreep out the ass because you just slap the best skills you can on the best units possible. Last I remember FEH is a miserable game to play now, because it is so PvP focused that PvE content has atrophied or worse, expects you to have PvP-tier units to fight units balanced around those units in PvE. If anything, FEH sounds like the "Bad future" result of GFL2. The only difference is that MICA wisely didn't put that much value in PvP. But it's still entirely possible to fall into that pit in a PvE focused game.
I think the elemental system was a mistake, because it's _too_ simple. I hate to say it, but I'd rather reactions or at least setting things up over basically mono-element content. For example, being on wet tiles adding a strong modifier to electric attacks, or Fire and Ice causing...I forgot the exact term, but the one from going from high heat to cold temperatures as a solid burst of damage like the extra damage some characters get ATM. Instead it's...basically a Fire Emblem system. Tells you what units to use, and emphasizes synergy in a game that even in CN doesn't have entirely full sets of mono-element teams, IIRC.
On one hand, in some ways GFL2 still feels like it's in a beta state, but on the other hand, I believe Yuzhong IS crazy enough to completely reinvent the game. GFL1 already, as frustrating as you find it, has changed systems wholesale in the past, for better or worse. We'll see what they do, and while it's not the example you'd want to use, their reaction to the "NTR" controversy says they're not above drastic changes to better the experience. Let's just hope this time it's to actually improve the game, and not to basically salvage a mess of a situation.
@TychoHoward FEH is pretty terrible now. The powercreep is so bad that when I tried it after a two-year break, I learned I was better off making a new account because my old units couldn't even take on the new PvE content because the new skills got THAT out of hand. Research online echoed that sentiment. So no I do not want GFL2 to become like FEH, but you can praise what FEH did well without endorsing the whole thing.
The element system is boring, 100%. But games use it because it's an easy way to add complexity while also delaying powercreep. Let's say there are two tanks. To oversimplify, Tank A reduces damage by 20% while Tank B reduces damage by 25%. Obviously you would always use Tank B. But if Tank A did 1.5x more damage to fire-weak enemies because they have fire attacks, Tank A isn't nessecarily a bad option now, just not the best option 100% of the time. I don't think elements are a bad thing overall.
@@HeroMysticLYX I think FEH's skill system is kinda inherently unhealthy due to encouraging pulling on more shit and just having more rolling be necessary in general. You both need to pull on units you want and fodder for skills. A new unit with a good skill shows up? Maybe need to roll a ton of them to hand out their skill to your roster. Also easily makes the value of the base unit just their stat total or move or whatever, which makes them feel pretty samey and bland while still encouraging meta base units.
Blue archive I feel handled elements well. They don't just have a red type unit and a blue type unit and one is effective vs the other. They split offense and defense, so you can have red atk but blue armor, which multiplied the varieties. You might have a great yellow dps, but with yellow armor they are unusable in one fight, so gotta bring in a yellow dps with blue armor instead.
YZ has gone on record many times saying that his "family business" keeps the games running. He's the son of someone with a lot of money and daddy pay the bills when he can't pay them himself which is why PNC and GFL1 are still running. You can't compare that sort of freedom with other companies who need to turn a large profit to keep running. This year Tourdog, a subsidiary of TenCent and the makers of Alchemy Stars had to shut down the game because it never really made a lot of money. And even then GFL1 had that issue where they couldn't renew their contract with their server hosting company in China, so the players there can't play the game. Idk if that has been resolved yet.
To me Tourdog was much like the old Mica team back when you had the OG devs working on the game. It was made by a passionate team that set out to make Kantai Collection with guns and a bit of a story, so it had 2,5m tall killer maids that lift their skirt so they can fill you with high tech laser bullets while you fight them with "outdated" weapons. As the years went on the devs left and founded their own studios and games, Arknights is one such example.
The, ugh, "Tarkov Mode", which is more of a Metal Gear light mode, has been in development for a long time and I don't trust the devs to turn out something good, you can check its bones as far back as a few cn betas or even in the first few alphas. It doesn't seem to have changed much since. I feel like the main issue with GFL2's development, and Mica team's games in general, is that, while the devs have novel ideas, they tend to fumble their landing.
Fairies and HOC com e to mind in GFL1. The Taunt fairy was op as all heck to the point that others couldn't compete and using it was necessary. Instead of moving away from making encounters that require it or releasing other Fairies that could compete, they abandoned that system releasing only "trophy" fairies for quite a while. Until they shat out the HOC system, which made the reliance on taunt even worse. Now you have two systems that are either completely busted or kinda useless. HoC take a lot of time and added resources to build, and you couldn't field them most of the time. Some maps where you could field them, they were useless and you'd rather do the puzzle without them. Puzzle which was the only way of 3 staring the map, and eventually the only way to clear the map. Meanwhile most Fairies were glorified stat boosters and only the rate up fairy, command and taunt were used. So much so that they had to make a balance pass on them, which changed very little, until they released that op wave fairy.
The issue lies in the design philosophy, if you make something complex you're likely to only be able to bandaid solutions on top of those systems. Mica team loves making puzzles, Bakery Girl is more of a puzzle game than an actual strategy rpg but while BG is a singleplayer game, GFL2 is a gacha game. It needs to keep it simple to appeal to casuals, so maps don't tend to be too complicated, but they still slap a puzzle in it, and now you are forced to interact with it. This creates frustration which lends credence to arguments like "you need a maxxed out 416" and now we have a problem. People will maybe pull for their favorite characters but will always have that argument in mind, keeping pulls for 416 ready. She drops and is completely busted, meanwhile any unit that isn't of the highest tiers is shoved to the side, meaning MICA team need to make even more overpowered units and the cycle continues. Issue is that there's only so much you can make with the complex systems in place before it become "nukes the entire enemy team".
People often point to HSR or ZZZ when talking powercreep but Hoyo's games are a bit more elegantly designed. HSR's systems are simple enough to build new systems on top. The first arc had simple mechanics that allowed for multiple kinds of teams to be viable. Penacony continued this trend though the meta was shifting heavily into Follow Up Attacks, until Firefly dropped and Super Break became a thing. Now we have the new content and a new meta looms, THerta is overpowered but she's particularly good due to the fact that the content is very much suited for her, she doesn't pull the same numbers in fights that aren't Ice weak. Just like how FF would be completely useless outside of fire content if she didn't have the fire weakness install, just look at how Rappa performs outside of imaginary content, she dips pretty low. And did FuA disappear? no. It's still very good, one of the top really, with a few teams suited for different content. Not only that but both base Herta and Himeko, two characters that were at the very bottom during the first year of the game are now incredibly relevant and have been for some time, not only that but thanks to newly released gear, appropriate content and supports, Jing Yuan, another trash tier character is having and absolute monster of a comeback.
In GFL2, the balance is a bit too fragile. One really good support will ruin everything (kind of like what Suomi did).
Lastly, we already have systems to keep your favorites relevant. Getting dupes and weapons is that system. People mald way too much about how many dupes you need for the content, they've forgotten that the built base character is the benchmark not the completely V6 max weapon. If you like UMP9, getting dupes for her will keep her relevant even though she's assumed to be a pretty bad unit.
the fxxxing essay bro im not reading all that
I'm slightly optimistic in GFL2's monetization even though a lot of systems are iterations of what HoYo popularized. One big difference is GFL2 selling skins, item bundles etc which takes the pressure off banner sales being the only revenue stream in each patch. HSR is probably a more extreme example of having their monetization be heavily dependent on banner sales, since I believe Genshin and ZZZ have begun experimenting on skin sales too.
Also, that new game mode you showed looks really cool, I think additions like that and the Dorm / Elmo system will encourage character and skin sales (they give players more things to do with their characters besides just fight), which hopefully helps diversify the revenue streams instead of relying solely on banner sales.
so it went full circle as mihoyo starterd using skin as its main monatization source initially
@@yokai1235 IKR, I was wondering why they were shying away from it for so long in their newer games when they've been pretty successful with it
@@FouCh-q2pbecause of their skin drama in hi3 ibv
hi3rd gave the dev trauma, I surprise it still supported and plan to continue story instead of your end it on finale.
I don't think it's the gacha system that's necessarily to blame here.
In my opinion the move to very high quality 3d is what's pigeon-holed them in this direction.
Don't get me wrong, I love how the girls look, the model and animation quality is INSANELY good.
But that also means that each character takes absolute AGES to implement and of course the costs associated with that have to be made back somehow so we got the hoyoverse banner treatment where characters are really frontloaded power-wise to incentivize players to spend. If a character release turns out to be a flop, that's literal months of development time from them down the drain.
I agree with you that the gameplay suffers because of this but at the same time I really don't have any idea how this could potentially be improved.
I guess a more cosmetics based monetization scheme could work but I can't see them making a change like that so late after release.
The eventual Elmo update? I would assume if any big cosmetic things happen it’d be for that maybe
is not even necessarily a problem as they can and will rebalance the stats of underpowered characters when their banners returns or new skin is made case and point tololo and mossing nagant
Reject 3D, return to chibi /s
I mean the game genre is by itself a pigeonhole
tactical isometric games like this can only do so much without ruining it
cosmetics based monetization would mean death for this game they would need marvel rivals market share numbers to justify that move and that means going up against the big boys
Ah no, they have models, but not that much animations and combat animations.
its turn based is not as impresssive as u make it to be for how they need ages to implement it
they have a few good animations for dorm, but the amount is super limited
its totaly different then something like wuthering waves where they also have world building to do vs just some visual novel with alot of the repeat yapping into it.
they have alot less resources to spend on a patch then some of the other gacha's out there
also gacha make way more money then regular games, if u cant return youre cost then youre just not doing very well in youre game design
but GF2 hit global quite positive so thats not an issue either
If gacha game gives me more pulls than it requiers for hard pity, then this gacha is worth playing
GFL2 gives you roughly 90 pulls without "Tarkov" mode per month, 100 with this mode, 80 is hard pity for characters
HSR and ZZZ gives you aroud 70 pulls per months, 90 is hard pity
Arknights Endfield, on beta test, you get 60 pulls per month, 80 is hard pity, 120 is guarantee for rate up character
For now let's hope we will get more different units, not just dolls, game just hit 1 year on cn, let them cook, gfl1 wasn't big when it first launched, every new system just grows on itself
I'd take GI model over most other alternatives, any day of the week.
You mentioned how it incentive powercreeps to sell new units. Thats true, but it's also true for every new gatcha. GI actually handles powercreep well imo. Yeah, people might complain about Arlecchino being powercrept by Mavuika, but point is - you don't NEED Mauvika to clear Abbys. You dont need most of top tier dps units. And you most definitly don't need any dupes. or signature weapons
HSR is far worse, to be sure. Part of it, is of course devs desire to sell new units. Part of it is, imo, combat systems. In an action games, you might get away with making more powerfull characters feel balanced if they are harder to play. It's harder in turn based game. You can put some limitations, like for example increase cost of skills, or make them slower to act, but this is much harder to balance than action game difficulty, I think.
It's not impossible of course. There is no reason to give one support Dmg buff, CD buff, ATT buff, more cd on follow ups, team-wide 100% action advance. And then next support has to compete with that. Same with dps units. Superbreak would be much more balanced if every unit from that archetype didn't had a way to completely ignore weakness types of enemy.
Still, you don't need dupes or signature weapons.
ZZZ I think is too early to say for sure, but there are soem worrign sings. Miyabi being so powerfull is worring sing, and power gap between her siganture and next best f2p options is very big. Then again - I don't have her siganture, and still have no problem clearing content with her. Hell, all of my main units are running on f2p gear.
Back to GFL2. I don't think current banner system, or making units much more powerfull with dupes is a problem. Sure, someone with V6 Klukay might be able to blaze through any content - but so what? They paid for it, so let them do it. As long as new content isnt balnced around you having curret OP unit at V6 with siganture, as long as they balance content around V0 units, I don't care how much power you get from dupes.
personally i think GFL2 can be an absolutely chill game if mica doesnt go full greedy. it definitely deserves expanding the complexity of combat for added variety. the only concerning part here is if they will start to neglect focus from PvE and double down on promoting PvP for the long term, and that’s no longer chill at all.
Honestly, I think they only have PvP just to have it. There's been no promotion for it at all.
@ platoon pvp is a pain tho, theres definitely pressure on the players to participate otherwise goodbye 500 cp. if you do participate, now the pressure is about performing well within top 10%. many people will not be admitting it, but the feeling fomo is ever present there, especially for players that counts every cp income. this chase for the top% definitely impacts long term platoon stability. id rather have them remove that, and instead have gunsmoke become a “rush the boss to 0 hp” event. performance of the platoon will be rewarded according to remaining hp of the boss.
@@FeixiaoWaiterif that kind of thing concerns you, gacha games maybe isnt for you, go pplay something elsez Guild Ranking is always a thing anywhere, maybe not on blue archive, but some games have them
Would be nice if the weapon banners are guaranteed, like it is in WuWa. Considering this game is dupe heavy, would be nice to alleviate the gacha woes in this aspect at the very least.
A lot of this can be temporarily swept under the rug if there is more flexibility in gameplay itself. More map hazards, holes on the ground and destructible cover for shotguns to exploit, verticality (preferably three layers), line of sight blocking terrain, et cetera. Clukay is so oppressive because there is no way to mitigate her massive, long range, AOE attack. If her attack was blocked by terrain, or if verticality minimized her potential targets, she wouldn't be so bad. Personally, I don't mind stomping PVE. It doesn't hurt anyone and, if I want a greater challenge, I can just swap units. PVP on the otherhand is only fun if there is at least the illusion of fairness. Having a whale pump up their unit to kill the majority of your team with one skill because they could drop $2000 on it is stupid. I've seen someone who did a Military Simulation on the Chinese server and the fact that a full stability, full health, team got wiped out with a single Clukay bike wave attack, WHILE IN COVER, is dumb
Sadly I don't see this happening at all. CN do not mind the current system and it's pretty much the standard to swipe for dupes and weapon over there. I know Global BTFO of CN in revenue recently but I don't see the Devs playing the Global audience any special treatment in terms of listening to our concerns/complaints.
Global i.e Japan where they also whale a lot. Also it was launch month and Mica did spend a lot of marketing and ads. 'Global' (EN) ppl think they can outspend the Asia markets where ppl still use F2P as a badge of honor here xD
The biggest problem with the gacha isn’t that GFL2 uses the Hoyo System, it’s that the system only allows limited characters to be available from their dedicated banner.
If limited characters entered the standard pool once their banner ends like in Blue Archive or Nikke, the designers would be relieved as they can assume more players would have access to a specific character and players would be relieved to know they can pull who they want, when they want.
All limiting characters does right now is create a sense of FOMO and inflate the game’s revenue only for it to nose dive whenever an unpopular or off-meta character is released. See Daiyan or any male character in Genshin Impact.
Hold up... Let him cook.
I get what you mean but limited characters in Blue Archive and Nikke don't enter the standard pool though, just new characters.
@@SkyeEclipse I agree. Unique characters are added into standard banner, not Limited characters.
They did add Faye and the CZ75s into the Standard Banner so that does seem to be a direction they’re going.
@@SkyeEclipse I mean only limited characters in nikke are limited to winter/summer and collab units
since i play a lot of games with the Genshin Formula, and also im a low spender, i dont mind at all about the gacha, i always play the same way: 1.- ignoring FOMO 2.- saving for my favorite units and 3.- set limits of how much investment i put in a unit. For example in Genshin i got C2 Raiden, C2 Zhongli, C2 Eula, etc, and each of them have their Exclusive Weapon R1, and thats it, i dont go for any more dupes, that for me (as a low spender) is my equivalent when a Whales get a unit to C6R6, and i dont mind, im happy having my units at V2R1 or just V1 (like Suomi or Makiato), since they already perform amazingly great at those levels and i dont care about getting more dupes (this is from a perspective of someone who just lowspends), so FOMO doesnt affect me and the concept of "powercrept" is meaningless for me since im happy by getting and playing with my Waifus and making tons of different teams of different elements and weapon-types.
casual aside my sweaty playstyle uses same lineup except after 2 yrs my eula became c6 to own any boss like my ganyu on first release since i knew she was the pick from her kit alone for dps checks on first launch and ganyu never fell off entirely still clearing abyss comfortably with reverse melt. Between c2 rai, c6 eula and ganyu genshin became too easy and eventually led me to quit.
I only pull for who I want/like in any gacha.. I don't care for meta. As of right now, I have no plans to get Suomi cuz I don't care for her. Also in genshin I don't have Arlechino,Nahida, Zhongli, or Neuvillette and I have no plans on getting them either.
Ye basically. The hoyo system is just antithesis to this tactics genre. Its not about rates or pity or any of that player greed nonsense. Its about kit design being strengthened to compensate for low unit count/customization
I agree that the V6 klukey problem exists. If you challenge that, anything else is unusable.
The survey mentioned a roguelike mode, I’m hoping that may offer some replay.
The first Gacha I've played for real was Arknights and I religiously play it because of how well the Gacha works. It ended up on the "Games I put money into more because I like playing them" Limbus company as well. I feel the Mihoyo Gacha system has become a problem in the industry tbh, it just limits everything so much. However I think it would be a bit more salvageable if the Standard banner keeps being updated with units that have been rerun. It makes the fomo more manageable since the player can wait for it and the game seems to be generous with the Standard pulls. Despite of all that I think Mica has done a very good job overall and the game doesn't feel as bad as some others I played and they keep pushing QoLs so I trust that they won't let the gacha become I problem and will make it healthier somehow
as much i hate gen, i think the system is pretty fair, if youre really play ak like you think you do, their gacha is terrible, Absolute Zero Pity
my main issue with gfl2 right now is after you've expended the initial surge of resources, building new characters becomes a massive chore. mainly the neural keys being largely locked behind performance in the boss fight mode. i only plan on playing the game casually enough to work through the story, but as it is right now, any new characters i pull are going to be held back by a weekly resource i can't even reliably get due to the necessity of building two teams in the later tiers
Fortunately the game lets you auto your best run. Just need to get on once a week and spend seconds on the auto. Then you wait for next week. At least the farming aspect ain't a chore.
@@kosmosXcannon that is true every resource you can just auto it which i appreciate
Wish gacha's games had lvl sync system like Nikke.
@@Rihardololz bless that system, pull and plug to synch machine
no? you can get neural core on Battlepass as well, you get 3 per month for f2p, if youre p2w you get 9 per month
boss fight gives 1 per week which is 4 per month, so if youre a HARD CASUAL then farm it on battlepass then? too slow? buy the battlepass, 2 months and already max 1 ssr, 8 core if you do boss fight.
3:25 mica living up to their name the roach of gacha games. I'm pretty sure mica will course correct because they always find a way to survive no matter how bad it gets.

I mean, assets wise, FEH units are also like, tremendously more easy to implement than a full on 3D hoyo style game, characters should take a lot of time and resources to produce, with all the animated trailers, etc.
The model works...and being honest? I rather take a hoyo style system where I only need like, 1-2 copies the vast majority of the character power spike than...the hell that I constantly go through in FGO, Now that gacha is pure hell.
Yeah, the community doesn't even joke about whaling for PNGs anymore because 3D models have become the new baseline. Never played FEH but that idea was cool though, for whichever context / game it can work well in.

Saying powercreep is an issue in this game is a little bit weird
Sure a V6 Springfield or Klukay is absurd. Characters like Suomi, Vector etc have the bulk of their power into V1.But if you are to analyze raw V0 dolls, they are fine and balanced.
Klukay can only do mobbing. Suomi can't heal, so mistakes can be punishing. Springfield's synergy with Tololo is restricted. The game doesn't seem super endgame focused since it's easy to complete and accessible. Unless you feel like competing with whales for meaningless guild points
At V0s I mostly agree that everything is balanced (Mosin is still grossly underpowered), but my overall point about powercreep is with the way how the game is designed right now, its an issue if powercreep does happen, as the game will have to rebalance itself to compensate for that. Dupes are part of this conversation because we can reasonably get them, and YZ has (apparently, at least according to Prywden) already taken note that V6 Klukai destroys the game and he considers it immersion breaking.
@@HeroMysticLYX I think V6 units doing stupid things has been present for a long time. Problem for me is current endgame mode that is guild Boss emphasize too heavily on only dmg output.
MICA needs to implement another endgame mode where the enemies aren't just DMG sponges, and emphasize a lot more on other aspects of units like healing, positioning, kiting etc etc
I think a good example is their other IP, Reverse Collapse repeatable endgame mode where you need to kite and position different enemy spawns accordingly. gfl1 ranking maps as well to a certain extent, where team building for different spawns is considered
Power creep will always be in games like these. its how they generate revenue. But if they should take any pointers i would point towards punishing gray ravens if anything. just by doing dailies and weeklies you can get every character and there isnt a 50/50 for a new character, its always 100%. dupes in pgr allow ppl to compete in leaderboards but are not necessary to clear normal content. they are however needed to use a character for extended on-field times. (my SSS+ Crimson Weave says hello). they would do much better with skins and small micros (say they made it so you can buy for a dollar or two some dorm furniture and customize your dorm).
everyones got their own opinions but this one is mine. I'd like to see the gacha system be more like PGR than Hoyo.
The more I play PGR, the more I appreciate it's gacha system. In other games, I typically just horizontally invest by getting one copy of each new character. But I was happy to get my Luna Oblivion to SSS rank because it feels fair and I don't feel financially rekt. I'd never do that in any other gacha game because of 50/50s and shit.
@@sussybaka7150 i got my Weave to SSS+ by saving for over a year starting Liv Empys patch. just barely had enough to get her SSS+, max reso weapon, and 1 copy of her bike. but since then ive had no problems clearing even the most difficult content. I "accidentally" cleared Clash Reflection and people were screaming at me that only less than 1% of ppl could full clear it. let alone get the 120s bonus requirement. The Storm came home and god I love the thunder.
I just want XCOM gameplay. I want the third person view when shooting from both sides (Or at least only the dolls) not the top view camera view when shooting enemies. We only get the third person view when the doll moves but not always. I want bigger maps and more aesthetic build maps. The current maps and props are just copy and pasted multiple times around the small map it looks crappy. Wooden short cover isn't destroyable, like come on man. If they can implement XCOM decent size maps and fog vision (like you can't see were all the monsters are at) it would be a gorgeous game.
1st of all its a gacha game, obv its small scale of its og game mechanic, 2nd of all, fog of war? are you effung serious, you really dont want that and the nicher the game olayer will not like it, i like it but the rest wint like it
@vf3yX5AB bro, "it's a gacha game" is not an excuse for gameplay/anything to be ass. That has been the go-to main excuse for people in major gacha games. Give me an actual reason.
Yes, fog of war. Right now, the small maps, seeing all the enemies being at arms reach. Make the game get repetitive extremely fast and boring. Having fog of war naturally adds suspense/tension. Cause you don't know where they are at, but it only works in bigger maps and having further view than attack range for it to be done right.
ZenlessZoneZero and Wuthering Waves fantastic games that are "Gacha games," yet they look absolutely gorgeous, and their gameplay is fantastic. Girls Frontline 2 has gorgeous models, but if that is all they have, this game will stay mid and have poor player retention. I'm not demanding much here they need to massively improve gameplay to pass that threshold.
@@Corteslatinodude i wont argue on you for the first one, because its the dev whos making the game, nothing will change whatever i say here.
i know youre too comparing this with xcom abit too much, but games with fog of wars doesnt even have that much of a large map often, fire emblem wasnt even as big as xcom and its still hard to maneuver with fog im sure suspense/tension is just an excuse, im sure youre Bruteforcing everything no strategy no tactic whatsoever, because thats what i do when it gets Too Much, you and i arent that different, we all get tired when it comes to it, i like gfl2 now.
zzz and wuwa is gorgeous but thats just it, nobody cares what the scenery has to offer, well some interactables like boats is cool and all, all the npcs walking but thats it, its just a first time thing, youll get bored of it.
im not a gamecreator or anything and i dunno how to Improve the game any way, but fog will drive people away from the game due to its very niche, you dont think all the tourists that left the game isnt because its like xcom niche?

"too comparing this with xcom abit too much"
Because XCOM looks great, map design is great, and the gameplay is good. Its like having a standard. Fire Emblem is also a another great game, the map design on Fire emblem is *chef kiss* outta this world even if the graphics are low, the debris makes sense, the trees makes sense, the staircases make sense, the building make sense, etc. The camera shift from top view down to third person view when attacking is amazing. The map isn't that big but its much bigger than GFL2.
How does GFL2 compare to these games that set the standard so high. Map design copy/pasted wooden fences on a highway road map and metal platforms that have no point in being there in the first place but are there for "cover". It would make more sense for a doll to run on top of a truck to get the high ground than stand on these random platforms that just exist there. The maps designs are high graphic yeah, but the design is ass. The camera shift view like come on. Third person view only when moving from tile to tile then top view when shooting? XCOM, Fire emblem always had the third person attacking view which is just better. Maps so extremely small you can run across it in 3 turns if there wasn't any spammed copy/pasted debris all over the place.
"nobody cares what the scenery has to offer, well some interactables like boats is cool and all, all the npcs walking but thats it, its just a first time thing, youll get bored of it."
BS, this is what makes the game stand out. It makes it immersive and when you go play another game without it. It makes those games look pale in comparison it just makes the world feel dull and that is the issue im having with GFL2 map designs they don't even come close to XCOM or fire emblems which has low graphics.
" I'm sure youre Bruteforcing everything no strategy no tactic whatsoever, because thats what i do when it gets Too Much, "
No, nothing like you in fact. My main team is Groza, Nemesis, Cheeta , Lotta(vepley if boss event. Stability issues swap with Colphne)
my second team for boss is Pertiya, littera, (lotta is placed here), Colphne (very good team imo, lots of aoe for mobs.)
I bet campaign around I think 10-15 levels below idrc. I didn't pull for anything cause i was new and had no idea who was good or not. I'm pulling for Suomi this round she is busted in PVP like wtf. I'm level 60 commander now. I like the challenge which is why i didn't farm any attachments until I hit, level 43 i think it was. I farmed neural helix material instead. Until i unlock the second to last of the attachment drops.
@@Corteslatinodude i dunno if bigger map is possible since we only get 15 turns max unlike FE or xcom whichs 99 turns max, the highest turn ive seen in the game event was 20 turns and its still small map with roundabout confusing pathways just to get across, yea increase the turn then maybe its possible, then again its a gacha version, its just a borrowed mechanic.
i might agree on the 'scenery' part, gfl2 looks abit bland but maybe thats how the world is, and thats a two different game, it should not be comparable, or maybe its dull because the world setting is just like that, wuwa is post apocalyptic concept. zzz is like abit of Steampunk, in fact i hear some people rants wuwa map looks dull but thats just because the world concept is like that, all in all but at least the feet is amazing quality. we will get a Elmo free roam update soon(?), maybe thatll change your mind.
can't say much on the last part, the campaign is abit soso easy, the Peak Value Assessment is where you start to rack your brain power.
One thing they could do is improve the nodes system. If they make a character's node worthwhile, it would mitigate the future powercreep because you could just put it on your favorite doll and make her more viable.
thats what they do in cn, arr you not keeping track on the news at all?
Coming from GFL1, i actively wanted them to monetize the second game more effectively. However, i never expected them to do the genshin gacha system which is on the worse end. I play both Nikke and GFL2 and surprisingly i feel like the overall monetization in GFL2 is a lot worse than Nikke. Totally agree on the balance. Having certain units makes even current content go from almost impossible to a cake walk. It is impossible to balance. Being able to borrow a unit does help on content that allows it though.
3:22 I had no idea thats what you meant by, "funded by hopes and dreams". lmao
ide say your reasoning is sound. I hope they do change the gacha system to hopefully circumvent power creep in the long term.
Do you think they'll add a way to farm key's like other equipment in for example hoyoverse games?
That game mode you showed where you can freely control your units reminds of the old school MGS VR missions lol
I’m collecting all of the Dolls. If I lose a 50/50 then I’ll just wait for a rerun. I don’t want to stress over losing something out of my control. So far I’ve been lucky and gotten everything I’ve wanted. I also spend but only for outfits and a month pack.
Me too man, although I don’t buy cosmetics, because I’m f2p
I like the 100% banner in Snowbreak, but I also liked the code-pull system that GFL1 had in some ways because the overall feel of inputting a code-set and targetting specific doll types just felt more immersive, that said, there simply aren't enough dolls to make a 9-9-9 lock code system work imo for GFL2 without them significantly boosting the roster of dolls.
Something I love about Snowbreak is that they don't gate the story behind banner pulls. They literally give you trial near-max lvl versions of the banner character, just for the story itself. The only area of the game that you would need to whale for is the Neural-Sim boss ranking, and everything else is just for the fun of it. Since that's the case, I just don't worry about NS rankings. I also don't worry about mil-sim rankings in GFL2. I get my collapse pieces for participating, and then just stop doing it till the next reward set.
If GFL2 winds up gating the story behind banner pulls I'll 100% quit though. I don't mind spending a little here and there but I give myself a budget: $15 a month on any and all videogame related things combined. The story itself is the reason I play the game, the gameplay itself is secondary to me, so if I get gated out of the story if I don't spend XYZ then I'm just out.
You misunderstand about the success of Genshin and the 50/50 gacha system.
The success is not only because of the 2020 covid but also because of the triple-A budget Gacha that has never done before. The result of the success makes the majority of the player base casual who have not played any Gacha before. And that player base will only play triple-A budget Gacha or to be more precise a Gacha that has high-definition Characters. Because of this, the production value of GF2 is higher than normal Gacha games like GF1 or Fire Emblem Heroes. The 50/50 is a necessity for the production cost(I'm not saying it's a good system, yes, it's predatory but this is the only reason the characters are so detailed)
GF2 majority playerbase is not GF1 but Genshin/Hoyo games. This is the reality. They just want relaxed gameplay and enjoy the characters. Many will complain about the powercreep/imbalance but if the developer gave the playerbase what they wanted, in the end, they will swipe.
You can't compare GF2 with Fire Emblem Heroes anymore.
I mean old GFL have power crept in the doll itself aka the SCAR sisters is the prime example and they do make old doll being good with 7th mod key with QJ and Tololo and MICA like to gauge doll power on how much present they are in story and how community like the doll as a whole
Yeah, gfl1 had major power creep issues for sure. It's the big reason why I think it's worth talking about for gfl2.
I think the best thing they could put into the game is a way to farm for the fortifications like how they do in sword of Convallaria. For those who never played it essentially in sword of Convallaria you only need to pull for the unit once and after that you can farm for the dupe shards daily. It wouldn’t hurt the sales too much (I hope) and it would allow people to get the units they want without forcing them to pull for dupes for a certain upgrade.
and it keeps people playing because they will grind for it
It would hurt sales by quite a bit. SoC intentionally backloads dupe power to spike at 3 and then 5. Farming to 3 is perfectly reasonable, but taking a character to 5 that way takes many months. Having the "real" version of some characters not be accessible until 5 gives whales a reason to whale, while having that smaller power spike at 3 makes F2P still feel like they can get somewhere without pulling dupes. It's their solution to keep two sides of a playerbase happy, since they know they're a small game in a big pond as far as gachas goes.
GFL2 frontloads power spikes into the first or second dupe because they want the low spenders and even the F2P to feel like they need the dupes. Every dupe you convince somebody to get is effectively as profitable as an entire banner character - it costs as at least as many pulls to get a dupe as it does to get a new character in the first place. It's a stupidly easy way to jack up profits for very little cost. But this system does not work at all if the first few dupes are easy to just farm for - a low spender or F2P is simply not going to waste pulls. And if they do what SoC does and backload the power spikes to the later dupes then it's the same deal, the low spender and F2P might chase v1 or v2 but they are not going to bother with dupes at all if it feels like it takes too many to get anything good.
Snowbreak does this too and they make up for it with a lot of cosmetics per patch. Some characters are gimped until they get 1-2 dupes though.
GFL1 has that to and gfl2 has something similar we're apparently you can get 30 dupe shards for one Dupe.
i think any gacha system, even shitty ones like hoyos as seen in gfl2, can be fine so long as enough pulls are given out to compensate, right now I feel like gfl2 should give more pulls per patch, they are very generous with the one time pulls, but the reoccuring ones like dailies and weeklies and events dont feel like it will be enough in the long run. They can easily get away with being more generous because the skins are so monetizable, I myself have already purchased over 4 skins and would prefer that be their main way of making money
I think the point of the video though is that the system itself affects how they have to design the characters, the difficulty, and how they can manage powercreep while keeping new characters desirable. You could double the number of pulls they give out and it would still have the exact same issues on how it affects the overall game design.
To me:
A bit of SB style approach to some sub-features of the Units.
The Dupes to level the V0 to V6 should be given a F2P farm method, 1-2 frags a day, and limit how many units can be farmed a day.
Weapon, throw out the SR option out the Wpn banner, add it to an Event store (and later to a shop where you can spend a big frontload of SG to buy the SRs you missed or dupes to level it).
Put a 100% chance banner option, so anyone only wanting a V0 copy can just math the rolls on said 100%, while those who want to V6 would either math the insane costs or try their luck in the 50/50.
Alternatively, do the Nikke method. Add all units to the common pool, and the player can select any of them for the 50/50 selector. Buff those mileage tokens, so the Blue ones (where you mostly spend them for those extra tickets or resources) allow buying frags to upgrade the V level, while the golden ones just let you BUY copies of the Banner doll. So this allows those who spend semi-regularly to build a pool of a resource to at least guarantee them a copy (and dedicated ones or loot goblin level maniacs to save enough to V6 two or maybe five different banners).
Those are my opinions on how to adjust thw Gacha and adjacent features.
I think some adjusting of the numbers and percentages of the gacha would make it more acceptable. Weapon banners should have a 100% guarantee for the SSR. Perhaps the devs could add some rare generic material you get when pulling the gacha and/or through events to unlock the next dupe of any character of your choice that you have, including SSRs.
Gacha games are kinda like the fast food version of videogames, so we kind of know what to expect. It's lame but it's just how it is. Hopefully the power creep isn't too egregious in the future.
I'm sorry but your argument makes no sense in relation to the need of pulling for new characters. You need to pull in Fire Emblem Heroes too you can just transer the stats. So it comes down to whether you like collecting new waifus or upgrading the old ones. Also last time I played Fire Emblem Heros (it was ages ago) it had this terrible mechanic where each pulled Hero had a hidden growth boost to 2 of their base stats which could completely turn a unit useless if it was for the wrong stats (in most cases not atk or speed). Also the speed stat that allows for double attacking is just plain broken in that game and renders healers useless (well this was the case years ago maybe in the meantime they've releases new heroes or added new mechanics to combat this problem).
A Hoyoverse gacha system wouldn't have been so bad if not for these issues:
1) SR characters are seriously underpowered: I have yet to see anyone being able to clear all of PvE content with just free units.
2) Specific SSR units are required with no replacement: In the last Projection Space event, to beat the boss down to below 40% HP, you must have Suomi, she's the only one who can effectively clear the global ATK debuff. I can't say for sure this will happen to other events in the future but this is how things currently are.
3) The game forces you to compete with whales: Even if you ignore PvP, you still have to compete with other richer guilds in Gunsmoke for gacha rewards.
4) Game mechanics are underutilized: A clear example is Vepley, she can pushes enemies into holes and would have been a great tool for F2P players, but Mica decides to put barriers everywhere so now she has to compete with other DPS units.
2: i feel the difference is we got last projection WAYYYY to early . compare to CN , many day 1 player like myself were barely reaching level 50 by the time we got it . hence we were reliant on suomi . CN were already well establish level 60 team when it release if memory serve me right .
3: where does it force you ? my guild last run had wayyy too many people low level and folk who didnt do their gunsmoke . and we have 1 dolphin...that it... we got top 8% reward , for 50gem lost ? we calling this force to compete?!
Dw or haoplay? @@Amazingpatt
Brother, your 1st point is not good, baselines of the game are low enough for SR to be usable, I only play SR dolls. Players are just meta slave so it's expected to see everywhere there're always SSR dolls in gameplay.
Why do I only use SR? That's how I measure the level of quality they will do with their so called "tactical" thing. If in the future it turns out I can't do things solely due to the lack of stats, I will just leave.
For the concern about "just free units", well I know 1 on RUclips, his channel is "gacha gacha gacha" but sadly only 7 subs so it's hard to find.
What I mean is right now your 1st point shouldn't be mentioned, because the game's state hasn't reached that yet.
For the 3rd point: I believe many have the same thought as mine, which is the rewards aren't worth trying for.
Some info about your 2nd: I didn't play, I did open and see that it required multiple dolls, while only SRs aren't enough, I planned use some standard SSRs but in the end, totally forgot about the event. So yeah I can't say about that, but I do think it was too soon for the game.
4th: Agree 2 hands 2 legs.
@ dw
First point is straight up just wrong. Lotta and Sharkry are really good characters that beat out many SSRs. Groza, Nemesis, and Cheeta are also really good.
"Suomi V1 powercept all healers"
>open gfl2
>look inside
>only 2 SR healers
Sure, you can make an argument that CN has 2 SSR healers, but Cent is a direct upgrade of Ksenia for a fire team and Springfiled is another super strong at V1 unit. So she really only powercrept Colgate, a free unit. Saying she powercrept all healers is disingenuous.
You're right in saying the others still have their niches intact, but when it comes to healing and survivability, Suomi made a big gap that Mica had to account for going forward. The healing role was fairly limited beforehand.
Yeah, and even when Springfield does come along it's still not absolute powercreep because we need sustainment for multiple teams. When I get Springfield I won't be sidelining Suomi. Heck, even Ksenia will probably still see action.
@@HeroMysticLYX in terms of healing/offensive, I'd say Cent is pretty close. And you have to pull Suomi twice to get that effect.
And besides, just like the other guy said, her being good doesn't mean that you can just pull her twice and forget about healers. You still need to sustain another 1-2 teams.
I'd even argue that V1 actually balances her to be more on par with other core element team supports, since they have more healing in their kits at V0.
V1 Centaur is a waste of 2 limited hits in global. Her performance gap between V6 Ksenia is too small. The ice healer/shielder V1 Soumi cannot be compared to Centaur because there is not decent ice healer/shielder SR character in the game, not will there ever be because no new SR.
If you look at CN banners right now, is clear that some limited units are broken and some are mid. Pulling mid stops you pulling broken. So skip v1 centaur l, wait for more broken. Get klukai V6 don't settle for v3, get the new top tier fire unit that powercreep klukai some dupes too. Centaur is a waste of pulls like most characters in this game for global.
So my main game before this was Alchemy Stars, which came out about 5 months after Genshin. They had about 214 characters when the game hit EoS. (Each mission required 5 teams, and there were four elements) You only pulled units, and they came in 4 levels of rarities, three to 6 stars. You only needed 4 dupes to max out the character. (In 3.5 years I have only done this to 2 characters.)
TL;DR SSRs were 2.0%, after 60 pulls each pull added 2.5%, SRs were 10%, while Rs were 30%. You had 50-50, but they later added wishlisting Then it reset the pity back to 60 pulls. They didn't do the "Pull 10 get at least one R", but they promised an SR in the first 10 pulls of a banner."
The part of the current GFL2 system I'm not a fan of is how the pity increases with each SSR pull That only makes me want to pull for each SSR once and then once on the weapon banner since it's a separate pity.
At least the SSR weapons are better than the R weapons out of the box. Instead of needing 1-2 calibrations to be better than a filled calibrated rare.
One thing I hope GFL2 doesn't do is add something that doesn't add to the existing gameplay and would bloat the game to twice its size.
Something to point out ... Peritya is amazing at v0 so saying her kit is lock behind dupe is bad information . peritya JUST suck atm period even if she was v6... she is lock until klukai release lol .
I would like to see Mayling’s air strike like in the beginning of the game added to the game as kind of a “Commander’s Ultimate ability” in sort of a “kill # of enemies to use”
I would like to see them eventually rotate out some of the characters you can get from the standard banner. Maybe allow the older banner characters to be put in if you max out the duplicate bonus of one of the standard banner characters.
I like Snowpoint's system where you can slowly upgrade characters without relying on banners. It's only problem was that it's progress for even one dupe was extremely slow. I feel like it could be implemented without reworking the entire gatcha, since some characters already work like that to get; notably Papasha.
It would allow some people who can't whale to instead, slowly V7 their favorite characters without relying entirely on terrible 50/50s
As long as the new overpowered units turn the game into easy mode instead of becoming the new baseline then I don't have a problem with the powercreep. The problem I do have is getting new characters but having to pull in the weapon gacha for their purple weapon. I hope this issue has been solved in CN by putting a copy in the event shop and global is just waiting for the fix.
My only opinion on there gotcha is I like that if I loose the coin flip once I will get it next time.... My luck is bad often on being on banners, for instance once in Arknights on a limited banner, I did not get a banner unit till the 6th 6 star I pulled, that is slightly less then a .2% probability (.3*.3*.3*.3*.3*.7=.0017).
I would love for more customizations to characters, like accessories or variant gun options.
I think you bring up a good point. The game has so much potential to be a decent strategy game with an adequate amount of depth, but the frontloaded characters basically trivialize all of the interesting mechanics. Pointing the blame to the gacha system seems justified since these games are essentially designed entirely around the business model. Even if they address the gacha though, I do question how much challenge they'd be willing to implement into the base game. This is still a mobile title that has to appeal the most casual of players and a strategy title seems completely antithetical to the genre you'd use to peddle such a game to a wide audience. More customization for playstyles would be a nice start. I don't really think common keys are enough to keep characters flexible and interesting for different scenarios, though.
i would love to see the pgr system debut banner has a 100% rate up so in this case solo banner then afterwords pgr doesnt rerun the charater as a banner instead they give you a rotation banner that gives 3 limited units you pick one and you get a 70% chance rate up and the weapons are always avavible at a 80% chance rate up even after the banners leave would i perfer to see just 100% rate up all the time yes but i dont see it happening
they already did in cn but its a one tine thing with a selector banner
Insane idea, wasn't aware of it, and really cool too! I wish more game had it. As for gfl2 I think that cores are too scarce and there should be a way to refund them from useless/powercrept dolls, weapon banner should be guaranteed at least for the 1st copy, same for the character banner. Buuut, I don't think they'll do it at this point, sadly :/
I'm also neutral about gacha games for gfl2 especially cus they've been giving us quite OKAY giveaway n bunch diamonds eventho I do hope for the first gacha I prefer 100% chance on getting it BUT after u get em u want their dupe 50:50s are coming after it cus for an f2p it's better like this so we can also enjoy the character eventho it's not as powerful as the V3/6 ones but it's better than doing genshin type of pity eventho they has some good points on making that gacha system cus some games u need to pull to 100-200 to get the pity and somehow the pity didn't transfer so Im not having that much issue with that
I feel like Mica running into power creep issues has been just an expected issue with their gacha systems unfortunately. It’s just hard for them to make a balance between profit and forgivingness to balance it without the risk of consequences. I do want to note that neural cloud somehow deals with the power creep decently compared gfl2 with its gacha system. Are there meta characters in neural cloud that incentivizes you to pull for? Of course. But does it somehow make players go back and build characters they don’t often use in late game? Somehow yes. I don’t know the specifics of how they did this in their stages since I’m not a stats nerd but I had to build some characters I never bothered to focus on which was also easier to do since you can farm fragments for neural expansion instead of only dupes being the only way to do it like in gfl2, deviate away from meta a bit, and even focus more on the functions I picked in each stage. They basically made meta not be a brainless team pick and forced players to actually pick different characters to puzzle together a team that would work lol. What I’m basically just saying that I have some optimism to how mica will handle the power creep and gacha in gfl2 given that they have turned meta completely upside down before to make lower tier characters usable and unique stages in the late game with no hesitation. They could add the fragment farming system from neural cloud with adjustments to character and weapon gacha to still incentivize transactions still so that underused characters can be built more easier and meta characters can be slowly built for f2p but whales will still be overpowered. It would be possibly still hard to still reel in profit from a system like that though even with cosmetic transactions relieving it unfortunately and would be a risk to take so we will see how Mica handles this :p
They are already deep into the release so making such a considerably major change is not a prefreable thing to execute. But they can, after a certain point of time, add extra type of gacha pool that allows for pulling previously limited characters in a separate banner. Arknights did roughly the same thing where on top of adding a subsystem that only allows as much as situational tweaks to their Operators, they also added an extra banner to separate older high-rarity Operators into their own pool away from the Standard and Time-Limited pool that will have latest and also the relatively newer Operators in the same pool.
This significantly cuts down the clutter that would have happened if they did not do so for the Standard and Time-Limited banners. In GFL2, maybe a technically similar banner can be added with its own pool that would permanently include older Dolls that were time-limited to give players a chance at making their favorite Dolls relevant again by being able to pull for their dupes. It will gradually add "new" Dolls over time very slowly. One caveat would be that if you really want to pull for a Doll's dupe and not have the time during their rate-up, you'd have to wait for them to be added into this banner. One challenge this game would have to overcome is that they should stop or tone down the power-creeping from Dolls that incidentally cause more brutal power scaling in response to the game's contents.
P.S I turned off my brain while thinking of something that might solve or mitigate this problem so I won't be surprised if there's any correction or objections heading my way.
the only objection i has is your unnecessary essay
@@vf3yX5AB Oh thank God 🙏
I imagine it is possible to change the gacha system and still stay financially afloat but it's gonna take some real creativity. For example, the Elmo currently doesn't have any benefits to the combat at all. Now imagine you can periodically have the Elmo use special abilities to benefit the dolls on the field. Think could take the form of one time use buffs, bombing a few squares, or a quick heal. I imagine they could find ways of monetizing such systems without being too crazy.
For example using the above system, artillery support could be usable 5 times a day normally and only once per combat normally. The paid option in this might be tier monthly costs that say a $3 per month gives 10 uses and twice per combat (purely example and not ideal as p2win though gacha is a p2win system inherently). Ultimately if they could get a pseudo subscription system going and keep users paying they could potentially ease up on the negative aspects of the gacha systems.
TBH it makes sense since at the very begin of the game you do somewhat control a drone and fire a missile at the Varjagers. Like it is there...
I'm not sure how a system like that can be monetized without it being p2w, but the concept itself is a good idea. In gfl1 there were mechanics like this, they were just badly implemented.
@@LetoShade they used to do that in CBT but CN saw it as a crutch options so MICA removed it entirely
so... the main Disease still lies in CN people all in all, every change, every improvements.

Yeah its not good but after playing multiple other gachas with even worse standards its hard to complain anymore
I play FGO and it is really hard to be a worse gacha than that. They probably exist, but FGO is more well known.
FGO is the quintessential problem JP game devs have when making a Gacha.
The design is entirely aimed at being predatory and an unrepentant Money sink that entraps through Sunken Cost Fallacy.
99% of the JP developed Gachas are that BS. No Pity or one set to values only Whales would consistently hit, excessive grind, levelling is more of a daily job than a game...
JP has practically LOST any chance to be a player in the Gacha industry by being both overly niche, stagnant, and predatory.
I have my gripes with the likes of Blue Archive (they hardly if ever add older (as in 1.5yrs old already) banner students of specific events/alts, a Malding fest PvP you need to play for the max Pyroxenes monthly F2P income, an FGO tier Spark Pity and throwing 2+ must have Aniv student banners) and Nikke (AAAA+ Game priced Costumes, no reservation on exploiting FOMO for them, BP costumes that never rerun or are made available in the store, the multistage progress locks, Lv160 barrier and the 5 Nikkes at MLB (aka 3 dupes fed) barrier), but FGO has been forever my "Don't play out of principle for how they disrespect my time and money".
They could put more emphasis on Limited Character Common keys to use with other characters. They could even put them in a gacha if they wanna be cheaky. Also they could make a battlesuit system like in Honkai Impact where you can Pull on new kits for older units.
Nice video, i do agree with you on the "hoyoverse" banner style, it doesn't feel "motivating" as most of times we need more than 1 copy of the doll in the banner; while Mihoyo/Hoyoverse has Honkai Impact 3rd with banners similar to Snowbreak, where we are guaranteed to get the character within 100 pulls and there's no 50/50, mihoyo also did a poor job at keeping the meta balance, most of new characters on the game powercreep 95% of the previous characters, plus, if you get more than 3 copies (+1-star rank-up) they just break the game, as wherever you look on the game they're on top of leaderboards, that's why i gave up after 5 years playing, at some point i was spending too much just to keep up on the gamemodes that gave currency to pull on new banners... I would like to see something like Brown Dust 2 is doing, or Nikke... but that's only hope for now...
In GFL you are generally spending money for skins. Even other gachas don't hide the fact that alt skins are just a different unit entirely. The fact that MICA does this adds to its charm. There are people that are trying to say it's not F2P to buy skins. You can argue that it isn't but it's not P2W. MICA found a nice common ground between P2W and F2P. No other gachas do this model of business. I understand the shift between GFL1 to NC model of pulling. GFL1 couldn't just sustain itself on the skins market the way it was done. It just was way too generous. NC does a similar model of business closer to 2 which is the backbone, but it was too much of an auto battle. Even then it was still considered way too generous in terms of business because you could just buy dupes with in game currency. You can see the business decisions being made between the games. Even the business decisions before releasing a game. The precursor to the NC pull system is Protocol Assimilation in 1. It's a very honest linear line of thinking.
Power creep was a very real thing in all of the games. The meta changed in comparison to what was being done on the developer's side, but that didn't change that it was still there. GFL1 has a complete overhaul on how bamboo rifles worked. It was a huge nerf. There is also how ARSMG teams dominate the meta.
Now to talk about the bottom of the barrel unit type, machine guns. This unit type was so expensive to craft and field with very little use for them. It got to the point of being called a noob trap. They were considered unplayable for the most part. Even where we are right now in the story machine guns have so little use. However, the tank for those teams were still being used and out of the 40 shotguns only 5 are viable units. Even with ARs and RFs, which are the meta DPS units, are subject to the same discrepancy.
Units are the merchandise to be sold for gacha. How else are the devs supposed to showcase a new unit other than their skills and interactions. The reason why Fate and Fire Emblem has a fan following for their units is because of the previous established franchise. In any other gacha it is story prominence or the meta for character fans to be established.
Fans of GFL1 have their favorites, but it follows the meta, memes, or story progression. In GFL2 you have new fans and old giving a sense of diversity. The new players don't know who to like so the latch onto either the meta or story. Veterans still latch onto who they oathed. However, why did the veterans latch onto those characters? It wasn't the character archetypes of those characters that attracted them. It was their strength as a unit. The frequency that a unit was seen plays a role in that. The meta increases that frequency and anchors the thought that the unit is strong.
I have no issues but one the stamina tickes that you get five times a day if you don't used them up it's gone I have no problem If it accumulated over time I play lots of gacha games that's it's hard to mange I will miss on grinding out everything in the shop I hope they somehow changed it because it's really affecting my motivation to play the game 😔
I just want harpsy (10 years later TMP)
Crazy idea here so hear me out:
What if they allowed you to disjoint the passive from a unit and let you swap it between your other characters at Lesser efficiency?
Say I have a Sharkry and I have a Krolik and I yank Krolik's passive Embers out and put it on Sharkry.
I like the concept but the passives are too hyper-specific to the doll. It'd be better served on their inherited key.
Let's not talk about having to save up 300 pulls for a spark in Granblue and most power being locked behind super new meta meta characters and getting dupes of weapons and farming for years to get mats.
Imo banner system is fine if they tune content to be realistically clear on a F2P account. Making different modes where it can really challenge you for extra rewards or simply for bragging right would be nice too since it was the thing peopled meme about 0 cycling in SR content.
I would like to see a larger map like in XCOM2 where you want to have a more tactical and methodical approach to handling encounters.
Probably unpopular but 3d models should have been kept as later boosts to certain popular girls after a while. Everyone else is live2d or something to have more of a middle ground between a small potentially limited appeal roster of dolls vs. gfl1s too many useless fodder dolls.
In addition, they had a slam dunk for a better gacha system by taking what worked for other games (and their own) and what didn’t due to long term effects but decided to fumble it so hard chasing the money hoyo printed. But the thing is gfl will never be hoyo popular.
I disagree with a very large portion of the things you've said, however; I would to encourage you to not only list your grievances and concerns, but to put forth solutions & suggestions on how to solve them.
Just V1 your characters that you like, and you don’t even need their signature weopon to make them powerful, better than GI’s gacha system where most characters are useless nowadays
Neural Upgrade 2.0: Electro Boogaloo.
Only to get Powercreep'd by a new MODIII.
Coming from FGO. It is pretty hard to have a worse gacha than that. Then there is Arknights a gacha that I think is one of the best ones. Not sure how viable it is because of the 3d assets in this game.
I have multiple ideas. Not sure how good the would be to implement or how.
I think the numbers need tweaking like giving out more resources to compensate or the system could be changed a bit. I kind of hate how there are the targeted and standard banners and then there are the weapon ones.
If dupes are going to be important. I would rather see a mix of FGO gacha where the rateup unit is 75% and you have the following pity if you fail the first time. Where the rateup units are going to be pulled at a 75% rate and if you miss it, you get it off the next pity. The weapons shouldn't be 50/50, but 100%
Maybe the update I would like to have the most.
I also don't like how many units are limited. They should update the standard pool more often after a certain amount of time has passed. Maybe then it'll really be worth pulling on and probably alleviate most of the problems.
Could also add a system or event where we farm for currency to buy units, like Papasha and Sabrina, but for general use. That would also have the benefit of having people continue to engage with the game.
I like the game and what it does, but I don't quite enjoy the multiple banners. I rather the standard gacha gets put into the mystery box with us choosing the rateup. Then play with the numbers so that we can feel progression. Other systems kind of have this like Arknights with recruitment, kind of works similar to how GFL1 gacha works with in game resources if I remember correctly. Except it uses tags to roll for the units. There is many different routes they can take.
I think most units should be added to the standard gacha, really dislike how every banner feels limited.
There is also stuff that they should fix and that is core farming. Maybe this is only an issue is because they are blazing through content to get us up to speed with the CN.
P5X has a better system where you can choose the 50/50 for 80 pulls or 110 pulls for guarantee, low rates at the start then increase with each pull. So far i haven't won any 50/50 in GFL2 and it really needs a change.
Totally agree, all I want is using the dolls that I love. But due to the power creep, I cannot even use my lovely doll.
Also, there is no point of me spending on skin on the doll that I love since I cannot use her anyway, I will need to use the power creep latest doll…
Imagine the ability to transfer skills, dang man I would love that.
power creep is just there to show the doll prowess, its not like the content isnt beatable with only purple unuts, i know a few cc who clears endgame with just purple so whats yiur excuse? plus the pvp isnt mandatory to need to win.
there are better banner systems, but most people loathe them because "how am i supposed to build pity" and "im forced to go very deep into my pulls for dupes"
most banner systems have pros and cons, its up to the players to gauge those, no banner system will be perfect because at the end of the day, they want to squeeze money out of you so there always going to be a catch/downfall
the hoyo way has prob been the most "efficient" because it doesn't scare off people while still making good money, at the end of the day, having a 50/50 in the middle of obtaining a character is overall better in most people's eyes than pity being lower but not guarantee anything until an stupidly high amount of pulls, if at all, even if the hoyo system has a 0.6 drop rate while the "deep pity" one has 2%
eventually a better system will emerge, but people will usually flock to systems that won't put them in a positition of pulling endlessly and getting nothing and will prefer ones that give you a good chance to get characters early
50/50 would feels much better if most gacha implement them like in Browndust 2. They got "cashback" system upon getting clones, relatively higher rate, and very generous gacha currency dispatch. But the problem is, this might make them far lesser profit and fear them might go down as a company. Either way, for most of the gacha games, as long as you are not FOMO, they cant do shit to you financially.
thats what gonna make bd2 eos in the near future
I would love if GF2 weapon system is like in Wuwa and the character stays 50 50 as always
The main problem with current system isn't even 50/50, but as you already said - dupes. For now it's too late to make changes to the game and it doesn't really matters because every character has a big chunk of QoL or even skills locked behind dupes, which makes V0 - test version of a character. Even more I can agree that attempt to balance the game and make it fun is opposed with dupe system. And not only that, devs can't even balance it for v6, because for everybody with lower investment game will be unplayable just because of dmg checks, on the other hand with balance around V0, anything above makes game too easy and "add better ai for autobattle" voices louder.
I'd like to say that for gacha system the most fair and suiting for GFL2 will be PGR system with 60 pulls for 100% banner for character and 30 pulls on sig weap, with rotating free and paid patches one after another patches that generates enough currency to get 1.75 character on paid patch, but it's rather bad for printing money.
i feel like they just need to put Hit Percentage again in the game... dat way people will raging not hitting the enemies with 95% hit rate, there is no power creep if your Dolls can't hit the enemies lul. joke aside i wish they revamp the gacha system and make easier getting Dolls. I think making an enemies dat can't be damaged/hit from certain distance is great idea.
Dude yah 50/50 really sucks, I wouldn't mine if there was universal key or something that would give you free tier up. Like in gfl1 you didn't need a dupe to link up
gfl1 and gfl2 is 2 different game, try to learn that common sense
I already mentioned it in the survey to make an additional permanent banner like Snowbreak, I know that it's unlikely but can't hurt to try.
maybe when there is too much character to rerun so they just slap all the old (like maybe 1-3year old characters) limited units into a banner with the modernized standard banner. (I'd call it the "option banner")
I really can't wait for the dungeon crawling system! I LOVE dungeon crawlers! AS for the gacha system itself? Yeah, it sucks.
It totally reminded me of GI and, I dropped that game after a month bc of it.
I love GFL to quit just like that and I make a point to barely spend any money if i don't have to.
That said, I don't care if they need to make money, my time and wallet are more important than they are. Just make a better banner system and keep the game balanced.
i mean if the gacha was FGO and not hoyoverse style, i wouldnt play this game haha.
tbh, i think its not the gacha game that is the problem: i think its how they handle their characters.
hoyo, in order to sell characters, makes two things: make the character attractive or something players can attach to, or make the endgame content fit towards the said characters. and players are not obligated to pull for the said characters because the end game content is optional so most players simply pull for who they like. i think gfl2 is like this too, you can progress the content, even using the canon team, to progress the story. the dolls you pull do make it easier but its possible to clear it without them.
the problem i think would be is if the difficulty of the game, say the story, goes really high that the players are obligated to pull for powerful characters. Thankfully gfl2 has a standard banner where those characters canhold weight and goes powerful overtime and ftp players have access to them.
thank god the pvp is optional because its only for whales and very didcated meta oriented ftp players.
so think the gacha system isnt at fault; its how they will handle the power balance going forward. i do hope you can customize the dolls more but i think they should explore it once the game matures. but for now, its fine.
Another reason why I can’t be done is because the roster of TDs cannot grow too big. The original game has 500 at my best associations how many two dollars there were this game does not need that many if they had that you would have a giant pit of useless ones, plus an entire thing at that point would be more characters or more gear
If, there was no genshin back then, im sure gacha genre is not popular now, and because of genshin, pity system is now a standard among all gacha games. Before genshin, theres no pity among banners, and so predatory af.
Pandemic , that's why many people try Genshin to escape
@ExDik1 what if, genshin didnt release, do u think, gacha genre as a whole, will be mainstream, i dont think so.
@@garthashneirlagansua fate series is already gacha but 2D if they invested in 3D maybe they are and I know Genshin is new open world with good plot when they released that's why is perfect I don't know maybe Chinese plan all of this to make more billions
@ExDik1 bro, my comment is, cuz of genshin, theres pity system, and gacha genre as a whole become mainstream. Fate? That game has no pity system, and jus popular in japan, i dont think fate as a gacha game popular in the world, maybe as an anime yes, i know fate series as an anime, but a gacha game, no.
@@garthashneirlagansua agree china plan pandemic causes Genshin successful profits ccp military
Yep, i have skill issue with 50/50 banners... lucked out with Suomi and Makiatto though... in Snowbreak i lost every 50/50... then when they rolled out the guranteed banner thats the only one i roll on now.. as for account progression i dont really care, i just play for the waifus and push progression when i feel like it.. barely broke level 60 the other day.
Maybe it’s just me but I wish they had the system Nikke has or did things like Nikke like having some characters go to the standard banner after a event
Nikke, only Collab and Seasonal Alts (Summer and Winter/Christmas Alts of existing Nikkes) don't get added.
ALL OTHERS are added about a week or so after their banner ends.
when the hoyoverse player discover FGO gacha rates 1% SSR rate with a 330 hard pity without any soft pity and for almost half the games lifetime there was no pity system.
My favorite gatcha system is in NIKKE. Almost all the units there are getting in the general pool.
50/50 limited banners system sucks, i would prefer if more gachas would take notes from Snowbreak on how they improved their banner system and let you get upgrades (slowly but still better than nothing) for characters that are normally accessible only with dupes
no matter what system there is for characters, if I need to also gacha for weapons for the gacha characters I'm not playing
I have a pretty cynical take. Since the gacha system is whats monetized most heavily they took the most prolific model and copied it because that system will be the absolute worst thing anyone will accept. if it's better, then they're losing money every banner. If its worse, then experienced gacha gamers will back out before even getting in.
It aint much but at least we enjoy higher daily income and slightly lower roll cost. The 50/50 pity build model got standardized because hoyo games got so big so every other company has to choose to take a loss in some way when deviating from it.
Also if the rates got better it'll be impossible to roll back, the community would be so pissed.
I hope they don't being too stupid to make content to V6 top meta DPS cause it already broke HSR for example. Reason i decide left game.
Ahh, thought that was a CN skin for Groza. Guess not. Looks similar to her and she has a meal in her hand.
Yeah, that is Quihua, the latest CN Doll atm. Also called Type-95S in GFL1.
The game is definitely still going through it's honeymoon period and unfortunately people aren't actually going to see your perspective with an open mind until it's well over, the same thing happen with Star Rail until people woke up with how much the game was being power-crept and how their favourite characters are no longer viable option for end-game content.
From what I can tell your complaints are less towards the gacha but more wanting characters to stay relevant.
As a low spending players I would obviously love for an improved gacha but realistically it's something I doubt most companies will ever consider. I find if you focus your criticism towards asking for more buffs and customization to keep older characters relevant it's more likely for MICA to actually consider improving in those areas and implement such things.
Gfl 2 is the first one I played in the series and I know therefore my argument is invalid in the eyes of a true veteran, but I think the gacha system is not that bad. The problem of powercreep is a plague in all gacha games. Back in the day I played fgo so compared to that the hoyo system isn't bad at all and with the amount of resources you get in gfl2 even as a f2p I could afford a lot of pulls on recent banners. I may be built different but I cannot think of a good reason to pull 6 copies of the same character to make him/her op. I think the only place where these op characters with v6 or whatever the fuck are gonna be essential is the pvp, which is kinda cool when you get an even match but absolute dogshit against whales from what I seen (1 turn wipe using the infamous klukai v6). The worst part is that you can't really balance that mode. Regarding the difficulity and complexity of the game at the moment... yeah it's kinda easy and any challenging boss or mission can be bruteforced by makiato right now. Still I'm interested where the story will go and what the devs can do with the xcom style gameplay so I'm gonna stick around for a while. Btw I really like your story videos.
Personally i don't mind. If it's popular it works.
There is also a big difference in making a chibi model and art piece and doing character model and it's animation rigging. It takes much more time and much more money to do so.
Power creep is a problem, but at the same time - it's inevitable in any game. Yes, there ways to mitigate it somewhat-somehow. But as a low-spender\f2p you probably don't REALLY want to go full deep end into endgame farming.
As entirely f2p - and with most of the elite dolls being at 0 - i comfortable able to clear most of the endgame content without even having dolls being 60\60 (most of my weapon 50-55 lvl, as im finishing up lvling dolls to 60)
>best gacha system
>le bad
Unfortunately I dont believe the gacha system is going to change. Hoyo made the 50/50 the new norm for gacha banner with only a handful of them deviating from that system. Aether Gazer has a 90 banner where any non SSR banner you get within your 90 pull is not going to reset the pity and once you reach 90 rolls, the SSR you get is the banner character but before that, it was still a 50/50. WuWa is also a 50/50 on character but a guarantee on weapon.
I am looking forward to some new game (namely Azur Promilia and Endfield) coping they will have interesting banner system but...At this point the most realistic approach IMO is to hope you receive enough pull by playing so you can secure the character/weapon you want. As long as gacha like Genshin keep printing numbers by pushing their predatory monetisation further and further, other company will look at it and think that maybe they can reproduce the same with some luck.
I premise this before I make my statements, I have played for years a lot of gacha games, fgo(since launch and still playing aka 9 years on jp) gbf, girls frontline 1 and many more, I see a lot of people call slander fgo on the gacha system alone and also a lot of them are still fossilized on the impression of when the game didn’t have pity and called it today the worst gacha system ever(which in its corrent state it’s not at all cause many people only focus on the gacha without what the game does for f2p, which is a lot of now a days and how unit balancing is which is like one of the strong points of fgo compared to many gachas i played.) I’ll present to u the worse gacha system I have ever played with, it’s granblue fantasy, where the rate up is sure 3-6 percent for a 5 star problems is the banner unit rate up it’s some stuff like this:0,000230, yes the banner units have practically no rate up in a pull of hundreds of characters and to pity those units u have to spend 300 pulls, u would say but isn’t that similar to fgo? With the pity I mean? Yes and no, the number for the pity is the same but the difference is u don’t need to pity in fgo to get the unit u actually want, the rate up of the banner unit is a 80 on 100 aka if the 5 star shows up u are almost guaranteed, unless spooked, to get the banner rate up and most importantly there is no skill locked behind multiple copies like in gfl2 or hoyo games the only stuff that increases with multiple copies is the power of the ultimate ability(in gbf for fairness sake there is a similar system but with the weapon of the characters that u need to power up stuff but u can have some rare materials to power them up without dupes but yeh at least that), also people have actually calculated how many possibility before pity u would have to get a 5 star in fgo with the rate of ssrs in the game and before u pity in medium u would have 3 cause usually ssrs show up in around 100 pulls so(it depends on actual luck cause for me I had 3 ssrs show up in 3 ten rolls one time )u would need to be super unlucky to be able to pity infact I only ever hit pity once in my time from which pity was added and that is like 3 years? Before u go saying but gbf is generous with pulls, I’ll tell u not really true nor wrong in my experience which like a mad man I experimented I stopped rolling and started saving from zero of the gacha currency of both games and guess what I got to fgo pity before gbf did, why? Gameplay rewards and the fact gbf gives away big rewards only in certain periods leaving the rest as a barren wasteland not to mention the time commitment u have to do to get the non given by devs crystals. what many that stopped playing fgo might not know in the game the devs added a lot of permanent special missions which not only give u sq(the gacha currency) but also materials, u get 3 sq for each unit u get to max ascension(which can be done really easy and is a active in majority of units including 3 stars and above) and biggest of all it’s the bond system which sure can take a lot of time to level but I’ll give u straight how many sq u can get from farming bond, bond has a level from 0 to 15 with various stages, 0 to 5(from here u get access to interludes and strengthenings for the unit and bond lines, strenghthenings and interludes also give sq 2 each with a special mission that gets u every 10, 10 sq), from bond 5 to 10 u get 3 sq per bond till lv 10 where u get a ce(craft essence)think of it as lightcones or weapons) which is personal and can only be used by them altho correctly not really useful cause low stats on it but cool effects, but than the big game changer and the longest one to complete is from bond 10 to 15 which for every single bond u do, u get 1 ten roll, yes 1 ten roll for a total for each servant u own(by the way the bond sq from 5 to 15 apply to all rarities including low) so yes for each servant u own if u work on their bond u can get 162 sq from each unit which is 5 ten rolls and 4 singles, not convinced? Ok but I’ll at least point out what fgo does way better than most other gacha games, making old units still viable, we litteraly have units from 1 year one still be relevant thanks to their buffs, there are rarely units that are not useful in fgo hell some of the most used units are permanent 3 stars, in fgo there are in each rarities many good picks that can be almost as good if not better than 5 stars. Sorry if I kinda ranted a bit about fgo, but yeh I’ll say this people that haven’t done the math on games with hoyo style gachas need to do it cause its horrible compared to fgo and a lot of other gacha games, cause not only some units u need multiple copies to unlock parts of their kits which I find terrible, not only that I rarely got 5 star units outside pity cause the usual 5 star rate up is 0.6 percent which is abysmal u don’t get how much a 0.4 difference can make in the long run till u actually run the numbers, before people go but u get pity at 90/80 yes but that’s just to make u spend more, there is a reason it’s called pity,u shouldn’t have to use it, pity was designed as a safety net in case u got fucked over by rng Which is how fgo and many older games do it, in hoyo like gacha systems sure u have pity at 90/80 but u also have way less currency to spend and a chance for the pity to fail in Which than u have to pity again which I’ll show u the math of the worst possible scenario. So in case u roll both character and light cone/ weapon it’s usually about 170 pulls unless u get luck which is very unluckily that u roll them before pity, that’s if u win both the 50/50 on character and the 75/25 on the weapon, in the almost worst case scenario in which u fail character but get weapon it’s another 90 Which brings it to 250, but than the worst case scenario, fail both the pity for weapon and character thats 90+90+80+80 thats 340 thats more than fgo’s pity and u know what’s funny? In fgo ces(light cones and weapons) are in the same banner as the rate up unit and outside of the bond ces which dosnt involve gacha there is no personal ce or weapon aka if the effects works with the character u just smack them on so many units without any problem and u have way less stuff to roll for. In reguards to girls frontline 2 I agree that it could be way better altho the difference I find with other hoyo style gacha is that u know is that the devs way more rewards compared to say honkai star rail in their dailies, weekly rewards which makes it feel better than u know other hoyo style gachas, dosnt stop that the pain of how the system is designed still is there but it’s less severe, and u know lots of weapons can fit in other dolls with similar gameplay which is nice but yeh overall I agree that the system would need an improvement but yeh I don’t think they will and sure gfl1 had power creep but it was the funny kind? Cause u would have this absolutely shit unit than mod 3 comes around that either fixed it or just made it stupidly op lol and I kinda miss that. But again sorry for my big rant on fgo, cause people tend to over hate the game and yes it ain’t perfect and has its negative sides but I feel people blow it way out of proportion, I say this I would rate corrent fgo gacha as kinda middle of the road but I’ll say this each gacha game has its catch, example epic seven u can easy get the unit but than equipment farm fucks u over a ton. Each gacha has its aha ha moment it’s up to u with what u are fine with or not, what’s important is being conscious of the negatives and positives, u are your own person and u can make thoose decisions yourself.
Dupe systems suck ass but thats what made genshin rich so thats what we get
ever since i played PGR with 100% rate banners only every 50/50 banner starts to feel like sucks
though GF2 gives a ton of revenue and its not my main game so i deem it being ok
i rather have less high and lows in the rng though so we can predict what we can get and what not better with an occasionall early which basicly feels like an actuall bonus, insstead of. ok so which of the 5 50/50's am i gonna lose for it in return of winning just this one. U gonna feel like bad karma can be around the corner at any point. and with most 50/50 banners i lose them all and go full pity on them consistently anyway
yo will there be ep4?
Horrendous gacha mechanics are just one problem, the other has to be character growth. You're continuously bottlenecked into trying to get character dupes (most egregiously on limited banners) and SSR weapon dupes, since the difference between even trashy basic and SRs is monumental. Not to mention grinding keys, low amount of XP yields from farming and all that. Then you also have to account for the resource sink that is equipment calibration (and yet again, limited amount of sardis gold you can grind daily) and it all amounts to a slog fest where I feel more constrained by game's design rather than skill. This problem is further exacerbated by very limited amount of energy you can expend daily for free.
But such is the fate of F2P gacha games, innit?
